I have the same problem of heart flutter - like a phone vibration. It comes on very suddenly, sometimes wakes me up from sleep. I chek my BP and pulse and they are normal at that time of vibration . After the vibration subsides, it leaves pain in wrists , legs etc, I am on Metoprolol 50 MG for the past one and a hakf month now for high BP.

unfortunately i know from experience if it is not happening when they are right there they have no clue, i have have had what you are describing for years off and on, no doctor has ever been able to tell me what is going on and in my case a heart monitor showed nothing out of the ordinary, i am begining to think it might be along the lines of a panic attack, but i don't feel paniced about anything. . . good luck in your efforts

Any additional syptoms; a persistant cough (a few months), numbness in hands/fingers. Best, get GP to check, lungs, air passages and throat.

I have had "flutters" in my breasts and it happens right before I get my period. The strange part is that is almost resonates through my nipple but for just a quick moment. It is impossible to describe to doctors and others because of how oddly and quickly it happens. Any results so far?

I have the exact same symptoms that so many have described about the slight fluttering under my breast. It is kind of like my cell phone vibrating if it were in my pocket. I am hoping someone has an explanation. I am about to get on a flight and am concerned that maybe I should have gone to a cardiologist instead.

Hello, this might be a year late. I am 37 years old with the same feeling. Believe it or not, the way I have noticed it would go away every time I have that feeling is, I always have Gas-X (Generic of course) on hand. When it starts up, I take 2 gel caps and 2 times a day for 3 days, it takes it away. I have no idea what it is. Blood tests, Upper GI tests conducted with X-Rays and EKGs. Everything comes back normal. I have this occur at lease 2 times a year and control it with Gas-X. Funny thing.

I have a theory as to why this "fluttering" sensation can occur in the left chest. Given that this sensation commonly occurs during anxiety, I believe that increased sympathetic input* (*see below) to the heart may be the culprit. Increased sympathetic input to the heart causes the heart to contract(beat) more powerfully, sending a local shock wave in to the muscle and tissue around the heart. This shock wave causes the local tissue and muscle to vibrate, producing this fluttering or vibratory sensation that you may feel.

*Increased sympathetic input: this can be due to a number a things - basically anything that increases your fight or flight response, such as anxiety, fear, stress, infection, stimulant medication, or any condition in which your heart must pump faster and more powerfully to provide your body with oxygen (e.g., anemia, hypovolemia, heart problems, breathing problems, etc).

You are on track with the "short circuit". If there is a tiny misfire in the electrical system of your chest wall muscle, it will echo across that muscle and on to the next and the next. You might look at it as a mini seizure in your chest wall muscles. It is not dangerous. When you feel it and take your pulse, you are not feeling you heart skip beats. I know this is hard to believe when you are the one feeling it. You are actually feeling the electrical discharge. I have had this problem for a very long time and got this information from a very wise old cardiologist.
