I have been experiencing the same vibrating experiences for about 2 weeks now, on and off, and it does feel as if there is a cell phone set on vibrate, in my left shirt pocket. Although my cell phone has never been in that area. I am also 4 months pregnant and this first starting happening on a Monday morning (it is happening right now), when I got a message that a coworker was unable to go into work, as I am the office manager and would obviously need to fill in for anyone who is unable to come in. I think it is stress related. I had told my doctor and he said not to worry about it. However, my husband thinks otherwise. He wants to know what this is and why this is happening. Seems like a lot of people are experiencing this sensation. It has been happening a lot today, after 12pm. I also and suffering from a migraine as I type this and feeling as if I am going throw up, and throughout my pregnancy, I have not had any morning sickness, plus the chest vibrations that I am feeling. It is making me very worried and I am hoping nothing is wrong and that this will fade away and not affect the baby.

If anyone knows what this is, please let me know.

Ok, well this is interesting and I only came across this discussion because recently it happened to me. It feels just like a cellphone on vibrate only much softer. It started happening the morning after a night of rigorous walking. I hadn't exercised in quite a while. It was scary because the vibrating sensation would occur every 10 minutes and continued this way for two days - over the weekend so I couldn't phone the doctor.

What I did:

I took 325mg of asprin every 4-6 hours and over the course of 24 hours it slowly subsided. I don't know what it was or what caused it but I will exercise again and see if it comes back. If it does, I will go to the doctor because this should not happen.

Your fluttering-and/or electrical pulses sound like heart arrhythmia. Your heart throws extra electrical current causing your heart to go haywire-then it restarts itself and goes back to a normal beat. There are things that trigger this that you can avoid--alcohol, caffeine, drugs, stress, lack of sleep, overexersion--bending over always triggered it for me. Rest time it usually is always more prevelent sometimes to the point it wakes you up at night.
Look up heart arrhythmia on the web--check all your symptoms. If your flutters start to be more consistent--last longer--call your doctor. Arrhythmia is an electrical problem with your heart eventhough your heart is very healthy and strong. It can be controlled by medications or by surgery in more severe cases.
For now, avoid things that trigger fluttering--get lots of rest!!!

My mother had the sensation of, as she called it, "butterflies around my heart". Basically, she was experiencing heart flutters. Her GP told her it was nothing to worry about, and repeated this assertion during a subsequent medical office visit. However, one day the "butterflies" worsened and my mother went to the hospital where the on-call physician ordered tests. She was then sent to see a heart specialist. To make a long story short, my mother was diagnosed with a hole in her heart - something she was apparently born with. Her healthy lifestyle caused her not to have a sudden and fatal heart attack. She had open heart surgery to repair the hole. The "butterflies" (sensation) was caused by the excessive pumping of the heart to combat the leakage. It's been 8 years since her surgery. She has had to have shocks (aka "the paddles") to correct her heart arrhythmia twice. Other than that, she is fine.

If you have heart fluttering, please check it out. It may be nothing, but is worth risking not having it checked?

Hey everyone. I'm a 22 year old, who is slightly overweight. I'm actually up really late tonight because I just can't sleep....for the past few nights, I just haven't been able to sleep because of the fluttering/vibrating in my chest. It's right beneath my left breast, where my heart is. It feels like my heart is vibrating, but when I feel my pulse, it's normal. I have had constant fasciculation in my chest muscles in the past. I have fasciculations in every part of my body, and it's been like that for a really long time. I have also been experiencing pain on my chest, neck and shoulderblades, usually when breathing in.
I've been to the doctor about all of my ailments for a while, but they always say nothing's wrong....it's normal, and the prescribe me an anti-depressant pill...for stress, I suppose. But also, I got the blood tests back form the doctor who said I had a lot of inflammation in my blood, which he recommended me seeing a rheumatologist about.
Other than the other symptoms, I suffer from extreme visual migraines....sometimes so bad that they block out my vision completely. I also have a knee that's always badly swollen....a doc said it was something called chondromalacea. Also, to top everything off, I have itchiness all over my face and back, like red spots or hives I guess.....they just come and go randomly, and usually in the same places. If anyone has any idea what all these symptoms could be, I'd really appreciate it.....especially since the doctor has no idea what I have and can't help me...or doesn't want to.

I just wanted to say, I had low red blood cells count, and it caused me to feel fluttering in my chest,I could not walk upstairs without it going all wonky, and I was in bed off and on for a good few weeks untill I got my Iron levels up to a safe level.....I am not sure if this will help you but maybe you should check your blood count,,,, Also I have a Hiatus hernia, and it causes me all sorts of problems, It feels like a heart attack when it gets really bad, it hits in the middle of the chest and i cant do nothing when it happens...but it also feels as if I am going to pull a muscle down in the left side on occasion...dont give up on yourself kep searching for answers. x

Its very interesting to find this topic. Im 41, fairly fat ,and this has been happening to me for a few months now. Ive been for an ECG twice and they said Im healthy, my blood pressure is ok and they sent me away.

I feel these strange sensations in my left chest area.. and went I first went for the ECG I even had a few twinges in my left arm .. so you can imagine I was really worried.

Ive put on a bit more weight recently, and it almost feels its connected - but thats just a guess. The first time it happened it was after I had got a REALLY stiff neck .. .the second time after I did my back in and had trouble walking properly for a couple weeks. Maybe its just my muscles playing up..

So im going to monitor this topic and follow the news.

Dehydration can do it.

This may be a sign of a Mitral Valve Prolapse..you should check with your doctor to set up an appointment for Ultra Sound of your heart function, it will detect whether or not the valve is leaking, DO NOT DRINK CAFFEINE, SMOKE and LOSE WEIGHT, these are all contributors to the symptoms you present. I am NOT a Doctor, but I complained of the very exact symptoms, and they located a default in the valve, nothing serious yet, but you may at some time need a "PIG VALVE" to replace it if it should get really bad, BTW, STRESS ACTIVATES THIS SENSATION AND CAUSES REGURGITATION (This is what is happening when you get the sensation of fluttering)

The blood does not pass through the valve, as it gets stuck, the blood pools and when the valve "Unsticks" the blood rushes in, causing that fluttering feeling..

Hope this helps..But you SHOULD SEE A DOCTOR TO BE CERTAIN THIS IS THE CAUSE, There are other causes too, like Fibrillation..

I had muscle vibration in many areas of my body and found it was a lack of potassium.  I drink a gatorade a day and now have no issues... If it's heart related I think the Potassium is good in most cases.  Ask a Doc.  Vit deficiencies do crazy things!

Im 14 and i have noticed this happen to me before but only once or twice. Today it has been occurring all day and I am a little worried. A couple years ago my doctor said I have a very small heart murmur so this fluttering feeling on my left side might have something to do with it but im not sure. Someone please figure it out.

I have recently been diagnosed with LBBB (Left Bundle Branch Block) . I have had symptoms which include ,a fluttering feeling in my chest( kind of like a bird flapping its wings in my chest), shortness of breath, feeling dizzy and like I am going to pass out. feeling some pain and heaviness in my chest, and a feeling of tiredness ,fatigue. I have read your posts and thought I would share my experiences .it could be possible that you too have a Bundle branch block . This is usually seen on an EKG. maybe you all should ask your doctor to look for this possibility.  Blessings to you all. I pray you will feel better soon.

This is really hard to explain. I have this sensation in my left-chest area that feels sort of like a "flutter," but yet not. It reminds me of the sensation of when a circuit is short-circuiting in the on/off -- on/off phase, or better yet the way a phone feels when you have it in your pocket and set to vibrate..the on/off -- on/off thing. There is no pain, but the sensation is there and getting more persistent.

Hello,
I read your post and wanted to write as I have the exact same symptoms as you mention; in fact I was amazed as I read your description about the phone being on vibration... This is how I always described it myself! Have you learned anything about this? It's been bothering me for some time now and decided to do some research on the net before heading to the doctor. I would appreciate it if you had anything to share. My email: ******* -- Many thanks - Tony

to all of those experiencing "heart flutter" ( that Dr.'s can't find a reason for) I truely believe it's Gods way of telling us He is in control and will take care of things if you let Him
