Perhaps you would like to share your reasons for why you think your hair grew back? Or at least state you don't know since yours is the first instance I read where the hair actually grew back.

I am missing symmetrical patches of hair on both legs, it just fell out years ago. Smooth as a baby's bottom, not painful, no red bumps. Low testerone??? IDK but I also think it's nothing to worry about except maybe cosmetically, but definitely something to mention to your doctor. I've also taken Dilantin now for 20 years which can do funky things with hair. No worries, it just looks funny

hey all, im 23 and i used to have this aswell. i used to have 2 patches on both legs that were exactly symmetrical, one on the inside of my shin and one on the outside aswell, also about 2x3 inches. I  had those for about 2 years, maybe more (cant remember). It looked as if someone was shaving my legs in my sleep (actually got paranoid lol). it would slightly grow back by about 2 mills then just vanish again. but recently its grown back fully dont really know why. Only thing i could say (about mine) is that it could have been stress related from my relationship with my girlfriend, but we worked through that, things got better about a month or so ago (relationship), around the same time my hair started growing in properly (again).

so yeh, my conclusion is stress

59 male and have the same problem on top of both thighs. I belief it is autoimmune related as others have said. My Dad basically had no hair on his legs when he died at 84. He also battled rheumatoid arthritis for most of his life. I don't have that but arthritis runs in the family which is autoimmune related. I did have a liver flair up with my liver 15 years ago and the doc chalked it up to an autoimmune disease after doing a biopsy. Cleared up after going on steroids for a few months.

I'm going to the doc for my annual physical in a couple of weeks so I will bring it to his attention. There could be many causes of th hair loss so no need to brush it aside based on my theory, but I'm willing to bet I'm right in my case. I will report back.

Went to doc today and he just said it was normal for older males like myself. lol. So no help for the younger ones with the same problem but looks like it is just a normal to lose leg hair as you age.

What medicine did he prescribe to you?

Who are we kidding guys? Aliens have takin' hair and skin samples from us. I find it weird they are symmetrical in nature. Lets hope they don't come for more.

I started to notice this as well in my early thirties. Doctors said it was do to low circulation and blood pressure. After some time passed i ended up losing all the hair on the sides of my shins. It looked really strange and embarassing , to the point where i didnt want to wear shorts.

At 40 I had my first major cardiac arrest. The heart surgeon told me that losing your hair on your calfs is the first signs of serious heart problems.

It is a serious matter and should not be discarded as normal. Do yourself a favor and get checked out ASAP if all of a sudden you notice the hair on your outer legs thinning and dissapearing. It may be a sign that you need to change your lifestyle and habits ASAP!

A lot of ciggies, coffee and stress caused by excessive gaming, does it ring a bell? Also, most of the time I feel the blood pressure in the legs like a low "frequency" rumbling. Don't know if its the veins or arteries, maybe both. I have also rather large veins and arteries which most of the time are low in pressure but they become "bloated" with I do a little exercise. I also have a low tolerance to the cold, I am a little cold when other people are fine. When I lay down on my bed I start to hear a low frequency hum which is quite annoying, I think it has something to do with the blood pressure equalizing. But the symmetrical rectangle bold spots are still pretty weird.

I still don't know what is going on but I went to a Dr and he was stumped. I had my blood tested, nothing was wrong. I had an ultrasound to see if I had poor circulation and once again everything was OK. It literally looks like my shins have now hawks. Where the hair is missing I had red dots that resembled acne. I do wear pants a lot but can't determine the problem :/ I do eat a lot of fish such as tilapia and shrimp and it seems the more I base my diet on seafood the regeneration of my hair growth occurs. I have been trying to figure this out and I can't find an answer :/ somebody helpme

you have to get that hair out off your body because it is growing to you muscles and will make you very sick in the end do it by pulling your skin

I have neuropothy in both my feet, after many trips to different neurologists, they do believe that it is neuropothy with a case of pre-diabetes, which one of the signs is the hairless shins which I thought for many years was caused fronm jeans and socks. Have them check your gluecose levels after fasting, this will help determine if you are a candidate for pre-diabetes. I am still being tested, but they are pretty sure. Thank you for allowing me to share...

I am 46, I noticed my leg hair was falling out in my late 30s. It started on the calfs, then outer shins. Gradually, all the hair just below my knees on both legs is gone I only have scattered hairs around my ankles and inner shins.. I never wear shorts or go swimming. It looks rediculous. I still have hairy legs from the knees up.

I went to a Doctor, he said it was normal. My physical and blood tests were normal. I tried wearing shorts more when it first started falling out, but did not help. It's not from wearing pants or socks. It never grows back, only gets worse.
