Hey! My mum also has two and a half kidneys, however, thankfully its never caused her any major problems, she finds it useful to bring up in conversations if theirs nothing to talk about. I guess every cloud has a silver lining. Hope everything went okay for you at the doctors.

I was informed in 9th grade I had 3 kidneys when tested for unrelated issues. All are normal and functional. I'm 52 and have not experienced any problems due to the extra kidney.

I was told I had 3 kidneys when I was 8 years old (I'm 45) and other than using the bathroom a little more often and having a higher tolerance for alcohol I have had no health issues

Maybe you should look at the bigger picture there are thousands of people in this country that are in dire need of kidneys, or else they will die. Seeing as you only need one kidney maybe it's a good idea to donate one or even two.Being a life saver is better than being a proud owner of 3 kidneys.

Reduce salt intake—Too much salt would cause you to retain water and disrupt the salt/mineral/water balance in your kidneys, which may put you at greater risk of kidney stones.

Are you crazy? Do not remove any of your kidneys! I have three kidneys. Why should that be a problem? I'm 71 and my kidneys are all happy.

I too, was born with 3 kidney's. I one right one and a double kidney on my left side. So you are not alone. You are very lucky to have three. Just think of one thing at lest you have a spare. That's how I look at mine.

Hi all - just wanted to say I was born with 4 fully functional normal sized kidney which I only found out about at 11yo due to severe abdominal pain caused by toxic reflux on the right side - where a fault with the ureter was diagnosed - my specialist implanted a plastic ureter which solved the problem as told me Not to consider donation due to potential complications - I am now 50 with no problems What so ever - have lead a normal active life with no problems - to those whom have suffered ongoing problems my heart goes out to you - but please know that anything is possible - Garry

surgery to remove the kidney or partial and the ureter. I had the surgery when I was three in 1976. It was successful.
