This has been going on for many years. I happen to visit an allergist and I am allergic to anything with a pit berries, cherries, tomatoes, apples, pears.... No more smoothies. But I did remove those items from my diet - very difficult and my outbreaks stopped. except when I cheat and eat those items. This may be different for someone else or helpful.

This happened to me and it turned out to be bed bug bites. For some reason they always appeared in pairs, even though the typical bed bug pattern is three in a row. It took nearly a month of me getting bit before I got three in a row for the first time (across my neck) and realized I was dealing with the worst case scenario. We found the infestation in my box spring right after that.

I left a message on here about a year ago saying I was going thru the same problem 2 bite marks, check the room for bed bugs and found none so I thought I must be allergic to something, doctors could not figure it out kept giving me steroid creams. One night felt something on me and guess what, it was bed bugs. Located in the box spring underneath the lining.

Did anyone ever get a definitive answer about this? I'm having the exact same issue. Two bumps about an inch apart. Last for about a week, fine for two weeks and then more show up; very itchy, start of swollen and then reduce to a small bump. Went to a dermatologist and she seemed sure it was a bite, but Ive had a canine bed beg inspection wih a pretty definitive no. I plan to buy some glue traps to see if it could be some other kind of creepy crawly, but the strangely regular but infrequent appearance makes me question that it's a bug. My two theories currently are rat mites (we've had rats in the past but as far as I know currently have been rat free for a while) and based on this thread my other shot in the dark would be allergies. Around the time of the first appearance I start getting allergy shots and wondering if it could be a strange, delayed reaction to that. Any thoughts or other theories would be greatly appreciated!

Ours ended up being carpet beetles. They don't bite, the bumps we're allergic reactions to the hairs in the larvae.

Check for mold, I had mold coming through heater vents from a messed up heat vent connection.

Crazy, I'm having the same issue, just in the past 2 months. 2 red hives, no apparent center skin break that you would think you would see if it was a bite. Always and inch or two apart and always 2. First time 2 months ago on left arm tricep, second time 4 weeks ago on my torso side just below my rib cage, and again on my right arm tricep 3 days ago. I am going to tear open my box spring and take a look. I was thinking it could be medication related, but its the same medication I have taken off an on for years, never had this happen. I don't have any animals. No idea what this could be. Got full blood work about 7 months ago, all good, so I am guessing/hoping there is no serious illness involved.

Same in the beginning I thought it was bed bugs or something but I check every night and I still can find anything leading me to a conclusion

Mine also ended up being carpet beetles (still trying to figure out how to get rid of them). Check your window sills for tiny little bugs, about the size of a pin head, as the adults are attracted to light.

If anyone has had any luck getting rid of them, let me know how!

Oh wow I thought I was the only one. I have this too and don't understand it. I especially don't understand it leaving the dark discolor when it's gone.

I thought it might be bed bugs or scabies as well but my husband is fine. I get them on my ankle and one appeared on my wrist. It can't be carpet beetles either because I don't have carpet where I work has carpet and I'm the only one that works there. I also wondered if it had anything to do with their dog.

I have been treating it like poison ivy, but am beginningbtonthinknitbis something different. I wipe down affected area with a cotton ball soaked with rubbing alcohol then apply calamine lotion. It's relief...but doesn't seem to be stopping the spread. Doesn't look like the normal poison ivy...sure would like to find out what it is and how to treat.
