Hello, I have been having a headache that will not end for 3 months. I am scared that it won't go away. My Dr. has sent me to a nuerologist. I am making an appointment today. I feel sometimes I have migraines and other times I have other headaches. Sometimes the meds help and other times they do not. Drinking soda, coffee and tea help. So I am getting tested with a new Dr soon. I hope you feel better.

I suffered from a constant 24-7 headache for 6 months and them again for a year. It was tension headache type with stiff neck, achey muscles, loss of appetite, insomnia. I knew there was something seriously wrong & yet doctors kept trying to tell me it was only tension headache & to take these pain meds. For me the headache (& overall sickness) was hypoglycemia & down adrenal glands caused by drinking alcohol. Adrenal glands can get stressed from drinking, coffee, & a lot of stress and anxiety. I would suggest changing your diet (cutting out ALL sugar) NO COFFEE NO ALCOHOL (they are the WORST for you) & see if the headache improves over a couple months. Doctors often overlook nutrition & give out pain meds which mask the problem & make it worse. I was given a corticosteroid which further weakened my adrenals & gave me eye focussing problems for over a year. Also think about your family's health history. I have type 1 diabetes & hypoglycemia in my family which gave me the clue that my problem was blood sugar related. Hope this helps

I can understand you pain completely. I have suffered from a daily chronic headache since May 12, 2010. No one can understand what I'm going through and I've had to quit my job because of it. I get scared too because every tests I've had (A TON) all come back normal. Have you tried nerve blocks? They didn't help me but might help you. I even had a peripheral nerve surgery to try and numb the pain in Washington D.C. by Dr. Ivica Ducic if you'd like to look him up. I'm sorry you too have to deal with this chronic daily headache issue as it could be very depressing and hard to deal with and understand. : ( If you have any other issues please feel free to ask more questions and I'll listen and try and respond. Take care. T

I have the same issues. I'm a 26 yo female. My head is always throbbing from the time I wake up until the I fall asleep. It started suddenly 4 months ago as a dull ache while I was at work and intensified as the day progressed. I also sometimes get dizziness and nauseous from it to the point now where I'm terrified to even drive. I rarely ever got a headache before and no one in my family has a history of headaches or migraines. I have been to so many doctors, specialists and even a chiropractor and no one has been able to help. I have also been to an eye doctor to rule that out too. I've been told it was allergies, then a sinus infection and then given anti-biotics, which did nothing. I've have blood tests for everything that all comes back normal, CT's, MRI and X-Rays. I've been on at least 15 different medications, hydrocodone, Tylenol 3, muscle relaxers, anti-depressants, fioricet, amitriptyline and so on. I can tell you nothing has helped at all. At the most it dulled it from a 9 to a 6. I've also done the headache journals without conclusion. The neurologist has me on nortriptyline now which of course does not do a thing for me. There was a point where they thought it was rebound headaches and the doctor slowly took me off everything and there was no change in my headache. Most days I'm curled up in bed in total darkness because it hurts so badly. My doctor admitted me to the hospital for 2 days this week for more tests (LP, another MRI, more blood tests) which all came back fine. I don't know what to do any more. Before this started I was a very active, healthy person. I'm about to lose my job because most days I'm in so much pain that I can't concentrate or think. If I lose my job then I will no longer have insurance either. My life has done a complete 360 in 3 months. I don't know what else to do. I'm about to give up on doctors as they can't seem to help or manage what is going on. I'm unsure of whether or not they are taking me seriously. I'm glad I stumbled upon this post even though it's fairly old. At the very least I know I'm no longer alone. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I wish I could give you an answer - my husband woke up almost 4 years ago with dizziness - became a constant headache and now he takes vicodin every day just to keep the headache manageable - he had every test known to man and we still don't have a clear picture - as of right now, he has been experimenting with migraine meds which aren't working - nortriptyline made his dizziness worse - we went to the Mayo Clinic in Feb. of 2011 and they suggested a neuromuscular issue - if you are close to any of the Mayo clinics you might want to schedule an appointment - they look at everything you have had done - we went to Jacksonsville FL and in three days he saw 4 different doctors - it may give you a new direction - also, Johns Hopkins has an excellent headache department - went there too - good luck - please keep posting as I would like to know if you find a solution.

I finally got an appointment at the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago IL earlier this week. They didn't help at all and told me it's a migraine and I was having a hard time explaining to them what exactly was going on because they wouldn't let me get a word in without interrupting me and assuming my symptoms. The doctor said to stay on the nortriptyline because it takes time to work. I have an appointment today with the neurologist who originally prescribed the nortriptyline in the first place. I'll let you know if I find anything out.

I posted a little while ago and including my own post it just seems people are posting the same stuff with no luck =( well i have to go see another specialist soon to get better medication to ease the pain. Now I know this isnt exactly the legal solution and I dont smoke but i had a joint (rolled myself just weed no cigarette i dont wonnna smoke nasty cigs) anyways i was experimenting I smoked it when my pain was at its peak Didnt take much for me to ge high like i said i dont smoke but its the most pain free peace i have had for several months, I only had enough 1 joint so i plan on getting more to smoke regularly for a couple of weeks and see if it might help....

I know not much of an answer but its the only pain relief that i have found that works if anybody finds anything else please say

regards

Aj

No, actually his headaches have been worse for the last couple of weeks, the only thing that dulls them is vicodin - go back to a neurologist opthomologist next week - He is still dizzy also - do you have this also?

Wow ok so I to have had a constant headach for two months and nothing works. I just started doing research and am finding many people who have the same problem. Its near the front of my head and both sides. I am going to see a doctor monday but from the looks of it nobody really knows a definitive solution.

Good luck - my husband has had dizziness and pressure/pain in the front and sides of his head for three years - had all tests....nothing - he finally went to an allergist and found that he is allergic to animals (we have two dogs) and all kinds of weeds - he will be starting allergy shots in 2 weeks - this might be something you could look into before a neurologist starts all the testing.
