Here is my story, I gave up smoking november 3 years ago, and here I am still feeling worse than ever, before giving up smoking I think i visited the doctor every 10 years + If that, here I am 3 years in and I could be there weekly, I have never Never been this poorly and had I had know this then i would never had quit to begin with, All the things we read see on the TV doctors harping on about stopping will make you better stopping will make you better and finally stopping will make you feel better is an absolute load of tripe, I constantly have a cold flu, constantly am gagging and cannot clear my throat, my taste buds have gone to hell, tight chested shallow breathing and the says "are you still off the ciggys" with a smirk..... almost like he loves me being there as he is getting paid more, I would never recommend someone give up smoking and frankly i think all the promises are absolute lies !

I recently quit smoking on January 11, 2018 after having the flu. I found a home remedy of Cream of Tartar in orange juice every morning for the first month helped me flush my system from the cigarette toxins. I still have the craving for nicotine but I am not coughing and have more energy.

Well I’m 2years off the smokes now and I have to say it I felt a lot healthier when I was a smoker and I enjoyed it I really don’t know y I gave up lol maybe the money side of it . The thought s of taking up again just so I didn’t feel out of breath are always close then people who smoke come close and the smell really bad I never realised I smelt the same . So if your given up or trying congratulations it’s a huge step . Remember it’s for u

I am reading your post and feeling relieved! I have been smoke free for 40 days now and am feeling emotionally crippled. I had no idea this was a part of quitting. Thank you for posting , I hope you are feeling much much better. I know I will get there eventually as well

Brandon again! hitting 14 months off. I really can say that im outta the sh*t so to speak. I really am feeling normallish again. no crave, no fog, no health anxiety or anxiety in general. As time goes on you just learn to forget it all. The true key for me hasn't been diet or exercise, vitamins, none of that, (I still try to keep up with that) but for me, keeping my ass busy has been the key. I quickly realized that when I was occupied, I didn't feel sick, or in pain, or worried or anxious. just when I stopped doing whatever I was doing, I love to build cars, so when I would stop I would notice, hey, I feel great. Then I would think about how I felt. then id feel crappy again. so I just kept myself busy. and now its pretty much all gone, and ive committed to working on better breathing and losing the few pounds I packed on in the process. Keep at it everyone!

This is so similar to what's happening with me. I quit smoking 5 months ago after i was diagnosed with asthma due to smoking, then once quitting, i got the cold & flu more easily, and recently found out i had developed pneumonia. I've since taken antibiotics for that, and also been using my preventers. But im still worried about developing more serious health issues... I really thought quitting would instantly make me feel more energised, but it's been the complete opposite. Most days its a struggle to breath normally, let alone trying to exercise or get fit.

I quit smoking 2 years ago after smoking about 40 years. I still don't feel the benefits of quitting. I felt a lot better when I smoked. My bp went up, my cholesterol level went up, I gained weight, I sometimes struggle to breath. I wonder what is worse, smoking or the symptoms I have now.

I had a friend or two that have ended up dieing from pneumonia after quitting smoking. One of their doctors said when you quit you don’t cough as much and thus the mucous in your lungs don’t clear making flu colds and pneumonia easy to get.
