I'm not exactly sure what to say about any of this, but the only thing that comes to mind -- would be that maybe you just need to have sexual relations with your partner. . .Are any of you sexually active -- yet this is still happening to you? If not, then I'd just have to say that you should be sexually active. I hope I could help! I highly doubt that I did, but that still might be a possibility.

For the young lady who says she feels the sensation of needing to pee every few minutes with this tingling sensation this could be a simple case of a urine infection called Cystitis. Its treatable but a very quick cure is to drink Cranberry juice or a couple of pints of water. Itll make you need the loo more but the sensation to pee should go away.

For the others, the STD Herpes can cause tingling in the vaginal area and legs/bottom etc. Might be worth getting a checkup with your doctors just in case.

I can't tell you ladies what a relief it is to know I'm not the only one dealing with this. It's the tingling and then it's accompanied by the need to pee which, as you all know is sooooo incredibly bothersome and stressful.

I've had this off and on for more than 2 months and have tried everything (cranberry juice, oil of oregano, etccc) and no relief.

I was also recently diagnosed with herpes and think this must be related but was on Valtrex for a week or so and it didn't help much. I think I'm going to try that again for a longer period of time and see if that helps. Others should get tested and see if what you're feeling is also herpes related. Has abyone got a definitive answer for your doctor about what is causing this. if so, please please please share.

Can't believe there is so little information out there about this. Good luck everyone and please be in touch with information/updates if you can.

what a relief, this has been freaking me out all day, it just started last night and has been on an off all day to day. For me they feel like tiny tingling muscle spasms and the only other thing (im not sexually active) I could think of that might have caused it was the doctor visit I had yesterday, he took X-rays for a back problem I have and tested some reflexes in my legs that I thought may have struck a nerve wrong. This whole problem is the weirdest thing i've dealt with and im a very private person, so naturally im afraid to ask anyone close to me.

I relate most to the woman who mentioned that it felt like hair growing down there. I don't remember ever feeling this before I cut my hair down there. I did not wax it or shave it, just cut it because it was long. It feels like the hair is growing - which is weird, because I don't feel my head hair growing, but it also kinda feels like fluid is leaking down there. I can't identify with the vibration that someone mentioned, and I am pregnant, but I think I felt it before I was pregnant and maybe it is now enhanced because I am so cognizant of all things vaginal now that I am expecting. Anyone get any more of idea what it is? Anyone else cut their hair down there?

The sensations started in my breasts and pelvic areas at first, now my whole chest area is involved. It started approx 3 months ago and seems to occur only when I lie down or upon waking. The feeling is almost the same as what I feel when Im in an elevator {when it stops and your pulled down for a second} or if I am up very high and then l look down, or sometimes If i get on an escalator, I will get this sensation, but it makes no sense that I get these sensations in my breasts when Im lying down or waking up.

Hi girleys!,

GREAT!! i have found something yay! i have had the same feeling for days now and i think it may be a urine infection. I had one about 3 weeks ago (well a kidney infection) and i had this feeling even since. If i take painkillers the feeling goes so that is what i am going to do. If your really worried go to the doctor and get some given to you and drink plenty of water that seems to help me.

It's 6/2009 now and I just found this thread. I've been getting the same discomfort too. Tingling in the vaginal area, or somewhere in there, I can't pinpoint, which I thought was caused by my anxiety. At first I thought I had yeast infection, UTI but all came back negative, even my lab tests. I have notice that it is occasionally accompanied by numbness to my perineal area and down my legs. It was so bad earlier this year, I had anxiety attacks because of it..I just couldn't stand the sensation. I thought maybe this is brought on by my anxiety. The more I think about it, there is something there..a nagging pain/discomfort. I'm glad to know i'm not alone, but I hope that a physician reading this can put some light to it.

As for me, meditation and distraction helps it go away at times, but it is worse when I am under stress, especially a week before exams. I mean i'm just tired, not mentally anxious or anything and this sensation just comes. I also hope that I find some answer to this. No one seem to know what this is. I'm about to go see a GYN.

Just this past weekend I started to have a vaginal tingling, itching sensation. It is VERY similar to what a lot you all have mentioned; tingling, comes and goes, no pain, etc. It was driving me nuts, to the point that it was affecting my sleep when I woke up at 3am to it and wasn't able to sleep for an hour. Finally I just got up and drove over to the Pharmacy hoping to find an over the counter solution. I was about to buy a yeast infection medication when I saw my answer. An anti-itch creme. I thought this is too simple. But as I read what it treated it hit me: Antibiotics. Just last week I started taking an antibiotic for a Staph infection I somehow managed to get in my left armpit. The medication is meant to treat fungus infections since thats what a Staph infection is. My guess is that the medication started to affect the PH balance in my vagina. I bought the anti-itch creme and applied it as soon as I got home. So far its working. I don't know if this will help anyone else, but your conditions could just be a simple PH balance problem. In any case here is a link to the drug information of the brand I bought. I hope it helps!

I've had this sort of thing happen a few times. My feelings might be a little different from everyone's here, but I DID actually find some information that describes the feelings I have. I am married and have a child and am currently on NO medications at all. I just started my period for the month yesterday, and was woken up this morning with the intense sensation of sexual arousal that wasn't caused by anything. No "good dreams" and the hubby was already gone to work. :-( Nothing got me aroused, it just happened. If I'm distracted long enough, the sensations ease up. I've never had a climax let alone an orgasm...so what I'm feeling "might" be almost like that...I guess...so with all that said, here's the information I've found and hope it might relate to some here. These feelings aren't of pain though, keep in mind.

Here's a little clipit from the article:

..."Although the authors have not been able to find any other reference to this condition in the medical or psychiatric literature, Riley de¨scribed a case of premenstrual hypersexuality that seems similar to PSAS. The case involved a 22-year-old single woman who had lost her job as a result of an intense need to masturbate frequently during the 3 to 4 days prior to menses. She felt the need to masturbate in the lavatory at work up to 12 times daily in addition to sessions at home and even in the car going to work. During these premenstrual days, she reported a continuous state of sexual arousal, with intense tingling in the clitoris and a feeling of vaginal warmth. There was a major increase in genital secretion at this time, which soaked her underclothes and sometimes resulted in a wet patch on her skirt. The genital sensations rose rapidly in intensity, causing her to seek relief through orgasm by self-stimulation; if she did not attain orgasm, the sensations became unbearable. These sensations were not accompanied by sexual fantasies..."

Hope this helps!!! Mine use to go away after a few hours...but it's been all day for me. I hope this just leaves me alone because I can't sit still!

I see that it didn't provide the link I typed in either.... so basically do a search for some thing along the lines of persistent vaginal arousal, or PSA syndrome for women. Again, I hope this helps shed some light on our issues. Reading that article at least let me know that I wasn't weird! Now, if only anything could work to get rid of them when they do happen, because I seriously can't function on one of those days.

ok so im 19 years old. this isnt the first time this sensation has happened to me but since i have annual tests i knew it wasnt from STD...ive been doing alot of research on this strange sensation and yes alot of women have it. i have noticed in alot of other's comments from other sites that alot of us have some things in common. like stress, or anxiety. also alot of the women experiencing this have thyroid or diabetic problems. im not sure if i have either myself but i do know diabeties runs in my family.

there has to be an explaination for this.

there are over 200 women on this other site dealing with the same sensation. but none are getting the same answers. some gave the solution of PGAD (Persistand Genital Arousal Disorder) which is basically a problem with your nerves down there making you have mini orgasms. [please excuse my indiscreetness] one woman went to the dr and found out she had a UTI blamed it on that. until she got rid of the infection and the sensation was still there. another was diagnosed with herpes.

from my research i've seen that this is a common sensation but for a wide variety of problems. some say sex helps others say it doesnt. some say a bath or swimming works. other say it doesnt. and some have even had the sensation escalate from tingling to pain. its a problem that needs to be addressed and i believe there are many more that have the same problem but everyone is just too afraid to stand up and ask questions thinking their alone or are too afraid of what the answer might mean. so far i, myself have not found one concrete constant answer to what this problem is but i will post again if i find out anything more. hope i do. for my sake and yours.
