I had the Novasure procedure done on May 22nd. I still have discharge, but it's not as bad as it was right after surgery. It is thick and gooey and comes about twice per day in all types of colors. I wear a panny liner and if anything, it's just annoying. I started having cramps yesterday with pain on my left side, so I started taking Advil to alleviate the pain. Other than the discharge, I feel great and I'm curious to see what happens when my period rolls around.

I had the procedure done Oct 2006. I love it. I don't realize i am even getting my period until the cramps starts. I do notice that i am crampy a little more than before i had the procedure. My breast are sore, something i never had when i had a full period. I guess it is different for everyone. If i could get rid of the week of cramps and headaches i would say i am 100% a new person. I love NOVASURE i would recommend it, if you are bleeding heavy. I did have the normal discharge,if that is continuing after 2 months i would go to a doctor.

I have to say, IM terrified of the procedure! I have high pain tolerance to everything but work being done down there. I am getting valium and 750 mg of vicodine. I had laser surgery on my cervix with no pre pain meds and survived that but I am still afraid of the pain. Can someone tell me how bad it really is or is not? I had a c section and never dialated nor labor pains. Today alone my period is so bad I have taken 2- vicodine 750's and the cramps havent subsided. Yes, Im still upright! LOL. Vicodine has a reverse reaction. It doesnt make me sleepy.

Hi, I am 42 years old and I had the procedure on August 28, 2006. It was actually the day I started my period and that is the good thing about Novasure, you can have the procedure even if you have your period. I did have a discharge for about 4 - 5 weeks but a panty liner worked. I guess I am one of the success stories because I have had absolutely nothing since the morning I woke up on August 28th with my period (except the discharge of course but I knew this was going to happen as the doctor gave me all the info before hand). I have to say as well even the PMS systems seem to have taken a vacation as well. I hope this lasts but have heard of people who just started having period again but so far so good. The doctor wants to see me again this August. Good luck to anyone comtemplating this procedure and I hope you get the success I did.

I had the surgery done June 1st 2007. I had bad cramping for part of the day. I slept most of the day and at 7:00 pm the night of the surgery I went camping. I am having some bleeding now but I am sure it's not my period. That was supposed to come last week and did not. So far so good.

I had a novasure endometrial ablation a month ago and it went very well. I only had mild cramps the next day but didn't even take pain meds. for it. I had a watery, clear/yellow discharge for about 10 days off and on. At my 2 week post-op check up it was gone and everything looked good. A month later I got my "period." It was just spotting for three out of 7 days but nothing that a panty liner wouldn't take care of. It seemed like my body had the same cycle as before with some cramping on the 2nd and 4th day but much milder than the bad cramps I am used to and just spotting instead of excessive bleeding. So if this is the way my periods will be from now on I think the ablation was a great success. I have lots more energy than I used to.
I appreciate everybody's comments regarding their experiences. I also think it is important to note the reasons for bleeding and considering the procedure. Maybe these reasons might shed light as to why the ablations don't work for some women. In my case, I was having spotting between periods for 6 months and the last six weeks before the ablation I was bleeding for 3 weeks out of the six. The doctor had spotted a polyp and very thick lining of the uterus during a ultrasound. But when he did the ablation he said the polyp was tiny. So I am still not too clear as to why I was bleeding so much. There were no fibroids either, just really thick endometrial lining.
Anyway, I still recommend the procedure since it seems to have worked for me. I am looking forward to having more energy and not bleeding so much with every period. Thanks again to every one for sharing their sotries and concerns.

I have the Nova Sure procedure in March of 2006 and it is the best thing I have ever done! My doctor calls me the poster child for Novasure. No more periods or PMS symptoms! I am loving life again. The procedure was in the morning and I was home at noon watching TV. I didn't need any pain medication and was up and around doing everyday activities. Before Nova Sure my periods were 8-10 days of a heavy flow and coming every 20 days. Now, I have nothing and I feel great. I highly recommend this to any woman. I think this is the best new procedure every!!!!!

Hi everyone. I just had it done 8 days ago. I made the mistake of taking Motrin afterwards and threw up all day. I switched to Vicodine and since then have breezed along well. It was in all honesty, the most painful thing I have ever experienced physically but well worth it. 8 days later a slight discharge and a little bloated but functioning normally. I would recommend it. 90 seconds of pain if worth the rest of your life of freedom!

Hi.
I had the Novasure procedure six days ago.
It was done in an out - patient surgery center at a local hospital.
Everything went great! The only pain I felt was the needle from the I.V.! I came out of surgery and after a little recovery time (about 1 hr. or so), I had lunch with my husband.
I had very little cramping. Sort of like the after pains from giving birth the second time. These stopped within a couple of days.
I had a thick, mucous like discharge that was tinged with a little blood for about three days. Only needed a pantiliner.
Now the discharge has totally stopped. I do feel a sort of full, bloated feeling in my lower abdomen. Hopefully this will go away as quickly as the discharge did. From reading the other posts, I think I have been one of the luckier people.
I'm 48 and had very heavy periods with a lot of clotting. They only lasted about five days, but they were five days that I could do nothing but change my clothes due to flooding accidents. Hopefully this will end my periods once and for all. I'm due to start in two weeks. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I'm so glad that I found this site I have been dealing with so many of the problems you all have.

The extremely heavy bleeding having to stay at home because you are clotting & gushing so much.
Some of the time I hurt so bad it's like labor pains for me lasting all day until I fall asleep from the pain.

I have had one doctor that totally blamed it all on my weight, I'm overweight but how am I suppose to feel like working out when one most days I can't even leave the house. Not to mention coughing, sneezing etc. how would I run or do aerobics.

Now I have found a doctor that listens & has scheduled me for a check for fibroids etc. before doing the Nova sure.

I have tried to do as much research as I can & years later I'm ready for it to be over.

Best wishes to everyone!

I had my novasure procedure in June 2007, i had some discharge for about 2 weeks and 2 weeks later i had my period for 7 days with light bleeding (it was 9/10 days very heavy bleeding). Today i told to my gyn. and he told me to wait another half a year for the final results.
I had the procedure with spinal cord anestetics, so i could follow all of it, there was an experienced doctor present. I never had pain or felt sic afterwards. I'm not totally happy now but i'll wait another half a year to see what will happen. At least i dont have to stay indoors now and no more cramps every month.

I had the procedure done in April 2007. My doctor told me to expect discharge for 3 weeks and wait to have sex. I resumed normal activity within 24 hours. I was up and about with no problems the next morning, no pain killers needed and I have not had any pain or periods since the surgery. I had this done in an outpatient surgery center at the hospital and chose to be knocked out for the procedure but for 4 months now I can say it is the best thing I could have done and I recommend this prior to a hysterectomy any day!!!!

Hello. I'm 35 and was suffering from heavy periods with flooding and clots. I had a polypectomy, D&C and the Novasure 9 days ago. The procedure was done in an outpatient facility by my trusted OB/Gyn. I was under IV sedation for the procedure, and had a little trouble clearing my head and not vomiting immediately afterwards, but the procedure went as well as I could have hoped. I had minor bleeding the first day and have had light watery beige-ish discharge for the last 8 days, but nothing a pantyliner couldn't handle. I took 1 vicodin the first day, advil for next 2 days and nothing since. Aside from minor cramping and a lingering headache, I have no complaints. When I can, I take a short daily nap to keep my energy level up. I expected my period three days ago, and nothing so far. I'll see how things are in six months. I recommend the procedure to any woman who does not want to bear any more children and has menstrual bleeding that keeps her from living a fulfilling life. Find a gynecologist that you trust, rule out other causes for the heavy bleeding (polyps, fibroids, hormonal imbalance, thyroid problems, etc.) ask all the questions you can think of, and make the best decision for your life.
