Hi Dawn, that's really strange. Perhaps you are right in that you are highly susceptible to the bacteria in the food which is what makes you ill. I hope that this helps other people.
i recommend to anyone who knows they have gallstones, to get their gallbladder removed. it will NEVER get better. i got mine removed in may/09 and you better believe i don't miss those awful "attacks". it was to the point with me where i was going to the hospital at least once a day to get a shot of toradol, and all in between that i was taking other pain killers orally. i lost probably 20 pounds in a month, because i was never eating because it was too much of a risk, "is this going to cause me to be in pain?" when it was only an occasional thing, it would last 12-14 hours or so. right before i got my gallbladder removed, it was a CONSTANT pain. everything i ate gave me pain, whether it was a cracker or a chocolate bar. it was a really terrible experience, and i'm SO glad i got my gallbladder removed. so glad. for anyone who is considering it - stop considering - do it! there's no reason to make yourselves go through that pain.
but for anyone who isn't getting their gallbladder removed, or is waiting to get their gallbladder removed, i have a couple tips for when you're having a full blown "attack" - you know, when you're curled up in a ball, crying, tired, and in so much pain you seriously want to die?
- wear loose clothes. and if you're a woman, no bra.
- heat bags. my aunt made me this really fabulous heat bag, or so i call it, and it's basically rice encased in fabric. heating it up in the microwave gets it nice and hot. having this wrapped around your stomach, or up your back, works wonders. i could sometimes even sleep if i had 3 or so of them wrapped around my torso while i was having an "attack".
- hot showers. personally, i just sat in the bath tub and had the shower on a hard, rough spray, and let it pound against my back. this eases the pain pretty well but obviously once you get out of the shower the pain is there again.
- drug of choice - toradol. after being on demerol and a variety of other pain killing medicines, toradol was definitely my favorite. unlike demerol, it does not make you sleepy/drowsy/"high", i felt like my old self when i had a fresh dose of toradol on me. miracle drug. this is just my experience and i urge you to check with your doctor before taking anything.
please remember none of these are permanent fixes, merely temporary. i urge you to save yourself the pain and just get the evil thing removed. good luck all! :)

I have had the same pain for years!!!! And have had every test imaginable. Including having my gallbladder out and laparoscopy to clear out any endometriosis that migrated into my stomach. I have been on every acid reducer, antidepressants, narcotic pain killers - you name it. Ive tried it. All to no avail. I still had the horrible stomach pain. I had figured out that it was corn. Any corn- even corn meal on the bottom of a pizza. Then it was eggs too. Then ginger. Then all of the sudden it was everything. I was in pain 24/7. My pain is right under the edge of my ribs and radiates to my back. Then it moves through my intestinal tract. It usually takes about 6-8 hours to stop hurting. I did have one Dr. suggest OTC "Donnagel" It take a long time to kick in but it works.
I finally found a great diagnostician. I told him I felt like I was having labor in my stomach. He was just as excited as I was to figure it out. He diagnosed me with Sphincter of Odi Dysfunction. Basically the duct from the liver and pancreas reacts badly to certain foods and shuts off. Causing intense cramping pain!!!! Your stomach is essentially trying to grind everything by hand. Not to mention the duct cramping itself and the back up of bile and liver and pancreatic enzymes, causing those to become irritated. I was prescribed Levsin, to reduce the cramping. Its like a little magic pill! It still takes a while to kick in but it works. If I have any doubt as to if something will cause pain I'll take one first. It works just as well as a preemptive measure. They dissolve under you tongue so you can take it anywhere. Unfortunately, the surgery to fix SOD is really risky. So I just avoid the foods that cause the flare up. I have now added pineapple and pepper/salsa to the list but for some reason I am ok with corn and eggs now. The real kicker that was practically killing me and I couldn't figure it out was Splenda. I was trying to lose weight and practically everything now has sucralose in it. Apparently this is a fairly common side effect. I literally lost 70 pounds because it hurt to "eat" anything. I was drinking it!!! Diet drinks! I rarely have pain now if I avoid those foods but I have a feeling that my body will find something else it doesn't like.
I hope this helps someone. I wouldn't wish this pain on anyone.
BTW - The intense itching - I've dealt with that too! I was told I had "scabbies"! :? I asked if it could be my birth control pills and was told that no one is ever allergic to them. Well I guess Im no one then. I developed huge rashes from them. This same Dr. said "Oh you are probably allergic to the filler in some medications. Exactly. I can't have anything generic. I can't by any off brand medicine, most vitamins and quite a few prescriptions. I have learned to ask for a sample to see if I start itching. It usually start on my hands or feet (not always) and feels like there is something crawling on me and biting me. I call it the "prickly itchies" because some times it kind of "zap" suddenly sometimes.
Again hope this helps.

hi, everyone,
I want to share my story too.. I am having this egg(only white part i am allergic )allergy from child hood. Now i am 30, still i am suffering from it. I have this stomach pain when i eat egg(white part), Big Kidney beans, basil, one full banana,etc... after having a baby i am getting this stomach ache when i wear tight clothes. I got pregnant through IUI, so i went through lot of tests, even carcinoid test... Nothing wrong with me... I think our system can't
digest heavy protein foods...makes gas which gives heavy pain...but for about a year or so i am taking this medicine which i got from my B-in-law, it works good. But after reading this articles above i will sure test for gall bladder stones.
Thanks
sunny.

Hi.
Around 6 years ago i started having the same really painfull stomach pains as everyone else here.
I tried all sorts of indigestion remedies i could find, but to no avail, then somehow i discovered that it was egg white and bananas that were causing me the problems. So i avoided them and anything that contained them for the next 4 years.
For some reason, after all this time, i decided to try just a little egg and found that it was ok. So gradually, i introduced egg back into my diet. I didn't bother with the bananas as i am not too keen on them anyway.
Then 2 weeks ago, i had another attack, which was more severe than ever. I hadn't eaten these foods and could not think what had caused it.
I am now having a bad attack almost every night no matter what i have eaten.
I went to my gp who has prescribed pills for a month which are used to treat ulcers/acid etc, but they don't seem to be working.
The only thing that gives me any relief is an over the counter tablet called ranitidine, so i am just treating myself.
Doctors don't understand how severe this pain is
Take care, Cath

I'm an 18 year old male and I've had this same exact problem with Pizza and other foods. I found this tonight after having a similar attack after eating some homemade beef and rice. I have went to multiple doctors and had a bunch of tests done but none of them can pinpoint what it is. I've even went so far as to record EVERYTHING I ate for a month and I only had 1 of these attacks during this time after eating food that I had eaten at other points in the test and it hadn't affected me.
I have no idea what's causing this or how I can help it, but I just suffer through it and try not to pass out. My attacks generally consist of my sinuses starting to get blocked up like I'm having really bad allergies to something, but it's not quite that. My nose eventually becomes completely blocked up and runs really badly. After that I start to feel nauseous, and soon after that the pains start. They're low in my abdomen around my navel. Generally after suffering through 30 minutes or so of sharp pains I will get extremely sick with diarrhea for times that vary from 1 hours at best to I've even had one last 5 hours before.
Doctors I've talked to can only relate it to a "buildup" of something in my system that eventually just hits the breaking point or something after eating a particular food that contains it. Had one 2 days in a row though so blew that theory out of the water as well.
I dunno, hopefully I will eventually find something that explains it or a doctor who knows what it is.

I get that too, exactly like that even. I've always just blown it off as some side-effect of the pain though. Interesting.

Been suffering from this for a few years now. I was doing some research online and found this. If this sounds familiar ask your Doctor about "sphincter of oddi", it sounds odd (no pun intended)but it's real. These cases from what I've read are often confused with gall bladder stones etc and persist even AFTER the gall bladder has been removed. I have included a description of Sphincter of Oddi malfunctions below:
"When the sphincter malfunctions, it becomes overly tight and does not allow adequate drainage of the pancreatic and bile ducts. The result is a pressure build-up in the ducts, leading to recurrent episodes of pancreatitis or biliary pain mimicking gallstone disease.
SOD is an uncommon disease, so it often takes a while for the diagnosis to be made. Typically, patients who suffer from biliary colic pain or recurrent pancreatitis are investigated for gallstone disease, and many are sent to surgery for gallbladder removal. In most people, gallstones are indeed the causative factor and the pains do not recur. In a small minority of patients, however, the pain continues. It is in these patients that further investigations are done, specifically to evaluate for SOD.
The diagnosis of SOD is suggested by the typical pain or pancreatitis, such as you have experienced, along with lab evidence of pancreatic inflammation and/or abnormal liver enzymes. The diagnostic test of choice is a pressure study (manometry) of the sphincter. Manometry is done with a catheter that is passed into the sphincter through an endoscope that has been placed into the upper intestine, or duodenum. If pressure recordings suggest SOD, proper therapy involves an endoscopic cutting of the sphincter (sphincterotomy). Most patients with SOD have excellent results after sphincterotomy.
It must be noted that manometry of the sphincter is a very specialized procedure that should only be performed by expert endoscopists because it can increase the risk of pancreatitis. In addition to this risk, sphincterotomy for SOD can also sometimes result in perforation of the bowel. Thus, if your doctors are considering SOD as your diagnosis, you should be sure to check that the gastroenterologist caring for you has sufficient endoscopic experience both in diagnosing this condition and in treating it."
I REALLY hope this helps you all and maybe your Doctor will finally realize that your symptoms are NOT psychosomatic (imaginary or caused by emotional factors). Let me know if this helps you!!

I've had similar stabbing pains past couple months that started after taking Antibiotics. I'm thinking that food allergies is the main culprit... you can become intolerant to anything when your body is traumatized.
Here's an interesting story I found about I guy who suffered from stomach pains for a decade then found a cure.
I've started treatments myself with some relief so far (less 'sick to stomach' feelings). I have an appt. next week with a BioSET practitoner, which is a high-tech version of NAET but with an emphasis on detox and personalized enzyme therapy. Should help get rid of food/environmental intolerances.

Hi there, my name is John and i am 33 years and live in sweden.
I get similar stomach pains as some of you when i have eaten fresh bananas, fresh pineapple, apple, carrots and today also from pears and possibly kiwi.
It hurts around my belly button and usually lasts a couple of hours.
The pain can be lasting or sometimes come in waves, it can be good for a couple of minutes and then come back.
So i dont eat those things at all, but sometimes some one has them i their foods when i go to friends.
I am also lactose intollerant (cant drink regular milk)
I have tought to see a doctor before but after reading all your stories i will call for an apointment.
I do have a really good dr, he found out that i had a problem with my Thyroid Gland and now i can function normally after medication :-)
Back to the tummy then, bananas gives me really great pains, the only way i can eat them are when heated up in a pan or owen.
After eating an fresh apple with skin i get pain and a urgent feel to womith, also i get a feeling that i am loosing all my energy and need to sit down for a while.
Actually apple without skin dont give any reaction at all and i can eat apple pie and drink apple juice.
The pear i ate today was with skin and i felt really crappy, i have to try without skin to see if it happens then.
I think ill have to keep record of what food/fruits triggers the pain so i can give my dr the best info.
Best regards, John.

I have had these pains, I managed to beat them for a while but then they returned, they Only returned because of a poor diet that consisted of a sh*t load of pasta's and well junk food things with gluten/glucose/sucrose in them( Since I ate a lot of junk food so consistently my pains came back. I have been to the doctor to and nothing I only had a blood test and urine test nothing came up and since I am pretty sure that for me and may be some of you that my pain is from excess or in general things with gluten/glucose in them. The way I beat my stomach pains was that I was sure it was gluten/glucose/sucrose that was doing it and if you read the ingredients in your foods at a grocery store a sh*t load of them have gluten/glucose/sucrose in them so I got ones that do not and it was hard to find them but it mainly consisted of fresh produce until the pains dissipated for good. I found pasta upset my stomach so the way I overcame it was by eating little to no pasta for a while and substituting it for rice, whole wheat bread not a lot of it but may be a couple pieces a day, and not eating foods with gluten/glucose/sucrose in them until my pains went away. To be more specific I didn't eat foods like fruit snacks, gummies, pop well because its bad for you anyways, cakes, things that had gluten/glucose in them. Regular pasta just upset it( white pasta's) I never tried whole wheat because I think it's gross for pasta, pizza( now for pizza I just asked for a multigrain crust and it tasted as good as the regular crust, eat foods that are whole wheat, mulitgrain 100% though make sure it says 100% whole wheat or multigrain, fresh fruit helps, I limited my milk to a small bowl of cereal so it would be about a cup of milk or you can eat foods with calcium in it instead. I also exercised regularly. I am no doctor or anything but this worked for me and I am on it again because I took eating healthy foods for granted, this may or may not work for you but I thought i would give my experience because the stomach aches and diarrhea and the many tums popping/ sleep lost nights is an extreme hassle.
It has something to do with calcium metabolism and the gallbladder. I was poisoned with vitamin d and my gallbladder hasn't been the same since. I suffer acalculous gallbladder disease and have had a normal hida scan. I don't believe the medical research establishment knows the exact mechanism and hasn't made the connection.
I developed this problem about 5-6 years ago after being on a LowCarb/high fat diet for 2 years. At the time my Dr put me on Zelnorm which worked perfectly for years, until they pulled it off the market. I have since gone off the LC diet but am still eating high fat foods. I have noticed that high fat food cause pain but it depends. Not always, sometimes I can eat french fries, sometimes I can't. I'm not a big meat eater now so I don't notice meat bothering it. Milk bothers it, but I am allergic to milk and am lactose intolerant on top of the allergy. I've had an intestional sonogram which showed nothing. I will start having the pain in my stomach/upper back, then maybe diarrhea or vomiting. If I vomit, the pain stops within a few minutes. If not, it's usually 20-30 minutes. Sometimes belching will make it stop. I also have triggered an attack by being upset about something, so I do believe nerves may be related to the problem. My Dr. said IBS is basically a nervous stomach.
Oh, how I wish they would bring Zelnorm or an equivalent mediation back!

I too am having this problem it started about 3 weeks ago after a big wine tasting event. Ever since then I have been unable to eat anything with gluten in it. I can stomach potatoes, meat, vegetables, yogurt, just fine anything that has a siginificant amount of carbs in it makes my stomach hurt. I went to the doctor and they put me on denatol, which does nothing but make me sleepy and prolong my stomach pain till in the morning. I don't know what to do? I guess i will start that no carb lifestyle sooner than I expected. Thanks for everyone posting their issues I don't feel like I am going crazy.
Add me to the list..i have had the same thing for several years. mine started with severe attacks that lasted 3 days. I couldn't eat or sleep. Now i have severe attacks that last 4 hours with nausea and chills. Usually starts within 15 to 30 min after eating raw nuts, tilapia, bananas and now eggs. I also have smaller attacks that can last up to 4 hours, but not as severe. The smaller attacks can be on anything. one day i can eat something and the next time i eat it...pain, but then i can eat the same exact thing again, and no pain. so weird and annoying. Makes me scared to eat. But i have started noticing if i eat eggs i will have the pain more often with various foods for a couple of days and then i'm better. so if i try to stay away from the "bad" attack foods i seem to do alot better, but my list seems to be growing and i never know when something i eat might become a nasty attack. I'm 32, healthy, and a healthy eater...so who knows! all I know is I've had enough of it!
