James, have you tried loperamide (Imodium)?
Reply

I tried several times to quite and finally took the advice to try loperamide. Previously, I thought people recommended it for the diarrhea w/d part only. After taking enough of them, got a pleasant surprise - no w/d symptoms of any kind. Seven years of addiction, taking approx. 100 mg daily, thinking it would never end without a battle I believed I would never win.

Now, using loperamide I am two months clean! I thought about the pills the first month, but didn't suffer. It's not trading one addiction for another. When the loperamide wears off, no problem now that the opiates are out of my system. It is so much easier than cold turkey. I have pain, but feel good otherwise and have my life back.

Are you talking about James?

Hi April. Was wondering if you are doing ok. No one understands unless they have been through it. You will get moral support here.

I'm doing great! Nothing since Christmas Eve! Was really tough but wanted to do it cold turkey. Day 3 was the worst, it always has been for me not sure why but made it through it. I'm not a huge weed smoker but I smoked weed at night for a while to sleep it REALLY helps. Made me stop thinking about wanting them. Smoked some weed with my bf and laughed my ass off at stupid things we were watching on tv lol felt like absolute c**p still but laughing gives you natural endorphins so it helped. Thats a huge part of it trying to get your body to produce natural endorphins, listen to music, take vitamins, go for a walk, EAT CHOCOLATE! lol I haven't been this happy in a long time but now that I don't take them anymore I have more energy, no mood swings, more money! I cannot believe the damage I was doing, the spending I was doing I was ruining us. But! putting everything back together now and couldn't be happier. Its REALLY hard but Its so worth it. All it takes is time!

I personally did the taper down method. I was a snorter & the worst part has been the actual habit of snorting & migraines(the initial reason I was prescribed pain meds). I have found that anti diarrhea meds & ibuprofen have been a life saver. It may sound dumb but for the actual physical dependency of snorting I have crunched Tylenol. I know sounds silly but it does help. I am starting day 3 of being completely clean & I actually feel normal, or at least what I can remember normal felt like after 2 1/2 years if daily use. I would do any pain meds I could get my hands on... I kept a log of my usage and cut down a pill a day & my last week I was only doing 1/4 of a 5mg at a time making just one pill last a day... I wish everyone the best of luck. Just make sure ur mentally prepared & it's something you want 2 do for yourself. I promise it will be worth it! Willpower is a wonderful tool in this battle for a long happy drug free life :-) If I can do this, anyone can... && if u need to talk or have questions I will be happy to help. Good luck & best wishes my friends!!

I have also found that having my boyfriend next to my side has helped tremendously. I am also a very active person & work extremely hard at 3 jobs. Staying active & busy seems to keep my mind off of things... Activity & moral support can make u or break u so try to have all of your ducks n a row before you decide to get clean :-)

well maybe i can help some i got some expereince 1 thing you can take if its legal in your state/country is kratom its a legal opiate a member of the coffee fammily if your like 18+ in most states i think some you got to be 19-21 to obtain it and indiana its illegal......the alkiliods in it effect the same recpetors as opium and has been used to ween people off of opiates other benifits is that just like marijuana there has been 0 reported deaths reguarding people takeing straight kratom if you take to much you will throw it up.....just like any opiate you can become physicaly dependent on it....as im writeing this post i am 100% mentaly addicted to it and trying to detox persay i use to take it for like a weekend thing or if i needed to clean my appartment ((cleaning is fun on kratom)) and its an awsome pain killer soo id take it when im hurt......what has gotten me in my current perdictiment with the plant is that i recently got a herniated disc i been in severe pain for 2 out of 3 months i had to dose many times a day and had to take high doses to knock me out so i could sleep im now not in as much pain and its got its hooks in me ......the withdraw isnt as bad as other opiates out there and last 5 days to 1 week soo in my book its alot smaller of a monster the the poppy based stuff

now onto other stuff i recomend .........cause i got anxiety problems to everything i list i personaly have used
k start eather A drinking green tea alot or B find things in it with L-theanine L-theanine is an amino acid that has been prooven to reduce both the physical and mental symptoms of stress and anxiety

vallarian verry nice stuff though 20% of the worlds population has an adverse reaction were its an upper instead of a downer if your in the normal poppulation take some to help you sleep at night and take less dureing the day to help with anxiety

KAVA this one is one of the more awsome herbs i deal with .....its used as an alcohal subsitute its described as haveing ALL the benifits and none of the draw backs to alcohal there is no known overdose level and if you drink to much instead of a hang over the next day is the most lazyest day of your life....no one wants to fight on kava ......i 1000000000000% recommend this one .....only draw back is the taste.........this stuff tastes fowl i mean its horrible .......the flavor is described as spicy dirt water ......outside of the flavor though i highly recomend it also its kinda got a reverse tollarance the longer you take kava the less you need to acheive your results now yogi has a kava tea dont fallow the instructions cold brew it instead of hot brewing heat kills the kavatones and the kavatone is what gives us the benifit the yogi tea does taste better then straight kava but you would have to whip up the whole box to get a descent kava feel in 1 batch :) anyways i could write a whole artical just on this one alot i hope these help

I am on day 6 of my withdrawals, I was using about 15 10mg norcos a day for a year. The first time I went through withdrawals I went to outpatient which is the best bet. Although, this time no health care so I got an 8th of ganja. First 5 days I was high non stop, the higher you get the better it works. You'll find yourself waking up every 4 hours to take a hit, but totally worth it when you feel like sh*t. Also take long hot showers and you'll get a bunch of energy from the ganja mid day, use that to your advantage and go for a run(pretty much just sweat ALOT). The worst part to me is the depression, all the emotions you blocked come to bash you. But be strong, you might not feel like a good person. But you are f*****g awesome! Nobody understands how tough addiction is and how it affects ones actions, I'll tell ya I felt better bleeding out in a trench(reason prescribed norcos) than withdrawing. -Machine gunner 0331 Marine core

Yes that was me, sorry I haven't answered in a while but I have to say the gentlemen who suggested Kratom could not be more right! If used responsibly it takes all of the WD's away! The stuff has been a miracle for me, more people who want to get off opiates should go buy this stuff, it is the perverbial "magic pill". I am know 1 month clean from prescription pills and now getting ready to stop the kratom use as well (slow taper just in case) I really appreciate all the kind words of encouragement as this was one of the hardest things I've done in my life (and I was a cop for 20 yrs!). Please believe me, if you are going through withdrawals you need to try Kratom, it saved my life and I will forever be grateful. P.S Kratom is only illegal to purchase in 2 states, so check before you purchase. James

Kratom is a life saver. which can now be bought in pill form. For those who do not like the taste of the tea. Also a huge huge help is Loperamide this can not be stressed enough. I was taking over 20 10mgs of lortab a day for several years and just got tired of the way they made me feel so i flushed over 200 down the toilet. without any plan whatsoever just said f**k it im done. First few days was pure hell bc i had no idea how or what to do. Then I read somewhere about lope. hauled my sick ass to the store and bought a boat of it.. I downed at least 15 right there in the parking lot and 45 mins later I felt as close to normal as i had in years. Now it will clog u up and when you finally go to the bathroom good luck but its loads easier than feeling like your gonna die, Trust me this sh*t works. good luck and dont let this sh*t beat you

I am on my third day of no opiods! I first started slow then went up and up the past couple months! They were proscribed but I took them to help me with my day such as work and kids exc! I'm wondering how long will it be before I feel normal! The worst part is being depressed! I have a history of it as well and yesterday my doc have me a mood enhancer for bypoler! I just want to be happy again and enjoy my life! And all together I've been on them about a year but real hard for 2 or 3 months!

Hi all, I'm 19- been addicted to any and every kind of pain reliever since I was 13. Mainly because I'm a girl and got menstrual cramps from hell, but then I inherited some monster migraines, and it doesn't help that I'm overweight. I've been taking Percocet, oxy, morphine- you name it, I've tried it. My mother is how I started all of this, but now we're out of money (I'm the only one in my family that works) and it's time to kick this. I'm on day 2 and all I want to do is cry- I can eat, etc etc, and I don't have the runs, but oh my god the pain in my back is more than enough to relapse but alas, no money. Does anyone know how to help the pain? Simple naproxen doesn't really help anymore..
