Hello all, I am 60 years old and I started experiencing the same symptoms since a month ago. I can feel the heavy palpitations and missing heart beat (highly irregular). It is mostly accompanied by cough. Difficult to say which causes the other. It lasts for some time and back to normal. It looks as if the heart is trying to slowdown and the cough makes it to run.
Two weeks ago I saw a Cardiologist and went through ECG, ECHO and TMT. His diagonise was that my heart is normal and structurally healthy. He only changed my Medication from one table to another for Hyper tension.
His advice was that it is mostly stress related or Caffine. My coffee consumption is very little and stress is not anything new of specific. He said there may be some unknown causes also.
One thing that strikes me is that I started foregoing my Dinner (except for a glass of milk) a month ago and I wonder whether this could be a possible reason. But I doubt very much.
The worst part is the more you think of it, it seems to happen more. Hence I am trying to keep busy otherwise.
Any feedback is welcome.
I am up at 11:54 p.m. because I wanted to see what may be causing my similar symptoms. I've always felt my heart jump off and on (had been diagnosed in childhood w/mitrol valve prolapse), but for the past month my heart feels as though it's doing summersaults, and it makes me cough. It tends to only happen when I'm trying to sleep. I am a 57 year old female, do have a lot of stress, am overweight by 40 lbs, and have extreme insomnia.
