my son had one done too, he was probably oh i dont know 12 or 13. he is 19 now still dealing with the pain, doctor say its not from the tap i say it is. i feel so bad for him cant make the doctor do anything they just keep cover each other asses. i know for a fact how he feels. i had the same problem but i didnt have a tap done, i had a epidural to have a baby my back hurt after that , could not stand for a long time, could not sit for long very painful, could not hold a job for the pain. had the pain for three years.got pregnant again had another epidural done.have been pain free. so i wish i could get a doctor to try this just give him a epidural and see if it would help. that is what i have come up with. he has no ins and lives in different state. would anyone with same problem be willing to try it. I think it would work.

Since you mentioned Tethering of cord and also the shock sensation during the procedure which is a red flag, There is a remote possibility that you might be suffering from Arachnoiditis,I would request your MRI's to be screnned by a neurologist, its a very painful condition, there is a dr by name Dr.Aldrete who is a world renowned expert in arachnoiditis in Alabama, i would ask you to send your MRI's and get the diagnosis of Arachnoiditis for free, pls note that most of the docs dont acknowledge about arachnoiditis existence and cover their ass as it is caused by the very same medical profession which is their to help..
Hi Wynee93,
What was the reason for your disability,is it the LP which has been the cause, if so do you have the diagnosis what led to the disability? Post lumbar puncture headaches are deemed to come from a leakage of spinal fluid. Theoretically, I would think that lying on your stomach with your head hanging off should stop any leaks and allow your brain to have adequate fluid, which your body produces daily. The medical treatment is a “blood patch”, using your own blood to heal the puncture site, and possibly pain medication. Infection is also a possibility. B12 is always important when anything involved with nerves is concerned. If you have it, take extra sublingual B12. Pain is a reflection of inflammation, so any anti-inflammatory supplements should help counter it. DHA, found in fish oil is especially helpful for the brain; vitamin C, curcumin, etc. are also very good. Gave this advice to my son who had a terrible headache the second day. He was greatly improved within an hour. Most of all I credit God for answering our prayers. LW

Most of the comments I read in this topic are all negative, my son is only 2 yrs and 10 month old he undergo a spinal tap 4 days ago and now he is suffering from severe head ache and lower back and hip pain, what can I do to take all this pain away? can anyone please help me?
Hi there, My last spinal tap was in January, it was my forth. Everyone I have had I have never laid down for longer that 30 min after it. After my last one I was straight up on my feet, tidied myself up, put my shoes on and was on my way out the doors. ...My first was bad i will say that as i did not know what to expect, but then i was only told to lay down for 30 min and drink plenty. I found drinking things with caffeine in helps a great deal e.g coke cola, coffee. As for the headaches i was told if they got to bad to lay on my bed put my feet up a wall and hang my head over the edge of the bed. Well it help so much i fell asleep... I just thought i would let you all know what helped for me.
