I had Novasure 10 days ago. So far so good. I also had it done in the outpatient surgery center under anesthesia. My doctor did a D&C and hysteroscopy first. For the first 7 days I had watery beige to clear discharge and then 3 days ago turned to light pink. The day it turned to light pink was the day I was due for my period. I'm assuming it's my regular period but 100 times lighter. Nothing a light pad can't handle. Hopefully it'll taper off soon but I've heard you can have the discharge for up to 4 weeks. I had severe cramps for 5 hours post-op and stayed in recovery on pain meds. After that nothing! I didn't even need a Motrin. I was back to shopping and doing laundry the day after. I haven't felt bloated or crampy either.
I'm just waiting it out to see when the discharge will stop and then to see if I get my period next month.
Hope this helps...

I am considering having Novasure done. I have always had very regular periods with mild cramping, nothing Advil didn't take care of. I had a m/c in 04 and then went through fertility drugs for a while with no success.
In spring (of 07) I started getting my period every 2 weeks and would last up to 12 days with terrible cramps. My doctor put me on YAZ to get my cycles back on track which it did BUT I had terrible cramps EVERYDAY for 4 months so they changed my pill but my cycles are off again. I have had 3 periods in 5 weeks and this one has lasted 6 days so far with strongs cramps. They told me to give the new pill 3 months and when I go in for my yearly in December we will set the next plan of action.

I am so tired of having these cramps and periods I want them to go away forever!! My anemia has kicked into high gear and I am sooo tired all the time and I am tired of being tired.

Has anyone had the Novasure in which your period has stopped all together???

Hi all. I wanted to let you know that I read many of the posts on this website 2 days before my sugery, which was last Friday, 10/19/07, and was scared to death to go through with the procedure. Many people do not post the reason they decided to have the procedure. I was having it due to extremely heavy periods with major clotting. I called my doctor who I love, love, love to make sure I was doing the right thing. He reassured me that everything would be just fine and he had performed the procedure on over 2000 patients and had never had a patient who had so many of the things that I had read about happen to his patients. (ie. pain with sex, pain for weeks even months after the surgery, gushes coming out, ect.)

Well, it has been almost a week and I am doing great! I never took one pain pill, not even tylonol, advil, ect. after leaving the hospital. I have not had one cramp or one ounce of any pain. Nothing! Of course I have some discharge, a small pad changed a few times a day for sanitary reasons has been just fine. I am writing to let you know if your docotor does many of the procedures and will do it in the hospital as out-patient, you should not worry. My docotor reccommends having it done at the hospital not in an office and to make sure you are put to sleep. If you are awake, he said you are more likely to feel the pain. Remember when people are upset about something they want the world to know, so many people do not take the time to write about the good. This is my first time ever writing on a chat board, but I felt it so important to let you know, I am feeling great. We will see how my periods go from here, but I trust my docotor and know I am another one of his success stories. Good Luck!!

PS I slept for almost 25 hours after due to the anesthesia.

I had the Novasure procedure performed on October 15th at a surgery center, and everything went really well. (My doctor suggested I have the procedure due to extremely heavy periods with lots of clotting.) My doctor removed a few polyps right before she performed the Novasure procedure, and everything was done under general anesthesia. My doctor and the surgery center both checked on me the following day to make certain that all was going well, and that I was not bleeding.

The day of the surgery, I did have pretty horrible cramps but I took 600 mgs of Motrin and that helped manage the pain. I had no further pain after the first day, and I have been having steady discharge ever since, but was told that this would last approximately 3 weeks. A light pad changed a few times day for sanitary reasons, is all that is needed.

As the person that wrote before me stated, I too wanted to let everyone know that there are many success stories out there. Make certain that the doctor that will be performing this procedure for you is experienced, and asked what sort of success their patients have had.

If you are suffering from heavy periods and are certain that you do not want to have any more children, then ask your doctor if this is the right procedure for you.

I have no regrets and am extremely happy with the results thus far. I am due for my monthly cycle in about a week, so I will let you know how that goes.

I am scheduled to have Novasure after a hysteroscopy and diagnostic laparoscopy in 2 weeks and most of the postings I have seen have completely gone against the statistics that my doctor has quoted and has seen in his practice. I also think that there are so many people out there that are confusing Novasure ablation with other methods. Other methods like the balloon ablation can cause increased clotting etc months after the procedure because it doesn't form as well to the uterus and there is places where the endometrium remains.

I was glad to see the last two postings with such positive results. I have probable endometriosis and know that while the Novasure addresses the bleeding, it may not do much for the pain that I am having. Thats why I am having the laparoscopy done at the same time to see if there are adhesions present that they can help. I will report back when mine is done!! I am hoping for good results as I sit here waiting for the next gush.

I am scheduled to have the Novasure done on Nov. 27. I am happy to read some positive thoughts. I am 31 with 2 beautiful girls. However, when that time comes, just leave me alone and let me DIE in peace. I have had horrible periods with cramping, hip pain, back pain, and heavy bleeding lasting first 2 days and easing off for the next 4 or 5 days. I had NEVER been regular. Just whenever it decided it was time, it would surely let me know. I have tried numerous birth control and nothing. My doc suggested this and I was tickled to death. Merry Christmas to me. I do have a question. If you have periods afterwards, are they regular if you were irregular before? Unable to find that answer anywhere. I have read the other posts and have some concerns but still willing to give it a shot. Can it be any worse than I am having now? Would love to hear thoughts.

I had this procedure done on 10/31 for treatment of very heavy periods. I have never had problems with irregular periods or excessive pain, just really, really heavy periods since the very first period I have ever had at age 11. I have never had a succsessful pregnancy and several miscarriages none of which required a D&C. I always said the only thing my uterus knows is how to eject everything, that's what it always does, ejects volumes of blood.
Anyway, the day after the procedure I came down with a very sudden and very high fever. They started at 103, then went up to 105. I would take Tylenol and the fever would break and I would pour sweat. I went to the ER immediately and met with my doctor. They never discovered the cause of the infection, no bacteria were found. I took one course of antibiotics, but I don't think that really did anything so I didn't start another.
I also had a very foul smelling discharge that my Dr prescribed MetroGel for. That went away after about three days of using the medication.
The fevers went away, so did the odor and watery discharge, but it was a little scary there for a while.
My Dr has done many of these procedures and has never had a reaction like this. I have an excellent and caring doctor.
I am waiting to start my first period in a few days, and I have my fingers crossed that it will have reduced the bleeding. I am very tired of being anemic and unable to do anything for five days out of every month. My Dr told me that the next two or three periods will not be indicative of the long term. So I will repost again in four months or so.

I had the Novasure procedure performed on 10/18/07. Prior to the procedure I was having heavy periods that came every 23 days. It has been over 5 weeks now since my procedure and I'm still having the bloody and watery discharge, some days it is very light, others it is like a moderate period with cramping. I'm really starting to become concerned the bleeding will never stop. What concerns me more is my doctor says he hasn't seen this happen with the procedure and he has no answers for me. Infection has already been ruled out. He is telling me to give it a few more weeks, but I'm becoming really anxious. If I could see things progressing in a positive direction, I might feel better about it. However, just when it seems to lighten up, the next day it gets heavy and painful again. I am going for a 2nd opinion next week. Has anyone else experienced this and what was the final outcome?

Tuesday is the day. Not nervous yet but I am sure when I get there I will be. Luckily my appointment is 8:30 and I will be rushing around trying to get the kids to school. I won't have time to think. LOL. Anyway, my question is I have heard of discharge and bleeding for 4-5 weeks, how soon afterwards can you wear a tampon if at all? I really really really hate pads. Just a thought I was hoping someone could answer before I go.

I am the one that had the Uterine Baloon done in South Carolina. Didn't work. I recently went to another Dr. and Fibroids were discovered. Dr. thought I would need to get my uterus out and then referred me to a surgeon that found 2 fibroids the size of 6 month fetus'. I got a total hysterectomy (bikini cut). I have never felt better and am taking no hormones. I am now perfect. This is the procedure everbody should get. Forget Novasure and the Uterine Baloon. This is fast - I was in surgery Monday and home on Thursday. Feeling Fantastic!

To answer the question of the woman that asked how soon after she could use a tampon, you will need to check with your doctor, but mine said not to use them for 3 weeks. You only need to use a pantiliner, and not an actual sanitary pad.

My procedure was performed on October 15th, and I have not had a period. I had the usual PMS symptoms, but only discharged a few drops of pink fluid. I am thrilled because I had the procedure done due to extremely heavy, long lasting periods.

I have no regrets and would do this again if needed.

I am scheduled to have the novasure with a cystectomy on my left ovary and both fallopian tubes removed due to fluid buildup. My doctor assured me that she had not had one patient with an infection from the novasure. I am looking forward to posting my progress monthly for the first year from the procedure to give some longer prognosis to people just signing on. Wish me luck!

Well, it has been two months since I had the Novasure procedure, and I have not had a period. I had the monthly PMS symptoms, but I didn't even spot! Yippee!

My doctor had told me prior to the procedure, that 70% of women never have another period, and the remaining 30% have a light period. With the luck that I have, I never dreamed that I would be in the 70% that never had a cycle again, so I am thrilled with the results!

I hope that everyone out there that is thinking of having this procedure goes through with it, because do not have any regrets. Yes, I had horrible cramps for a few days, and yes, I wore a pantiliner for about a month, but it was certainly all well worth it.

Good luck everyone!

I had the procedure done yesterday (12/19/2007). I was warned about having some cramping and discharge but so far no cramping and very little discharge, even tho my period started yesterday. I felt tired yesteday so spend it on the couch but today I am up and doing light housework. No pain medication has been taken. I was advised to take three days off from work and I'm going to take them but only because I still have some Christmas shopping and baking to do. Shh don't tell my boss XD
