I'm a 21 year old male and I've been experiencing very sharp stabbing pains all around my belly button? I had gastric bypass surgery a little over a month ago but this just started yesterday. I've looked all over the net and not sure what the problem is? Please let me know what you think.

I'm 14 years old and male. Earlier this morning (around 8:00) I woke up in extreme physical pain, and I was unable to relieve it. It felt like someone had a drill and was drilling from the inside of my naval. I found a short term fix by curling into a ball and abstaining from any contact-it hurt too much to try. As pained as I was, I had to pee. I found curling into a ball and rolling to the edge of my bed was the only way to painlessly (somewhat) get out of bed. As soon as I thought I had it made, I stood straight up to stretch. BAD idea. I immediately doubled up and fell back on the bed. Eventually, I made my way up to standing again, but I looked like those poor elderly women who are all hunched up from back pain. The only difference (other than age and sex) was they're hunched due to bad posture and back pains, I have no back pains, it's just my naval could not stretch past that hunched point. As I stood over the toilet to pee, I couldn't get it out on my own-I had to put my head on the opposing wall, and let gravity do its thing. As I cleaned my hands and dried them, I suddenly needed to flatulate (or fart). I was unable to as the gas couldn't be pushed out. This need to let gas go has occurred thrice times already. I've managed to let one fly once, with excruciating pain. In conclusion, this is the first time it has happened, but since I am in excellent shape (I workout consistently and eat healthy) I know it's not from body neglect. Sorry it's long, but I wanted to be as detailed as possible! Best Wishes, Concerned Teen

I am an 18 year old male and I have had the same exact problem for years now, I have looked so hard on the internet but have never been able to find an answer, only other people with the same question. I have went to the doctor and got a c.a.t scan and they called back with nothing unusual and no problems which blew my mind. Now I'm stuck with the same problem plus a 1000$ dr bill haha. I noticed it kind of helps to pee when its hurting and if I slowly stand up and walk aroundslowly stretch around it helps a little. But usually I just sleep it off and it goes away for a while. The only thing I can think of it being is something dealing with digestion, because very long car rides or setting for a long time in one positon (playing videogames/setting in class) just things like that because I have never had an issue when standing or laying flat. So my conclusion would be that it has something to do with organs or intestons behind the belly button caused by slouching over for long periods of time and the stretching of it in that position causes severe pain. I hope this post helps, take care!

I started to feel the same thing about 2 years ago. I realize it had to do with my abdominal exercises as well as posture / alignment. I would try to lift the abdominal wall as opposed to just flexing the muscles Which in turn began to pull on the belly button and I would get a sharp pain as if it was going to tear internally. Awkward I know. I started doing regular sit ups with my feet under the couch or someone holding my feet. That started to work the muscles normally. I also realize that while walking I would lift the abdominal wall so I started to use the "skinny" muscle. You know when you're walking down the beach and you need to suck it in. So I would say start paying attention to what you're doing with your body. Watch yourself in the mirror don't flex your muscles upward if anything think inward and hopefully that should start to help relieve the pain. God bless you all.

I'm a 14 year old Male. I get this every now and then and it usually goes away within a day or two. I think it has something to do with overstretching your abdominal muscles; because when they stretch it pulls on the back of the belly button.

I had this for a while as well, im a sixteen yo male, and i found out that its just a sprained nerve. It happens usually if u slouch, and it hurts when u pee because the belly button nerve is connected to ur urethra. It'll hurt at first. But stretch it out by bending back for about five minutes, and it'll go away!!

I also get this pain, I'm 24 and had it since I was 10 years old, I have seen 5 doctors and even had keyhole surgery as they thought it might be a hernia, it wasn't and now they still have no idea what is causing my pain. A couple of painkillers usually works.

I have had this same thing occur for around 8 years.  It hurts when stretching or urinating.

I also spent a ton of money with doctors and scans and nothing revealed the cause.

Eventually, I went to a urologist who said it was most likely an umbilical hernia.  At that moment in time, the pain wasn't there and he said not to worry about it too much.

The odd thing is that it comes and goes.  Sometimes, I will have it periodically for a week.  Other times, I won't have any pain for 6 months.

I have the same pain and it seems to come right after I workout and lift weights! I am 26 and have this pain since 8 or 10 yrs old! It is not such a strong pain, it feels like there is a hook behind my belly button pulling it back and it hurts more when I stretch backwards, but when I stretch, it hurts a lot but right after it doesn't hurt that much anymore and eventually fades away.
