I have had the exact same problem, quit smoking 12 weeks ago and ever since i have had these fludders in my chest, stress test good, 24hr holter montor and they say all is good i just have an extra beat every so often but when i fell my pulse when it happens it feels like my heart stops or pauses then resumes beating, its scary and hard not to worry about :(
Hello everyone
I quit for my third or fourth time now. I have not smoked for 1 month, but I am on nicotine gums. I take maybe 3-4 gums a day. I have experienced mucus, I have to clear my throat many times when I talk since it makes my voice sound weird. Past 2 days I have been having a feeling of something being stuck, or my throat has been dry while still having mucus on left side. This is not first time I had this, when I quit few months ago I had the same. It's like mucus is stuck on the left side of my throat. Anyone experiencing bad taste in mouth? I googled it too and apparently lots of quitters have them. I tend to get anxious since in past I had anxiety attacks, last time when I quit I went to the doctor and he checked my throat could not find anything. The thing is each time I type something about throat most topics coming out are cancer related and it totally freaks me out. Anyone is having similar symptoms?
I quit smoking 8 months ago and stil to this day i have on and off burning of the throat voice probs neck feels swollen gland on left side seems a bit swollem it comes and goes some times even during the course of a day it will be ok then worse then better then almost unbearable.
Had a scope done to swallowing side and it showed an ulcer that is healing from the dexilant i been on but this throat buring, lump feeling amd dry throat thing is horrible.
next step i guess is to have my air way scoped see whats going in there but this all started when i coughed really hard got my throat sore went to er care got put on antibioitcs for possible infection and steriods they made me fee great no pain after that till they wore off then it all came back full force. To be coninued
To be continued... Now they want to do a barium swallow test i keep telling them it is in the air pipe they still think gerd but they did the scope before and saw nothing in throat?!
barium swallow test tomorrow let you know what they find or don't find...Has anyon eon here had effects form stopping smoking for as long as me? Been 8 months now and is really nerve racking it id drivine me insane.
barium swallow test done waiting on results
test was negative for any thing but the original gerd theory. Next? 8 months and still throat burn wind pipe.
My primary care DR just told me he has no clue, no blood test to give me just keep taking dexilant with tums and mylanta for a few weeks if not then try a stress test. WTH?! My voice box is horse and burning not my heart don't get winded ready to slap him senseless.
Off to ENT to check vocal cords. After all this worry and tests and pain anyone out there that is thinking of smoking DON'T simple as that.
Vocal cords ok no C turns out simple acid reflux is causing all this brought on by smoking for all those years and fried foods tea and such.
hey guys I've been smoking super duper heavily and dipping tobacco super duper heavily since i was 16 and i'm almost 22 now. My darn problem that keeps making me anxious and bothering me is the left lymph node in my neck and the left shoulder and neck pain. My throat is bothering the heck out of me and has been for a year or so now, I SHOULD'VE quit a year ago! Anyways dad is a great doctor but he's also kind of blunt and stubborn... I complain to him occasionally about this problem and he says just quit tobacco and your lymph nodes and throat will get better. Well I've quit for about 3-4 weeks now. I sincerely hope he is right because I can't take thinking I have cancer anymore, I CANNOT TAKE IT, I LOOOOVE to sing but it just feels like something's growing in my neck and causing sores on the left side of the back of my throat, BUT I REALLY HOPE it's just my imagination!!! It almost feels like some stuck a burning iron into and seared the back-leftside of my throat. And I absolutely hate lymph nodes. They p*ss me off. I can't stop touching my lymph nodes on my neck and every so often I feel this painful, stretching out feeling of my muscles almost like they're wringing out tar from them (the muscles in my neck). Anyways.... Let's just say I have cancer in the left side of my neck/jaw/throat/thyroid area and it was a very slow-growing malignant tumor caused by dipping tobacco. What symptoms should I expect to have!!!!!!?????? Someone help me or reply or something please thanks!!!
I would not think in that short of a time span you have C but many thing can cause swollen nodes, You should see and ENT to have a look down your throat.
Very glad to have come across this thread. I'm 36 and smoked on and off for 20 years. Never really heavy and sometimes I'd quit for a couple of years, then start again. Thing is I never had any health issues on quitting before, which I've always done cold turkey (last time I was 34 and I'd been smoking 3-4 a day for a year) - I do a lot of running and cycling which keeps me in pretty good shape. This time however (again, after about a year on 3-4 a day) quitting has been a different story. I'm 5 weeks without a smoke now, and have had upper back pains, particularly on the right side, chest pains all over, pains in my kidney area, headaches, congestion in my nose and sinuses, and right now a swollen lymph node on the right side. I woke up in the middle of the night a while back and my whole right lung felt like it was full of acid. I've had a chest x-ray and blood tests done - nothing. Funny thing is it comes and goes - I'll be fine for a day or two and then get the pains again. Mercifully I've not had a bad cough, maybe as I wasn't a heavy smoker, but I've had acid reflux which I understand can happen when you quit. I guess it's just my poor old body trying to sort out the damage I've done to it over the years and in many ways I'm grateful for what's happening despite the worry, as I'm very unlikely to start smoking again knowing what I've been through this time. Good luck to you all, keep at it and you can do it!
