I feel your pain. I was just diagnosed with it and have had it, I suppose, for about 2 and a 1/2 days. My jr prom is in 3 weeks and I'm kind of depressed that when I smile in my big moment, it will be a paralyzed half smile that makes me look as though I've been injected with novacaine. I'm kinda sad about it.... My doctor said that it can last anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months, usually. With a few people, they have it for a year or the rest of their lives. Good luck with yours and to everyone else.

Nine years is a long time. I am recovering from Bell's Palsy. You have a severe case. Have you checked into doing a surgical procedure to try to reactivate the nerves? It sounds like you have a more permanent case and a surgical procedure might be something to consider.

I have had Bells Palsy now for 9 months.  I just figure God wanted to tap me on the head and tell me to sit still for a minute..:0)  I was a dancer for years and always relied on my looks...very vain..this has certainly changed all that.  I think I have handled it pretty good...no more eye patch...not as much drooping...still mortified to eat in front of people...but keeping hopes up high...all we Can do...right??  Bless us all Right??

ive been wondering the same thing for 5 years now. and if you think the paralysis is bad try having people constantly coming up to you asking whats wrong with your face. or being labeled as "the droopy faced girl." doctors say it can heal in a couple weeks to a couple months to a couple years. its basically a waiting game.

im 16 & i was diagnosed with bells palsy about two months ago , my case wasnt really severe , you cant really notice i have bells palsy unless i SPEAK , i can drink & eat without spilling anything , i can close my mouth , and kind of close my left eye , i have no movements in my left eyebrow and when i speak my mouth dropps a little bit , i still cant smile ... having bells palsy has really lowered my self-esteem but i always tell myself i will get better and recover , i also try to do things to get my mind of things and not stress about it you gotta keep your hopes up ... ive been taking vitamin B 12 & omega 3 fish oils witch are proven to have helped .
