I just had it done last Friday the 23. I had no pain at all and no bleeding, just a very faint pink color and all I need is a pantie liner. I have been cleaning and carrying laundry up and down stairs and still no pain not even a cramp. The worst part for me was the light headiness after being knocked out. Just waiting now to see if it works, if not I will have just the uterus removed as my Doctor said we would do if it doesn't work to stop my periods.

Had novasure 12-15-06. Painless. No period till Feb 2007. First 3 to 4 days very light, then back to changing pads and tampons every 1 1/2 hours, and getting up at night and gushing in the mornings. Periods last up to 14 days. Very disapointed, hoping I'd never bleed again.

I also have long, heavy and painful periods and my doctor recommeended this surgery to me. I am a mother of 4 and the last 2 being a set of twins (that is when it all changed) My periods are horrible and embarrising. My only concern is I am a bt overweight and am afraid of gaining weight for other health reasons. Has anyone experienced any weight changes after the surgery?

Everything I have read on this site concerning Novasure seems to be about heavy periods and pain.
My period lasts 10-14 days with the 2nd day being the heaviest day- usually clots, but nothing major I can't deal with. All other days fairly light and no cramps- just a headache before it starts and when it quits. It has been this way since I had kids, 15yrs ago.
I had been missing a period here and there over the last 2.5 yrs but thought it was pre-menopause starting. I'm 45 yrs young and for 4 months had no period. I went to the gyn dr. and she suggested I consider Novasure because if the uterus doesn't shed it's lining, it can start to grow cancerous growths. A pelvic ultrasound has to be done first along with a thyroid test. I'm just researching early and trying not to stress out wondering what's wrong with me.
Has anyone else heard of /had Novasure for missing periods?
Can an ultrasound detect cancer?

I am 34 yrs old and have 2 children. I have had heavy periods that have controlled my life since I was 14 yrs old. Severe cramping and very large sized clots that prevents me from leaving my home for the first 3 days of my period, not to mention the severe P.M.S. I have for 2 weeks prior. I don't even use pads. I use diapers and toddler pull ups or I do not sleep at night for the worry of bleeding on everything. I have never had a Dr. listen to me about how heavy my periods are and they have always acted like it was normal. I do have endometriosis, but no discussions from my doctor about that either. I have recently switched Doctors and her suggestions for my heavy cycles are more for Paragaurd birth control than Novasure. She claims that she has little or no periods at all from the Paragaurd. I am worried about the Novasure after reading all the comments. I do not need more problems or the risk of having a Hysterectomy. Reading these posts has made me realize that our Doctors aren't doing their jobs to inform us a little better. Any suggestions about what I should do?

After reading all of these posts I have cancelled my procedure that was suppose to take place this week. My doctor never mentioned the possibility of having periods become worse than they are now. All I was told about the success of the treatment was that 90% of patients have no period after the procedure and the rest have a period that is lighter than it had been. I was told to expect a few days of light discharge after the procedure, not the gushing that some have written of. I am going to go for a second opinion. If anyone who posted bad experiences has had an improvement in their condition and still reads these posts please update. Thanks

I had novasure two weeks ago. The surgery went well. Five days later I had watery bleeding. My doctor packed me with meds that stopped the bleeding. I also had a leep procedure with the novasure for irregular cells. I started my period like clokwork. It is lighter but a steady flow. Will this stop? Is this because I had another procedure with it? Is it possible to have a period for a month or two after then stop completely?

Hi there,

I had the procedure at the end of March and then like most on the list had the watery discharge for three weeks then flt mild cramping for a few days, I spotted for a week and now it looks like my period is starting.

Someone asked if anyone got better? I had this surgery after hearing about it from my aunt. She had it and since then 6 of her friends went through the procedure before I did. Of the 8 of us, six had similiar symptoms that I had, but all 6 say their symptoms went away after a couple of months and they haven't had any periods since. They love it. One had bad problems after, her periods have returned worse than before and is now looking into other options and then there is me. It's too soon for me to make a prognosis on the success/failure for me. But even if I still have periods, so far they are lighter, and less painful that what I had before.

I hope my response helps ? And good luck to you!

i had novasure done 2 days ago and have had no bleeding but a brown discharge that is already lightening up. it sounds like a lot of you had a hack for a doctor in my opinion. But it also states that it is not a promise that the procedure will lighten or eliminate periods. i had my procedue done in the doctor office and was awake through the whole thing. The other benefit i had was the Novasure rep was in the room during my procedure. it was very uncomfortable but so far well worth it. if i were you i would see another doctor. I have a wonderful doctor that also called me to make sure i was ok the following day.

Four years later, I am a Novasure success story. I had it done when it was fairly new and it was the best thing I ever did. I've never had another period or cramp since. Nor did I have an unusual recovery.... slight cramping and back to business as usual with in a couple of days.

Hi,

Yes, I am quite similiar. I had the surgery in Jun 2005. Fall 2005, I was experiencing cramping that I had never experienced before. I could hardly stand up straight. Then one day at work, so embarrassing for me a blot clot came out and blood was all over my desk chair & my clothing. My doc, explained she still did not want to rule the surgery out from not being successful since I did not have a period for 3 mo's.

At this point I am still having a period not for 5 or seven days but its constant dry brown discharge. I am considering a hysterectomy. I am sick of it all. I am 46 yrs old w/no kid.

Best wishes,

I had the novasure ablation 2 days ago in the doctor's office. I would not recommend doing this to anyone! It hurt terribly for the whole 90 seconds of treatment!! I was given an anti-inflammatory injection, valium and a pain pill prior but I was not given anything to "put me out". If your doctor wants to do this to you in the office make sure that you are given some IV sedation so that you cannot remember a thing. Otherwise have it done at an outpatient center!! After the procedure was done the pain subsided almost immediately and I have taken nothing for pain. I have just a little bit of discharge-- not bad!

I had the procedure done in Sept. 06. I had endured long and heavy periods since my youngest of three children was born in 93'. My doctor told me to expect discharge for 6 weeks and wait for sex until after that if possible also that I should be able to resume normal activity within 24 hours. He was so right! I was up and about with no problems the next morning, no pain killers needed and I have not had any pain or periods since the surgery. I did have mine done in an outpatient surgery center and chose to be knocked out for the procedure but for 8 months now I can say it is the best thing I could have done.
