I am on Zoloft and smoke marijuana frequently. I have never experienced any adverse effects but like someone else said before, everyone's bodies react differently.

Hey,

I am a daily smoker and a daily consumer of Zoloft at 100 mg. I have had no side effects whatsoever from taking the two drugs at the same time. I think a good reason of this is that my personal reaction to marijuana is to the effect of relaxing me, whereas some people experience increased heart rates and paranoia. What you experience while under the influence of marijuana can also be variable to the quality, strain, and whether or not you get your drug from a reputable source. With marijuana illegal in many parts of the world, it is hard to be sure that your marijuana is not cut with other substances that could cause you to have a bad experience. I suggest that you check the strains online at

hey, my names dan and i was wondering if zoloft is a good combination with pot, i've been a heavy pot smoker for a long time, i've never really thought negatively about it because it grows in the ground. The pot helps me sleep, gives me appetite, and a nice relaxation after work and from reading these entries it seems as tho it'd be best for me just to quit cold turkey anyboyds thoughts?

Just curious how much marijuana you smoked? And if the THC levels of that particular strain are considerably high, then chances are, you may have just smoked too much. I have been on Zoloft for the last 15 years, and marijuana does NOT agree with me. I have been researching, and found that the higher the TCH levels, the chances your paranoia and anxiety will be. Maybe a different strain with low levels of THC and a higher level of CBD (canabanoid) content, might be something that would agree with you. I am still researching this. Anyone have any input on this? Thanks. :)

You dont smoke 30 g's a week stop lying. Thats more than an ounce a week you would be spending THOUSANDS of dollars on marijuana alone in a month.

BS! SSRI's inhibit the production of a family of enzymes that inhibit the metabolism of THC in the liver. Your levels never maintain or barely go down but just keep compounding. You are at risk for psychotic episodes one example is Mike Tyson.

let me guess you live in your mom's basement and have hobbies like video games and remote control cars, get real piss in a cup and see what your levels are you are an addict. try to go a day without smoking pot and tell me how your anxiety feels, try to leave the house to do something stressful without having to smoke. you can't been there done that.

I just had the worst experience ever. I have smoked THC in the past on many occasions and I'm one of those guys that can handle all forms of weed. All I know is countless smokers who just do it for fun. I haven't smoked in months and went to a friends place who had some. I have been on Zoloft 200mg just about every day for the last 2 months, been on Zoloft for like over 2 years. I hardly even smoked much this time and went on a severe trip. It's hard to explain it but it was extremely painful. It last for 9 hours straight. Had to get them call the ambulance because I couldn't shake out of it. I don't do any other drugs and had no alcohol in my system but did have 3 cups of coffee with caffeine which I don't have often.

Anyhow, I am just glad I made it through that. I am 41 and had never gone through something like that. The Doctors just basically laughed at me and reacted foolishly because I had smoked a weed. They treated me like dirt and just wheeled me off into a corner of the guest room. I eventually got up and walked down the hallway to get away from all the people staring at me. Finally, thankfully, the trip subsided and it left after almost a full day.

The encounter caused these symptoms. Shortness of breath, repeated chestal cramps, burning in the lungs, my body was doing the funky chicken like the heroin users do, I couldn't open my eyes, couldn't hear people, it was all dark around me and felt like all my muscles on my chest were trying to cramp up.

Obviously I would be stupid to smoke it again but one thing I know is that hospital is the wrong place to go if you have a mental health problem.

I started with zoloft before I ever drank alcohol or did any drugs. Drinking with zoloft is a bad idea because having a few too many drinks which you could handle while you weren't taking zoloft you might have blackouts and memory trouble. For me the next day was always the worst, I just felt uncomfortable because I drank the previous night and I knew it wasn't just a day where I felt odd, it had to do with drinking. Smoking on the other hand is different, it seems that it reacts differently with every person because personally it makes me much more calm and for the next few days I am very relaxed and thoughtful/happy, and these are from good experiences. The bad experiences I've had are just from blatant paranoia, like almost getting caught or doing something stupid. But marijuana doesn't react with a lot of medications, but please be responsible and don't over use an illegal drug that isn't prescribed because with other medications you can even make things worse (Depression, panic attacks, and anxiety) I also observed that people who use marijuana regulatory start to obtain a reliance to it, which isn't becoming a drug addict because millions of people are addicted to caffeine in coffee, energy drinks, ect., and once that person starts relying on it obviously they will become depressed, uncomfortable, and anxious when they haven't smoked that day, but I believe that once in awhile won't cause any traumatic events or mental health issues..
