What can you tell me about living with just one kidney? How long can you survive? I mean, it looks like my left kidney will have to be removed and I would like to know what will happen afterwards. Doctor said that I should be just fine, but how can I when my kidney will be extracted?

It is very inspiring to see the comments and the living testimony here. My wife will undergo an operation after a month and i am the one very scared of that. (not showing it to her :)). She's very strong and not afraid of the situation. Still i am researching for her all the dos and don't.Good luck everyone.
hi all i have problems with the mony and i wanna sale one kidney
Due to some economic crisis
My doc thought i had A malignant tumor (small) nothing to be to concernered about but still had to remove with 40% of my right kidney. Turns out this tumor was not cancerous at all just one my doc had never never seen. Not 40% But the entire kidney! For whay reason he has yet tp fully to explain! it was a tumer that would have evevtually have to be removed because it would grow and take over the kidney (so say the surgion who should have known for fact and not just assumed! NOT with my kidney! I wpuld sp like to. . . . . .!!!!!
I have lived with one kidney all of my life, you are perfectly capable of living with only one. There are just some precautions you will have to take. Make sure you always drink a lot of water I cannot stress this enough, also make sure you stay away from rough sports such as tackle football and wrestling. You do not want to damage it. One consequence to not drinking enough water is that it increases the chance of a Kidney Stone. Now speaking from experience you do not want to let yourself get that far. If you are big into sports it is possible for you to buy a Kidney Belt. There is a link for that below. This will allow you to play your sports to a certain degree. For others who say that they are having side pains/troubles please call a doctor, for this may mean that you have a Kidney stone or another dangerous health issue.***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***

If i want to donate my kidney . . . .so is there any problem to survive with one KIDNEY . . . ?
I was born with only 1 kidney as well, and I didn't find out until I was 21 years old, when my OB found that I have 2 female reproductive systems. I am 23 now and have lived the same life all of my friends have. No changes, and haven't noticed anything different about myself compared to them.
what is the longest and shortest life span for living with 1 kidney
Jim, I was the donor for my son 12 yrs. ago. He had IGA nephropathy. His now a new dad. Meds for life with anti reject. Bp and occasional uric acid flus. Our life is in Gods hand. And thankful with the Dr and technology. I'm 56 working and I feel pretty good with one kidney.
If there was a problem with surviving, would I be able to write to you right now? I am 31 now.
