I am a gymnast and one day my knee were swollen, and it was painful. I went to see an acupuncturist and today I dont know which of the knees was the one hurting. I lived with the this knee problem for a year before I realize that i had to do something. Anyway i have the pain under the shoulder blade, not sure what is causing it. It is more of an annoying pain than anything. When I do extreme stretch exercises i get rid of the pain for a while. I could visit an accupunturist and i am sure he could take care of the problem is just that it cost a lot of money 70 dollars a visit, and you need 3 visits a week. But it works.
I have been suffering from the same pain. I also have severe anxiety. I went to my doctor and they found nothing wrong, They said that the pain might be being cause by my anxiety. So maybe the pain is from axiety.
Oddly enough feeling pain in your upper back, particularly shoulder-blade areas can be a sign of gallbladder issues. For some reason the pain transfers.
I have been experiencing the exact same painful shoulder blade issues, and I also have a slowly failing gallbladder. It isn't bad enough to have anything done about yet, just enough to act up from time to time.
Its something worth getting checked out.

I'll add my two cents since I recently went through an excruciating, relentless pain in my upper left shoulder area.
I had the "iMuscle" app for my iPhone and started looking at the muscle chart. I came to the conclusion that the affected muscle was the Trapezius transverse part. At least that's the area the pain was coming from.
One of the exercises iMuscle recommends for strengthening that muscle is the one arm (at a time) bent over dumbell row. I do that as part of my exercise routine and came to the conclusion that I must have strained that muscle. As I recall, the problem started after my last weight training workout. It's kind of confusing as I've been doing that exercise for a while now and I really wouldn't have expected to have a problem there, but after two really tough nights of not getting much sleep because the pain kept waking me up, I seem a heck of a lot better today. I expect the pain to be gone by tomorrow.
There really wasn't much I could do for it - heat pads were, pretty much, worthless - also Flexall. Just have to tough it out.
I'm going to drop the weight on that exercise for a while.
I like the iMuscle app because it at least will help you get an idea of where the pain is coming from and might help the doctor if you have to go.
Hope that helps.
PS: Now if only I can get some relief from this frickin' poison ivy (or whatever the heck skin irritation this is)...
I was having the same problems that alot of you are having. The stiff
neck, pain under the shoulder blade. I went to a chiropractor, he would
make adjustments and for a hour or two I would be OK.Then i went to my
family doctor and he recommend me to a orthopedic. After xrays, buying a
$60 pillow (waste), A new mattress (sleep Dr, love it) and pain
killers and anti-inflammatory. I was still being woken up at 4 in the
morning in killer pain. I went back to the orthopedic but ended up
seeing a different Dr. He recommend me to see a physical therapist. I
had nothing to lose. Well after 6 sessions I no longer have pain. I do
get up every day and do my exercises that they showed me to do. Their
conclusion was that being right handed and not fully using my shoulder
and back brought on the pain. I hope this might help some of you. I know
how crazy this made me, I was in pain and sleep deprived. If you have
any questions please feel free to contact me.
I have had pain under my left shoulder blade which radiates into my left ribs for over three years---it intensifies and then lessens---also have had tests but nothing shows up except osteopenia---it really scares me sometimes---Did physical therapy help because chiropractic doesn't...
I'm interested in what type of exercises they have you do every morning. I am also right handed and have a tendency to sleep on my left side. I've had this pain there for 10 years. It comes and goes. One doctor told me it was due to small gall stones. I would not mind trying the exercise.
I have had my pain for years also...However, I had my gallbladder removed 6 weeks ago and the pain is still there. I have had all kinds of tests--CTscans, ultrasound, x-rays barium studies, endoscope and a myriad of blood tests---alll normal except endoscope showed inflammation---my worse symptom for gallbladder was terrible nausea---even had it for five weeks after surgery.....but---the pain under left shoulder and ribs is still there---
they started me off using a big rubber strap for tension and doing reverse butterflys. next with the rubber band i start with both hand toward my left hip and with my right arm straight i swing it towards the cieling. three sets of ten. same for the left arm. now the next get tricky while lying chest on a excerise ball with legs straight out. have light weights in each arm. now swing your arms like superman and back. do thirty. next while still on the ball pull up on the weight like starting a lawn mower. i do this every day plus i do rows, and lat pull downs.
It's Gallbladder issues or Pancreas issues. I've had it for over 10 years and just figured this out.
they have checked my pancreas with a CT scan, and other tests as well as bloodwork twice and say it isn't my pancreas-----and I had my gallbladder removed so I don't know what to think----some people say people with gastritis get this pain-----do you have reflux or gastritis?
I see you posted this over a year ago. What has happened since then?
You guys should all try yoga. I had all this plan and then did yoga.
My pain is significantly better. Also good for the mind
Trust me.
Well---I have had every test for pancreas I could have as well as blood tests and nothing shows---also had gallbladder removed 3 months ago---What did you find out---how are you now---what did you do?
I have the same pain in my left shoulder blade, I was told I have spinal stenosis. Lately the pain is 100 percent worse. I am going to get an MRI to see why its so bad
