I ended up going to an endodontist (specializes in nerves, root canals, etc) who retreated the old root canaled tooth. It's been 2 months and the pimple/blister has not been back. He said that when he opened up my crown (the tooth was capped after it was root canaled 10 years ago), he saw how much infection was there.  He said he was surprised I didn't have my problem sooner.  Before, when I press down on my cheek, the area where the pimple appeared before it did always felt sensitive. Now, it's not. If the dentist you saw is not a specialist, I would suggest checking out an endodontist. My regular doctor was no help. I had to see another general dentist for a second opinion who ended up referring me to the endodontist. Best thing I did.

I have the same thing as you and in the same position as you described. Mine appeared a few days after I got that tooth filled up. Occassionally, I pop it and let the puss out and it heals, however comes back months later. I did not have that problem until the dentist filled my tooth, so I'm scared to go back. However there is no pain and since the puss drains out, I'm thinking there's no danger.

pressure on teeth is caused by an infection up at the top of the root. This infection may or may not bother much, but it will do a lot of harm. IT will eat bone and eventually if not taken care of, you will lose the tooth. It can also become very dangerous to your health. Overall, root canal treatment is no different then getting a crown or filling done.

This is exactly what ia happening to me right now. I am 36 weeks pregnant and have medicaid. I went to the dentist on wed because I was experiencing pain on one of my teeth towards the back. The dentist said that it looked to be fine and that I am probably just putting too much pressure on that particular tooth. It is now sunday, I've been experiencing pain for the last two days and this morning a huge pimple looking thing appeard on my gums. I dont know what to do, the pain has subsided on the tooth itself, however it has now developed in the pimple looking thing!!! Stressed and in Pain!

I have the same exact thing, but right past my upper left canine. Every couple of days I pop it. At first it was always full of blood, now white stuff comes out (I assume puss). I can't afford to go to dentist yet until I pay my Care Credit, anyone can get this card. I think mine has an $800 limit, and you make low monthly payment. You can also use your own card on kids & your pets. For people who cannot afford insurance, when Medi-Cal won't pay for certain services now.

Hopefully my review will help anyone who can't have access to a dentist due to lack of insurance. Two years ago I got a root canal done in Perú, yes, there. My dental insurance premium was really high so since I was on vacation and medical services back home are excellent and fair priced, I went to my family dentist. He did an excellent job. However last year, after a year of having the root canal done, this white pimple appeared on my gum, right on top of that root canal tooth. It bothered me and it was red and smelly. Thanks God I was in Peru (I travel twice a year), so I went to the same dentist, he cleared the affected area, getting rid of the pus and did a deep cleaning, he prescribed antibiotics and told me they were strong antibiotics but to wait until the next day to see how my gum was after the cleaning. I never took the antibiotics, even though I bought them, because the same night it totally looked healed. After he saw me the next day, he said it was due to incorrect cleaning and he suggested ways to proper clean my bridge and the rest of my teeth. 4 months later, back in the US, the same pimple appeared, ugh!. Thanks God! My husband got a new dental plan which covered 100% . So I went to this dentist in Oakland, CA. He cleaned and prescribed antibiotics. 2 weeks later, the same pimple appeared, this was weird! So I went back to the dentist and he referred me to a root canal specialist, he thought because I had the root canal done in Peru, it could have been done wrong. Medicine in Peru is pretty advanced but oh well!. So I went to the root canal specialist, after the 3D X-rays or whatever is called, the specialist said there was nothing wrong with that root canal and that I should be seen by a jaw specialist o.O I decided to call today my peruvian dentist to tell him what they were doing here. He suggested it'd be a good idea to be seen by the jaw specialist but he definitively believed that this is due to improper teeth cleaning, he said (because I have a bridge in that area) sometimes the food can't even be cleaned out with the floss, that I have to start not only being a teeth-clean freak but I should start chewing on the other side. I feel more calm now, he said I don't need to take antibiotics because i'd need them if the bacteria were stuck in a way that it can't get out, but the pus is being cleaned and/or I'm pressing the pimple to clean it out so there wasn't a risk to store bacteria. I will see the jaw specialist and see what's his diagnosis. I'll keep you posted ;)

I am like you, terrified of dentists. I have a deep cavity in several of my teeth, have had these cavities for quite some time (like... idk, 5 or 6 years). My left K9 tooth is half missing (the cavity has progressed so much that I've had parts of the tooth come out while I'm eating or chewing gum), and I know that it's infected. I went to a dentist about a year ago, and he said that I would need a root canal in that tooth back then... He pulled two other teeth at that visit, and said I would have to reschedule for the RC. I am extremely afraid of dentists, and so I haven't made another appointment. Also, I think he did something wrong with the extractions he did, because I can still feel something beneath the gums in those places.

So, my left K9... I developed a small bubble in the gums, just above the tooth, and a little further back (like between the K9 and the next tooth back) soon after I saw the dentist last year. I had a lot of pain from the cavity, and discovered that I can't eat certain things anymore because some foods get stuck in the tooth, and hurt it worse. This bubble, one day turned white - like a white head, but much bigger than an average white head. I popped it, and a lot of puss came out, followed by blood... it left an open sore there for about 4 days, then the entire thing went away.

It has come back, over and over again. I keep popping it, and the same thing happens. Puss, then blood, my gums in that area are purple now, and flatter than the rest of my gums. But it stays for about a week, and I keep popping it. Then it'll go away for a month or two maybe, then it's back. Same thing over and over for a year now. I have a lot of pressure when the bump appears, and I can tell when it's on the way to showing back up again, because if I push on my cheek or the side of my nose, I can feel the pressure. It's like a sinus infection, or a sinus headache.

The pain also travels down my jaw, and into my neck/shoulder. I think it has affected other nerves in my face as well.

I'll try to make an appointment soon to see what can be done about it, but I wonder if I've let it go for too long already. I don't want to have a surgery, but at this point, the infection may have spread and I may have no choice.

My suggestion is that if you don't want the rest of your health compromised, at least go in for some reassurances that it is "normal" or else have your tooth pulled, so you don't have to worry about it becoming more infected and impacting.

your post was over a year ago, so I sure hope all was well with you and your baby! I'm replying because your situation recalls a very dangerous miscarriage my mother had as a result of a tooth infection. It went septic, poisoned her fetus, which then poisoned her. She lost all vital signs before being brought back. I wouldn't have thought a tooth infection could be so serious, but I'm aware because of my mom.
I'm disturbed that the basic health people weren't sensitive to this potential threat to your pregnancy.
