That is not cerebral spinal fluid, csf leaks out of your ear canal from a compromised spinal nerve, usually c1-c5. It sounds like to me you are experiencing an infection of this cut or whatever is on your outer ear. Csf is a very serious issue and you would need immediate surgery but this does not sound like any symptoms of that so you should be alright

I had this for years,

The solution was simple but hard to do.

I had to leave my ears alone thats no q tips nothing at all inside my ears for weeks and they dried up.

But

The ich that comes as they dry up is unreal and too hard to stand sometimes and so q tips it is and then they run clear.

So the answer is simple but hard to implement, do not pur anything bigger than your index finger in your ear no cotton wool no tisue no drops or potion just let them dry our and ich ow the ich lol.

joelenaf, its kinda weird hearing someone else having the same problem because like you, I had the same surgery same ear same age lol. but im 23 now and im having the nasty smelling fluid c**p coming out. ive did some research a few weeks ago and from what i found out and im not totally 100% sure but it might be an infection behind the eardrum or (if you've had surgery on your eardrum like ive also had) we could have a ruptured eardrum thats leaking fluid. im actually gonna ask my wifes oby-gyn if he can look in my ear and see if he knows anything, if you want you can email me or ill come on here and tell ya what i find out.

Yes it is a very crazy feeling. You brought something to my attention, I do need to see a dentist, but like you unable to go. Thanks for that in put. My enamel is broken and also a filling just come out. Would have never thought about that. It drives me crazy because the itch is unbearable in my ear.

I dont know if this is really the same, but I've looked all over the internet and I couldn't find anybody with the same thing happening to them. I got my ears peirced about a year ago, and they have long since healed over, because they got infected. Now, the back of my ear (where my ear connects to my head) is leaking a yellowish fluid, that dries crusty after a while. It plays up after I've had a shower, and then it heals for a while, then it  plays up again. It's not a large amount of fluid, but i am ony young (12). My Dad and i have been putting colloidial silver on it to see if that helps, and it does, a bit. It is slightly itchy, but not that bad. I'm really hoping for some easy to understand advice on what to do, can anyone help??!?

Get Mometasone Furoate 0.1% cream. Prescription in US, not in Canada. After 20+ years of this ear problem I found something that works. I used it twice, gone! Now about once a month I can tell I'm going to have the old problem so I use a small amount of the cream once. Amazing stuff. One tube will last many lifetimes. Find a friend who used this cream and try a bit of it.

Yes, Mometasone Furoate is a corticosteroid used for this skin condition. I have used Betametasone, another corticosteroid, for the same purpose. I actually gave up wearing earrings for pierced ears because of that. The cream stops the leaking for awhile but it always comes back. Good luck ragus1234.

Like others I have had this problem, I used to have such bad fluid from behind my ears leaking, it drove me crazy.  And just recently (last week) I have had it from inside my ears (seepage).  How funny when I came on today to offer advice about what meds my doctor had given me that I see "francophone" said the same thing.  I was given Betamethasone Dipropionate Cream .05% for treatment of a kind of eczema/psoriasis.  It worked for me....for seepage/drainage inside your ears with pain, I would ask your doctor about whether you could have "swimmers ear".  I have also been diagnosed with that....frustrating I know....good luck to all!!

Had u ever tried an operation?and what best advice was given to you by your doctor?for me i was told that the two vibrating bones in the ear have stops no sign of vibrating and the ear drum is damage, that's lessen my hearing in the one ear..so the best for me is to entirely close the running ear as i was told by my specialist.

I have suffered from the same irritating symptoms for around 15 years (dripping, itchy ears) .  At one point the ENT doc diagnosed me as having eczma in my ear and gave me some amazing cream I needed to plug my ear up with for a few nights(one at a time).  It worked perfectly and for a few years I was clear, no more qtips and scratching.  Then I went swimming in a pool that hadn't been properly treated, suffered a minor infection and the condition returned.  Frustratingly no doc has since been able to find the cream I was initially prescribed, and the best relief I can get is from putting Sudocream on a qtip.  Sounds strange but it works.  I will go back to the docs, the last one gave me head eczma fluid which stung and did no good at all, so looking for something milder.  I wanted to post this as hearing other people suffer I never would have believed my issue was caused by eczma but the treatment was so effective it has to be correct...................if only I could find the same cream again.

I've had the ear leak problem for over a year now. I heard about a product you can try to stop the leaking -- it is Mario Badescu Control Cream. You can buy it on Amazon. I ordered a jar and started using it a week ago, applying it with a Q-tip. I am amazed that so far the leaking has stopped. All I can hope is that it stay dry from now on -- will post again in a few weeks.

Yes, it worked almost immediately. But after about 4-5 weeks, it reappeared and I had to repeat the treatments. I guess it's not a permanent solution (in my case) but at least the leaking is no longer a daily thing to endure.
