It could be jock itch. If the area is not kept cool and moist free, it will develop this "itching" and eventually get "sore" from all the itching. It could also be an affection that is on your blood and would definately need treatment. Try the over counter aids that address your symptoms and see how well they work. If they dont, then, try and get some help...there must be a friend you have that can advise you.

I have the same problem but I'm 14 and had never had sexual contact. The rash had started forming inbetween my fingers now and I'm getting very worried. I don't think it has anything to do with sex

Did that really work?

Anyone notice a smell with this? Maybe just from the puss and friction, but it smells similar to that scent you smell and are like, "you can tell I just had sex." Not bad by any means.

Yep, mine smells pretty awful. I've had this off and on for ten years now and it is getting pretty frustrating. I realize now this is not an irritation, but a fungus. To my limited understanding, it can be a normal fungus (jock itch type) or yeast infection. I am trying Lotrimin Ultra and medicated powder. Will try that for a week and see how it does. So back to the smell, is this an indication of a yeast infection? I am also getting small skin tags in the crease between my scrotum and groin. Is this normal?

Sorry, just be careful, Metronidazole is an anaerobic antibiotic. Normally used for bacteria that lives without oxygen. Not one an oral antibiotic for scrotum itch or infection unless it is in a gel form. DO NOT CONSUME ALCOHOL when taking this medication as it will make you very ill. Severe headaches and vomiting. One of the best creams for this condition is E-45 with hydrocortisone 1%.

Having read all the replies to this point, and myself sufferingfromthis for two years, aged fifty seven, started on the bell end and a skin specialist told me to never use shampoo suds to wash over the rest of your body when showering, but lately has spread to under scrofula prostrate area intense itching at night. Anyway, I reckon the poster that said beware of showering suds running off the scrotum area, and also the poster above who mentioned rinsing the washing twice. Fact is, all my problems began when we switched to a cheap wash powder. Also, if you sweat at work, the sweat will rinse the wash powder residue from your under briefs onto your scrotum between thighs area. In short, dermatitis or dry skin caused by detergents plain and simple. The scabies theory is a good one, but I have had scabies half a dozen times in my life, never on or near the scrotum, although it is true that scabies itches at night. Benzyl benzoate although carcinogenic is my favoured treatment, but never ever near your private parts front or rear and never above the neckline. The insecticidal chemical treatments are better, but I actually prefer the European option, but it is expensive: a tube of Eurax rubbed over the whole body, repeat for seven days. It s a scabicide. However, I think this ain't the scabola, its dry irritated skin from detergents. Cold showers, less soap much less shampoo, and double rinse the family wash, oh and no more cheap wash powders. Baby cream with zinc oxide in it good, too.The strong anti fungal creams did nothing.
