Well its good your not seeing them yet, it turns into a monster once you do. It does not mean they are'nt there. They are incredibly fast, and hard to see anyway. The adults get up to about the size of a sesame seed, and are different colors, but usually greyish black. There is a few things you can do to spot them. One is to rub some olive on a suspected part of the body, this will make them more visible as they will detach themselves and be somewhat limp from suffacation. On hard surfaces you can use a flashlight, with a somewhat strong beam of light shining paralell with the surface, it will cast a shadow on whatever is there making it easier to see. Oh, and buy a microscope. You can pick one up for about 10 bucks at Radio Shack. This will help identify any critters that you do get ahold of. So best of luck, chin up. Any more you need, post it, I might have some answers for ya.

I think they may also be bedbugs and not body lice.

Body lice burrows under the skin and lays its eggs they lay a load under the cuticles too. I found that chocolate makes the coome out  suffucate and die . Where there are large sres there will be the granddaddy and family so do it several times  on these areas. I just broke a bit of and placed it on top of sore and let it melt .By the time the chocolate is firm again they are dead and i then just used some old buissness cards and gently scrapped them onto it is pretty much one fell swoop. They take 55 days to die on clothes ect.

I read babies dont get them on their face. I also read they scar. Dont dig them out of your flesh/skin or they will scar you for sure.

Good luck to all of us to getting this "lousey sittuation into the past.

You might have a different type of parasite infestation,  that may not be a body lice at all, but another body parasite that need a different kind of eradication.

When you began to have symptoms of having a "parasite," 1) how did you determine for sure the bug,
whether body lice, scabies, or anything else. Did you make the assessment yourself, did you
need to research it, did you need to get an MD's assessment and diagnosis? If you did go to
an MD, did you find that they seemed to either know considerably less than you, or, denied
outright what you knew to be fact, presumably by your personal physical experience? I have
head lice, what I presumed all along was body lice according to the symptoms, etc. described
in forums, etc., and pubic lice. I've been going thru hell on earth since Dec 2012. Can't get
adequate care, concern, effort, diagnoses, treatment(s) from mainly dermatologists, a primary
care physician, an infectious disease MD, and a parasitologist. Seems everyone of these just
aren't interested, don't have up to date information to confront this, or perhaps they don't want to
be responsible if you have an adverse reaction to something they prescribe. What is your take
on this? When you said they lay under the cuticles, I said to myself - that happened to me - I felt
something popping out of the center of my cuticle on my middle finger, as if something alive
had hatched. So, thank you very much for mentioning that, as well as "body lice burrow under
the skin." I see that it has on my body... however, doctors don't want to either "acknowledge" or
"believe" it. And that includes a parasitologist! I've been suffering a long time and surprised
that I've been able to maintain my "rationality" under these circumstances. The experiences
I've had during the past 10 months are just "not fit for words." I've been hearing good things
about oral Ivermectin. A Ph.D. dermatologist recommended I obtain this, and in a dose that
people are given by travel clinics when they travel to tropical countries; in this way... she said it
would get "everything" I have. If that happened, I could get and live my life like a normal and fully
functioning person, which I'm desperate for. Do you know of anyone who has used this for any
of these purposes, and/or if there are any serious contraindications. My sister said to check the
Material Safety Data Sheet because Ivermectin is carcinogenic, and I don't want cancer. (She
just had a very small tumor removed from her breast.) Do you know if causes liver toxicity
and/or neurotoxicity (if yes, in what way?)

I realize this hasn't been a brief reply to your post; I really hope you can help me in one
meaningful way or another (asap!). I will be forever indebted to you.

Many thanks,
Caryn

We tried the ivermectin - didn't work. None of this works. Had them 3 years. Tried all the CDC bull too. They are coming across the border with all of the illegals is my guess – and all of the hotels have them That’s how we got ours. Sprayed the home -moved out of the house for 90 days and they never left. So we moved. They came with us. We moved again, they came. The only way to live with them is to vacumm and spray twice a day everyday, mallathion or pyrethrin products work best. You can call an exterminator, but he can’t get rid of them either. Soak your clothes in your chemicals over night and then dry them 2 or 3 times over in the dryer and iron everything slowly with steam. And then throw all your clothes away and buy new every time you feel an itch. Same with bedding, if it crawls – toss it. We don’t even buy mattresses any more. Throw away all carpeting, bedding and curtains. The lice will die when sprayed, but 1 always get’s through, and then it starts all over again. And we also take a dog dip every night before bed. You must sleep naked on a hard wooden floor. Once you get them you have them for life. Apparently the only thing that kills them is DDT and it has been outlawed in the USA by the EPA. They build a resistance to your chemicals so you have to alternate back and forth. yes I know we are going to get cancer and die from the chemicals and we can’t wait for that day to come. If anyone has ever gotten rid of these things – please tell us how. -

I have read many blogs about these bugs and have tried the most to get rid of them to the point of an anxiety attack. i read from a blogger how he got rid of them, and it works! !! 1st get Epsom salts and put some inside a empty water bottle or a sprayer...pour less than half of the salts in, then fill the bottle with warm water, shake until the salts dissolve DO NOT DRINK IT!! Rub on your body and hair let it dry on your body this will dry them. 2nd. Rub baby oil all over your body and hair kind of like when you exfoliate your skin. Wait about 20minutes. The oil traps them. 3rd. Use dish soap and a cloth in the shower to remove the oil from your hair and body. Use warm water . 4th .lastly use Apple cider vinegar and tub on your hair and body avoid your eyes. And that's it just air dry. Bag all your dirty clothes basically anything you have used. Keep in mind yoyr mother's saying.... if it's not yours don't touch it. You can get reinfested if you touch anything dirty. This was my nightly routine for 2 weeks straight and it worked. Don't forget to Fumigate the house! !! Listerine worked on my face. I hope this works for you as it did for me.

I have also been battling body lice for a few months. Once I think they are gone and I have no more bites, they are back again. However, they seem to be smaller and fewer in between bites. I got mattress covers for my bed & box spring. I wash/dry sheets every day and never wear anything for more than a couple hours, then it goes in dryer or washer if needed. I spray bedroom carpets with foam carpet cleaner and my bed with amonia, windshield washer, vinegar/water mixture... I mix it up. Of course constant bathing and wash loads every
day.Mop floors, or just spray vinegar in well used areas. Some clothes goes in the freezer if i need to wear it next day, then pop in dryer. I have most of my clothes in bags, using a limited wardrobe, mostly basics. I'm going to spend a couple nights in a motel to get away, but will come back to spray and treat. Then another hotel stay to see if that works. These things can't live more than 7 days to 14 days without a host. They are very resilient and I think I got rid of them twice, but they came back. I actually sealed off my bedroom for almost a month, sleeping on my day bed, but no! Some of the better pest control companies have a heat treatment they use on bed bugs, but these companies know very little about lice, since they are so rare. My dermatologist was zero help to me.

Be sure you look up your nose and feel for nits. I couldn't get rid of body until I found a nit in my nose. I removed it. 2 days passed and lice was gone. They hide under fingernails.nose.toenails. ears.

Bed bugs don't stay on the body (personal experience)
All Insect Invasions:
Wash your clothes in hot water, air dry them THEN 1/2 an hour in a drier on high is key for all kinds of insect invasion. Dry clothes in the drier Kills the stragglers and importantly Kills The Eggs. Wear clothes only once, they can be dried unwashed i.e. jeans. The drier will not destroy your dry clothes.
DE (diatomaceous earth) mix with water 50/50 (250 ml each) some vegetable oil (about 75 ml) body lotion 40 squirts) just so it all will bind properly). tea tree oil drops (30 to 40 drops) rose oil drops 12 drops) (3% in jojoba is ok) it helps mask the t tree oil.
Use your DE cream morning and night. Shower morning and night.
Twice a week have a bath with 1 cup of bleach, use a snorkel. I count to 60 10 times as ten minutes submerged seems to help immensely.
Mattress fully encased in plastic covers, I used two vinyl covers and taped up the seams and the unfastened sides. Cheap and works.
Think carefully of your car and where you sit. Bag up your clothes. Eliminate every possibility. You have a war on your hands.
Don't talk to everyone about it... People start quoting mental illness which is enough to really upset you. All it is is they don't understand and think modern pesticides fix everything which you've found out is not true, to my consternation as well, I am a nurse who caught them off a homeless patient... So you can imagine what this has done to my understanding of pharmacology!
The systems I have quoted above keep it at bay and ought to eventually work with consistency in approach.
Finally, once a week I use a 5% permethrin all over body treatment to help back up everything else I'm doing.
Best regards and good luck.

They say the old time logger's trick was to turn their long johns inside out every day so the lice had to fight their way back in. Eventually the lice would die of exhaustion.

I have suffered for years with dry, darkening skin and doctors I have seen put it down to my skin tone. I knew this was wrong and searched for years for an answer before finally seeing the nasty buggers.

I have been treating with permethrin and melathion and using home remedies such as cider vinegar, tea tree oil, hydrogen peroxide, vodka (not drinking yet!) and talcum powder.

It has been six weeks of hell so far and counting. I too have prayed for relief and nearly given up many times. I have even given it to my mum after she applied lotion on my back.

After many baths, showers, laundering, ironing, cleaning and using insecticides there is still no relief to this never ending hell. We just seem to have the little ones now and I can tell you that they survive hot washes and tumble drying. They also live in shoes etc. literally they can survive anywhere and crawl on to uninfected clothes so separate everything.

I don't have answers yet but lint roll everything before you put it on after washing.

My next stop is oral ivermectin and I will check all clothes and shoes.

It is reassuring to read that we are not the only ones struggling with this hell. Doctors advice of bathe, apply lotion and launder towels, bedding and clothing seems to be a little out-dated. These buggers live for a long time without a host - several weeks.

Keep trying everyone and if you succeed and do so faster than us please, please help us with your solution. 24 hour relief is all I have achieved so far.

Yes - the last two doctors I say diagnosed me with delusional parasitosis. Since this is linked to schizophrenia, bipolar and heavy drug use (none of which apply to me) it is very dangerous and irresponsible to have on your medical record!

I now have a complaint in with these organisations to correct (and yes I intend to sue!).
