I'm a 15 year old female and I've been having these "spasms" in my lower left abdomen for about a month and a half. I'm fit and healthy, and I've been researching and it is definatly NOT IBS. I'm getting very irritated and will be going to the doctor soon. If i learn anything, I'll post it.
I have been having what can only be described as a "flutter" in my upper abdomen, really it feels like the diapraghm. The sensation sometimes makes me feel like I need to cough. I never get it standing up, only sitting down and laying in bed. It's worse at night. Anyone have anything similar?
I am a 40 year old male in good health and just started feeling flutters about 6 days ago. It is in the center just below my rib cage. No pain, it just feels funny. Sometimes it feels like my stomach goes up then down. Has anyone come up with any reasons? Maybe stress?
I am a 45 year old male, and I have been getting them intermittently for years, in the abdominal wall, though mine are midline rather than right or left.
I honestly dont think these spasms are anything to worry about - I have had them for so long. I am in the medical field, and I cant think of anything they could be related to. I certianly dont have IBS as someone suggested above.
What I do find useful is that if they bother me, (i.e become distracting) a couple of doses of soluble calcuim (usually found as a fizzy powder or tablet, somtimes as a combination with Vitamin C) puts an end to them. Tablet Calcium, together with a multivite might help as well.

I'm a 23 year old female. I also have experienced this same "fluttering" sensation in lower abdomen. For me it is due to I.B.S.
I have the same feeling. For the past 2 weeks or so, I get this weird fluttering feeling in the middle of my lower abdomen. I thought it was gas and it would pass but it comes and goes. Every few minutes or so. Worse when I'm sitting down at work or driving. Very annoying.
Count me in, too. I'm a 43 yr old female and first started getting this buzzing sensation about two months ago. For me, it's right in the middle of my lower abdomen, maybe two inches below my belly button. I was TTC (trying to conceive) when I first noticed it and thought for sure I was pregnant and that the buzzing was "fluttering" in my uterus. I soon learned that I was not pregnant (although I am now) but am still getting the sensation. It feels like a spasm, not unlike an eyelid spasm, but longer and more frequent. And then sort of buzzing/electrical feeling too.
I read on another board that someone went to their chiropractor who diagnosed it as a nerve that was being pressured when they sat. The chiropractor was able to fix it with some adjustments. This sort of makes sense to me because I only get the spasm when I'm sitting, never when I'm standing (although I'm probaby sitting 90% of my life!).
I have no other symptoms of IBS so I don't tend to think it's that.

I have the same weird flutter, it's not IBS, I have IBS have for years and this has nothing to do with it, I can just tell it's not that kind of flutter. It's too frequent and doesn't go in sync with my bowels.
It's more likely the same kind of twitch you get in your eyelid if you are stressed or have a mineral deficiency, my husband gets the same flutter in his arm sometimes and my mother in her toes. I guess we all just get scared when it's in the abdomen.
Try eating a banana, apricots or something with potassium/magnesium etc. Or start taking a multivitamin. I know my flutter started up when I lost my bottle of vitamins between work and home, haven't gotten a new bottle yet.

I have a feeling it is IBS. I have had many other symptoms that go along with IBS, am not pregnant, and have been having this insane twitching that feels like there's something in my lower abdomen kicking. It is inconvenient, uncomfortable, and annoying, but not life threatening. 8-|
It's too bad there are no answers to this, because I experience it, too. It only happens rarely, and here's the pattern I've put together. It occurs with me after a bout of severe sinus pain and feeling awful, possibly from an infection of some sort. As the infection wears off and I start to feel better, I get the odd poking pain and fluttering feeling just under my lower leftmost rib on and off for a day or two, as if the detritus of the infection is making an exit from my system through some pathway there.
That's all I have. I'm really curious what it is.

I, too have had this vibrating/buzzing sensation in different areas of my body for a few years now. Coming from the pelvic area right now and have had a lot of different tingling from the pelvic area to the front of my face. It is very disconcerting. At first, I thought I was having heart problems! Nothing was out of order when I went for a physical last summer. Nothing medical really seems to "fit" (or explain) the vibrating/buzzing symptoms. I have done research on "kundalini awakening" after a friend told me of her similar experience. I have read that as early as 1932, Carl Jung gave a seminar on "Kundalini". I have since come across a lot of people who are experiencing "vibrations". It seems far more common that we realize and I believe that this is what is happening to me. I hope that this helps create awareness that these "symptoms" are happening to many of us.
Wishing you all the best of health!

I am a chiropractor and I suspect that what you are experiencing is muscle fasciculations. Most likely these are your superficial abdominal muscles. Most likely these "fluttering" symptoms are muscle fatigue and atrophy, or mineral imbalance. Do some crunches and make sure you are getting enough calcium, magnesium and potassium in your diet.
I am a 22 year old male, who works out 5 days a week regularly. I am in peak shape and fitness, with no health related problems whatsoever. I personally have also been experiencing these lower abdominal quivers. more so precisely lower left oblique/abdominal area.
A bit worried here...

I have just started these lower abdomen vibrations with no pain, they are about 6" below my belly button just above my pubic region. I can feel them every few minutes sometimes more then once a minute, and they do feel like a mobile vibrating in your pocket (caught me out a few times)! I have been diagnosed with IBS years ago (over 20) and had the colonoscopy, but I managed the IBS and pain with watching what I eat.
I have still got Anti Spazmodics that my doctor gave me for my IBS and I think I will try them out to see if they calm it down.
I will repost the results in several days time, watch this space.

I am a 66 year old male and have been experiencing the same symptoms - fluttering the lower abdomen with absolutely no other symptoms. It's really strange and has been going on for a couple of months. My doc was intrigued but had no idea what it might be. (He didn't suggest IBS). It does get quite annoying at times, but seeing on this site how many other people get the same feeling, and that it appears to be benign, I'm relieved.
