Im 18 and I was born with High blood pressure and basically 1 functioning kidney( the other is the size of an infants kidney & not functioning). I recently have been taken off my high blood pressure meds and thought it would affect my kidney since i been on meds all my life. Recently I graduated got a little carried away with drinking, and been scared that I hurt my other kidney. I also relized that its my GUILTY CONSCIOUS saying look get it together... I've been scared lately that I was killing my self, because I over do everything. Reading Yall's replies made me feel better because, like I said im only 18 & you guys are older then me and still pushing. I would drink more sugary(if a word) things, but im so scared that Im going to die that i drink water every day like thats the only thing in my house. I feel soo much better knowing that im not the only one who is living with 1 functioning kidney. Iguess another reason i was scared because my mother died at a young age because of health reasons... I feel much better reading everybodies comments.. :).

you can actually live without both kidneys, my mum found out she only had one kidney at the age of 49 after living a very normal life, after developing an adrenal tumour on her only kidney ahe had the tumor removed and a nephrechtomy, she then lived with NO kidneys on dialysis

i want to know your life with 1 kidney pls reply
I cannt really say i live normally because my lifestyle had to change for me to adjust... that includes eating no salt, no drinking of alcohol...but recently my doctor suggessted i shud be taking beer from time to time since it cleans the kidney...I feel tired most of the tym..and myu worst fear is whether i will be able to give birth having only one kidney...if u know of any implications with regard to pregnacy and one kidney please lrt me know...
This way you can live without the heart too. You just have a pump that works like a heart, but you are "good" only for about 6 months. Saying things like you can live without both kidneys is silly. From dialysis eventually you develop complications, you can't be on dialysis forever without any complications.
you can live with 1 kidney your blood just wont be as clean as normal but you will be just fine
i had one kidney removed (left) when i was 9 years old, i am now 58 and i must admit i never really took
extra precautions because of it, (typical male, still spent my youth drinking, partying with the boy's but not to excess)
probably the only thing i did do was cease physical sports which could have contact with that area of the back.
live a normal life and don't stress about it, sttressing might be more harmful to you than anything else.
XD it'll do you good !!
hey i was born with one kidney and i am now 17.... soooo....
