What can you tell me about living with just one kidney? How long can you survive? I mean, it looks like my left kidney will have to be removed and I would like to know what will happen afterwards. Doctor said that I should be just fine, but how can I when my kidney will be extracted?

My right kidney was removed in September 2016 at the age of 56 years old due to cancer. I am now 68 and still healthy. I do not need to take any medication. I visit my Urologist every 9 months with blood tests, sometime chest x-rays, ultrasonic abdomen scan or CT scan reports. There is no restriction on my diet and I eat practically everything in moderation. During my consultation visits, I come across some people whose average age is 78 and had one kidney removed 25 to 28 years ago. Hope to live to 80+ if possible. Above writer is absolutely correct. See your urologist asap.
What is 6months year old?? Who told you that a kidney is small?? Related to your head maybe. Cranberry juice is not necessary and in fact may cause undo work, water is just fine. It depends on your intake as to how hard it works. There are more than enough filtering cells in one kidney to do an ample job as long as intake is sensible and monitored. There might be another missing organ in your case. You know, everything is everything!
