Hi everyone! I'm a 31 year old mom of 4. I had Novasure back in early January due to after having my 4th child in 2003, I had horrible cramping and heavy periods. I wouldnt' say my periods were overly "awful" but the cramping was so bad I could hardly move for the first few days of my period. My gyn. dr gave me the option to do the Novasure and I jumped on it! I can say that the procedure went really well, with no complications. My dr actually did 3 procedures in one-1st she did a "hysteroscopy" where they view the uterus for any polyps or fibroids by filling the uterus up with fluids, then she did a D&C which is basically scraping the uterus out, and finally the Novasure was done. After the procedure I had very minor cramping for about 2 weeks (some bad cramping if I did too much during the healing time), small amount of discharge for about 3 weeks (mainly just enough to only wear a pantyliner), and of course I bloated for about 2 weeks as well. I was told that was due to the hysteroscopy done on me. I was not suppose to use tampons, take a bath, OR have sex for 2 weeks and I followed those rules with no problems. I should have had another cycle around the first of February and I am happy to say that so far I have had NOTHING-no cramping, no period and best of all NO PMS SYMPTOMS!!! I'm hoping it stays this way but wanted to let those of you out there weighing your options-there is no guarantee on how well this will work - but it definitely worked for me so far. Best wishes to all you out there!

For all you women out there who this procedure didn't work for...go back to your doctor or a new doctor. Talk to them about having a hysterectomy. I am 30 yrs old & am having the NovaSure procedure tomorrow. My doctor said IF it doesn't work we will do a hysterectomy. So with this in mind if I even begin to have any of the problems I've been having (bleeding for several weeks, major clotting, anemia worsening, major fatigue) I wont wait, but I will get my self back into the doctor to discuss the hysterectomy.

Well for one thing they will do your surgery with your heavy periods. Even if you have light ones. If your lucky your surgery will come out A-ok.

But prepared to have some cramping. And hopefully you dont get a infection. :D

I had the Novasure ablasion done 3 weeks ago. I had alot of cramping afterwards. I also had the watery yellow discharge, I thought I was having trouble holding my bladder, it was hard to tell, my doctor said this was common, and he thought it was a discharge from the surgery. It felt like my bladder to me. It would come and go. It's better now. Still having some discharge but feeling better everyday. Had a light period a few days after my surgery, hoping that I won't have another one this month. I am glad I had the surgery but I wasn't expecting to still have symptoms after 3 weeks.

Had endometrial ablation on January 5, 2007; everything was fine. Now I am having HEAVY bleeding and large blood clots; worse than before I had surgery. Is this a common problem with this procedure?

From what I uderstand the Thermachoice procedure is much better tolarated, safer, and some doctors do it in their office.

I had the novasure procedure done three weeks ago. Had terrible cramping for several hours after the procedure and then they went away. I had the yellow watery discharge that came on all of a sudden and off and on for the last three weeks, sometimes it was bloody and sometimes nothing at all. I was told to not have sex, use tampons or take a tub bath for two weeks following the procedure. I was also told that the "spotting" could last up to 3 to 6 weeks following the procedure. But three days ago, I seems as if my period is here. But my period began on the day of surgery, so that would only have given me 21 days from the last period with surgery taking place. This is worse than before, because I was only having a 24 day cycle anyway. At least it isn't gushing blood like before, but I didn't expect it to be what it is now...kinda expecting less. Not sure if this was good or not yet. But am willing to give it a little more timeto see if it corrects itself

I had the Novasure done January 18th and it took almost 4 weeks for the discharge to stop. I just wore a pad and it was fine. I wasn't told it would last as long as it did, but I just kept thinking about all the pain and suffering I was having during my period and so i figured this would eventually taper as after having a baby. I did have clotting and "grey" lining that came out but I realize what had happened to my uterus and thought, OK if I had major burn wounds to my skin how long would it take to heal and would it ooze, of course, would it hurt, of course so I just dealt with it. I am grateful for having had the procedure. It's my 2nd cycle since and the pain has decreased about 75% during the days before during and after. I still have all the PMS symptoms and hormonal issues but it's better than running to the bathroom every hour and changing the "diapers" that I had to wear to contain the flow. I'm not sorry at all.

I had my Novasure procedure done on 9-14-06. I had severe cramps for 12 hours after the surgery. The day after surgery, I was fine, up cleaning house, etc.
Before the surgery I was bleeding so heavy that I had to wear 3 pads AND A depend diaper to keep from messing up my clothes. Had gone thru 2 years of hormone pills and birth control pills, then as a last resort, tried the birth control shot. The shot was supposed to last 3 months but I was bleeding heavy again after 2 weeks of getting the shot.
I did have a clear discharge for 2 months after the Novasure procedure and did spot the first 2 months after surgery. What a change!! After 2 months, I stopped having a period altogether.
It's not March 3, 2007 and am having a period after all this time. But, I have to say, it's great not to be flooding!! It's a very light period and I can hang with that!!
I would and have recommended this procedure to other women and they've said the same thing. After flooding so bad and looking at our options of hysterectomy or removing the fibroids, Novasure is definitely the way to go!!
And you women who are heavily bleeding even after the Novasure procedure should definitely see your doctor. That is NOT normal!! Good luck and hope all turns out well!

I had the novasure procedure on February 21, 2007. Like many others, I have had a yellowy-watery discharge and I have to wear a pad. I think it is finally beginning to slow down a little bit. My back has hurt really bad since the procedure. I have had to lay on the floor with my feet up over the coffee table to relieve the pain. The pain is worse when I sit down and is alleviated if I walk. Also, now it feels like my ovaries are hurting. I have hurting on both side of my abdomen. I am due to have my period this week. We'll see what happens.

I totally agree with the post of 02/25. I had the exact same thing. Mild cramping, more if I did heavy lifting during the healing process. Discharge for 2-3 weeks after. And I was supposed to get my perios March 5th, never came. Yet, lol I recommened this procedure. It does help greatly with PMS!

I had the Nova Sure ablation in January. 2-3 weeks of discharge, then 1 week later, what I assumed was my period. 3 weeks after that got another "period" with initial discharge, than increasing to outright bleeding. Was told by my gyn to take 800 mg of ibuprofen every 6 hours. This stopped everything until I also stopped the ibuprofen 4 days later. Within 1 day, I'm back to discharge and some cramping. While I had horrible periods before, I now have something going on all the time without any kind of "cycle". Frustrating. Was told it could take 6 months for everything to settle down. Beginning to think I should've had the hysterectomy.

I am considering the ablation, my doctor recommended it to me. I can't use birthcontrol due to medical condition, so this is my only option. My periods last 7-10days that are heavy with lots of large clots in the beginning and only spotting around the middle and then it hits with a wammy at the end with clots and gushing, I am afraid to laugh, move or go out with out a 3 month supply of product (which only lasts for a day) for me!!! There has to be another option or something to make this more bearable, My husband thinks I am nuts. I am 37 YO with 3 kids. I can blow thru a tampon and a pad in nothing flat. I go thru almost 2 deluxe sized boxes of tampons during one period. Help me I am desperate for a normal month.
