There are always more options available so don't feel like you're shoehorned into doing one thing or another! In fact, I can think of other plans that you can do if this one isn't effective. Let me know as well how it goes, okay? :D
Ok, I've tried the vitamin B and Omega 3 thing for a week now. I can't say much about my weight yet (too soon to tell) but what I have noticed is an increase in energy. I feel like I have more energy to do things now, whereas before, I would have a list of things to do when I got home from work, but the moment I stepped into my house, I felt so tired that I just sat around watching tv or surfing the net or reading a book, basically sitting around and not getting my housework done. Now, I actually have the stamina to get things done. I feel revved up. Even after my workout sessions, I feel so energized that when I get home from the gym, I want to do more physical things. I really like this feeling. Now, I'm hoping for my weight to start going down. I know it won't happen overnight, but as long as it DOES happen, I'll be happy.
Sorry....I meant Vitamin E, not B
thank you, your comment was the light apon my day.
I'm 24 and 5'3". My psychiatrist prescribed me Lamictal 100 mg, Vyvanse 30 mg, and paxil 20. Before I took any meds I weighed almost 150. After i started taking lamictal and vyvanse i lost 15 lbs and got down to 134 at one point. Then i went up to 140 and pretty much stayed there. Ever since I started taking Paxil, i've gained about 3 pounds, so i'm up to 143. And it is mostly because I am hungry all the time, even though at the same time i'm nauseated. Paxil i've found, also makes me very drowsy. It sucks! I kind of want to get off of it, but I know it helps. it is a hard situation.
Have you tried taking the Paxil before bedtime instead of in the morning?
I found it helps me to feel less drowsy this way.

Hi there fellow Paxil users,
I have been taking Vitamin E and Omega 3 right after breakfast and it has really perked me up. I find that I have more energy throughout the day, and better yet, I have finally started seeing a drop in my weight. I still workout regularly, 3 times a week (high intensity workouts), and the weight is starting to come off. It isn't a drastic loss, I'm losing about 1 pound per week, but that's still progress!!! And keep in mind that I've been eating heartily during Thanksgiving events!!! My goal is to keep losing til I reach 130 (I'm at currently at 165). The best part is that I'm feeling good about myself again knowing that all my working out is starting to produce results. I'm sure that I'd drop weight faster if I quit eating desserts and stuff during family gatherings and such....but PLEEZ!!!! Let's be realistic!!!!

I am a 5'7" personal trainer. Before Paxil, I was a very trim 145lbs. Without changing anything, I'm now at 170. I stopped taking the meds cold turkey once... I made it five days before the side effects got so bad I had to start taking it again, but in those five days I noticed my stomach bloat went down a LOT.
So basically... do I want to be happy or trim? Cause apparently with Paxil you can't be both!

All I know about Paxil is that I was on it for a week...was supposed to take it til the bottle was gone, but it made me nauseous. The one GREAT thing about it is that I literally lost 8 pounds in one week...weird, because I wasn't trying to. I just got on the doctor's scale again after a week and was 8 pounds less. I remember having to try and choke down half an egg or some mashed potatoes, but looking at food or even thinking about it made me sick. Not the best weight loss plan, but... From what I remember, it stayed off, too.

Because that is all you know...... we are not talking about the initial side effects of taking the drug for ONE WEEK.... did you come onto the forum just to say you lost weight?
If you read further you would see that these are people who have been on the drug for months or years and are genuinely frustrated with our metabolisms being stuffed up - we dont need you making non sensical posts which dont help the thread AT ALL. Its like saying you had a stomach bug and lost 8 pounds while your mothers cousins aunt was on paxil.
Please...... refrain from irritating others with your lack of having anything else to do in your day!

I have been on Paxil, and at first it was like a miracle drug...no ocd, or anxiety...didnt have depression to start with, but after gaining almost 40 lbs, i now have depression, which causes anxiety, which in turn sets off my ocd. had i have known all the lousy side effects i would have NEVER started Paxil!! im right back where i started....with the exception of being 40 pounds heavier, and having constant headaches. i tried to get weaned off of it, and ended up in the ER....after talking to Dr's that i work with(i work in mental health admin) that they NEVER prescribe it unless it is a last resort....said it is the hardest drug to get off of.....shouldve talked to them first, but because of my embarassment of my "situation" i didnt. what a mistake!!! i suggest that anyone NOT take Paxil!!!! not only for the physical side effects, but it also causes your emotions to be "numb" no really happy emotions or even sad.....just "there'
I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT I STARTED TAKING PAXIL ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO, AND THOUGH I DEALT WITH A LITTLE NAUSEA AND SWEATING IN THE FIRST MONTH, I HAVE LOST 6 POUNDS AND I EAT CHOCOLATE EVERY DAY, NOT THE LOWFAT KIND EITHER, I USED TO WATCH WHAT I EAT AND EXERCISE BUT DUE TO AN INJURY I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO EXERCISE LATELY. SO WITH NO DIET CHANGE AND NO EXERCISE I'M LOSING WEIGHT ON PAXIL AND I WILL CONTINUE TAKING IT. [/enc]
It really bothers me that there are soooo many ppl on here talking about horrible SSRI'S are. I dealt with depression and contemplated suicide almost daily for years. I finally went to a doctor and they prescribed me Paxil, since i have been on it my life has taken a 180 degree turnaround for the good. The problem is with the ppl who get sad over and event in their life and go running to there doctor to get a prescription, so if your not smart enough to know the differnce between depression and a pitty party for yourself then thats your problem and you shouldn't swear off all SSRI's. There are thousands of ppl that have been helped by medication so shame on you for selfish behavior.
Good for you Jazzyginny glad ssri's are working for you.
My story is somewhat different. A little on my past history...when I was about 28 the dr put me on prednisone due to asthma....I took that for about 5 years and OMG did i gain weight. I am 5'2" and before prednisone weighed about 105lb. After about 6 months I went to 220lbs ...because of the weight gain and other life problems I was prescribed paxil to deal with my depression. What a mistake...i have been taking it for about 10 yrs now (tried others ...do not work) I have been off prednisone for about 8 years and thought i would lose some of the weight ummmm NOT! I work out, eat properly and have stayed at around the 190 mark. Okay so now what (i thought) Is it the paxil??? After reading this forum I have decided to quit the paxil and it is now my 8 day clean :-) Never ending circle ...take ssri's to lose the depression (suicidal thoughts) and become MORE depressed because I can't even look in the mirror? What do we do? Deal with depression on my own and (hopefully) lose weight or take PILLS to be happy and stay super FAT??? Big question of the day huh! Withdrawal symptoms.....crying like a lunatic, tired all the time, nightmares, BITCHY as all get out, and finally feeling my libido come back to life! :-) But feeling super hopeful
Thanks guys for all these GREAT comments (even those that do not agree)

I've been taking paxil ever since I had my child. I do not like the weight gain, however, I feel like a normal person again. I will work on my diet and excercise and honestly, would not stop it just because of the weight gain. I think some of these people are on the wrong type of medication if you are feeling the way you are feeling. I tried another type before paxil and it was an awful experience. It's different for everyone. If you don't feel right, stop it and try another type.
