i feel u guys. im 14 and i used to masturbate every day. This lead to me breaking out bad. So im trying to stop masturbating for 2 weeks straight, but i usually give in after a week. Its hard, but its worth having clear skin, and the confidence it gives u is sweet.

Same exact situation here. I'm pretty sure that acne acts on a 1 or 2 week delay though. (i.e. masturbate for a week, one week after the first time you'll break out) Drinking water and limiting sugar seems to help too.

Another tip: if you masturbate more than once in a day, make sure you stagger the time between each session. The closer the sessions are in time, the more your hormones fluctuate. Also, if you over-masturbate in day, the body will keep semen production at a high until it is no longer needed. This is why when someone stops masturbating for a week or two, and then has just one orgasim, they break out--the body has reduced semen production and the high level of hormones associated with it.

Best bet is to not masturbate at all, eat healthy and drink lots of water, or learn to accept that you will have acne till your 30's.

My input:
1. Yes, sex/orgasms/ejaculation causes acne. (Btw I'm 35 and it still happens.)
2. Yes, not having the above prevents acne and makes the acne you have go away.

What do I recommend?
Don't stop having sex and orgasms because they are a huge part of the fun of being alive! Just deal with the result the best you can. Find a middle ground somewhere, a compromise. Abstain from sex for a certain amount of time in trade for a tolerable level of acne annoyance. Half jokingly: people probably start dying when they stop having sex, so don't do it! :-)

How do I deal with the resulting acne?
3% hydrogen peroxide and careful exfoliation/moisturization. [$Pharmaceutical$ industry employees cover your ears.] This cures the acne symptoms better than retin-a for me (but not the cause unfortunately). Your experience may vary, but if you haven't tried this and you've got nothing to lose then I recommend testing it. About me: I'm 35 and have light to moderate acne, and sensitive skin that dries and burns easily. It used to be worse when I was younger, which was tons of fun let me tell ya! I use hydrogen peroxide in 3% strength on my face. It prevents most or all acne from occurring, dries up any existing acne, reduces the bumps to nothing, and makes the acne redness disappear. The only thing that gets through is one or two little red bumps here and there. I must moisturize carefully to prevent the drying effect the hydrogen peroxide has on my skin. (I don't have to go crazy with the moisturizer, I just can't be sloppy and forget.) I wipe 3% hydrogen peroxide onto my face, avoiding my eyes and hair (watch the eyebrows!). It will sting my eyes but not harm them if I get a little in them. If I keep getting it on my hair it will slowly lighten the hair color over many applications (bleaching). I apply the hydrogen peroxide once or twice each night. If you decide to test this, please take it slow and make sure it isn't messing you up in other ways that could be worse than acne (discoloring your skin, causing rashes, who knows). Try using a q-tip to apply it directly on some acne to wet the area multiple times each night. If it's going to work at all, you should see the results in only days of doing this. And if that works, try doing it to a wider area to get the prevention effect.

How did I find out about it?
I started by experimenting with methods of disinfecting my mouth. Because my acne always occurs around my mouth, and I have tooth problems, I suspected that whatever was causing the tooth problems was probably also causing the acne too. I learned that tooth decay is actually caused by an anaerobic bacteria in the mouth that eats sugar that you leave in there, and the waste product is an acid that eats your tooth enamel. (Bacteria poop eats your teeth! lol) After learning that, I investigated ways to kill these bacteria. I found that hydrogen peroxide is very good at killing anaerobic bacteria, and tested it. I found that it worked so well that I ended up using it as a complete replacement for tooth paste and mouthwash, it beat them both so bad. I decided that if it worked so well in my mouth, I should try it on my face. So I did, and I found that it worked on my acne just as well as it did in my mouth. Its much more effective than retin-a, and it doesn't cause the same redness that retin-a did, which is great! (It does cause slight redness, but its nowhere near as bad as what the retin-a would do to me.) At this point, I don't need to buy toothpaste, mouthwash, or acne medication anymore. I just have to buy hydrogen peroxide, which is very cheap. (And can be made cheaper, if you know another trick I found.)

What would I really like?
For someone to solve the acne problem once and for all. And while we're kind of on the topic of sex, then...lol.

Heres a joke for all you fellow sufferers:
Don't feel bad that you have acne, and don't try to hide it. Think about it this way: if acne is a sign that someone is turned on, then people who want to have sex should be all over you! :-) XD Keep up the good work and keep researching. Let me know if you have any questions.

I think that your input is helpful but can you tell me which exfoliator you'd recommend? I have had the worst luck with them and they seem to make my acne worse. Can you let me know?

Hi there healthnfitnessguy. Let's see if I've got anything to help. Regarding exfoliation:

Overview:
The goal for exfoliation is to prevent having to do it. But while you are working on getting there, the key to good exfoliation is to do it as gently as possible. Irritating the skin leads to a red face and more acne.

Avoiding the need for exfoliation:
Reduce or eliminate everything that cause you to dry out. (Alcohol, smoking, etc...) Don't use lye-based body and hand soaps on your face; use a special facial soap, or don't use soap on your face at all. Rubbing your face gently with warm water displaces enough oils to suitably clean it. Perhaps lightly soap your face with a non-lye-based soap once a week or whenever the warm water method needs some help. In this way, clean your face once a day or so to get water on it (water your face like a plant), pat dry but not too dry, and immediately use a light layer of moisturizer. This helps to capture the moisture in the skin. (Note that if you have to goop on a lot of moisturizer, you probably need to find a better moisturizer.)

Moisturizing:
I use baby oil, which is somewhat controversial and can probably be replaced with olive oil if you don't like the idea of using an oil by-product. Regardless of the controversy around it, baby oil works very well for me. (I've been considering switching to olive oil to see if there is any difference.) Apply a thin coat immediately after cleaning your face to capture the moisture; not too much, just enough to make your face slightly shiny. Keep it away from your eyes and eyelids (when it gets in your eyes it blurs them which is annoying). Just switching to baby oil from the white-cream types reduced my need to exfoliate by about 4x. I used to have to exfoliate once a week (and multiple sessions to get it all off as gently as I could), but after switching I only have to exfoliate about once a month or less. This reduced my red-face problems considerably. In addition, using the baby oil seems to make the dead skin easier to get off. Instead of being scaly, dry, and leaving patches of red skin underneath, the dead skin is soft and comes off easily. I can almost get it off with warm water and just my hands.

Exfoliation (primary routine):
Whenever you can feel some dead skin building up, and before you can actually see it, gently use a clean wash cloth under warm running water in the shower to rub off the dead skin. Don't rub hard, just apply a light pressure and pass it over the skin. I found that if I have to rub hard, I'm doing something wrong and I'm going to pay for it with a red face. If one session doesn't get it all off, repeat it after your face has calmed down from the first session. But try not to let the dead skin buildup to this point. Allowing that much dead skin to build up will allow acne to start forming under it.

Exfoliation (experimental routine):
I checked out the rumors of the honey-aspirin mask and started experimenting with it twice a week. I researched honey and aspirin to validate the functionality of both. (I really liked what I found out about honey, so I'm experimenting with it in other ways in my life.) The mask appears to work as rumored. The first thing I noticed is that the skin really does feel softer after washing the mask off. The second thing I noticed is that, over multiple applications, it is evening out the color of my face, reducing the contrast of red areas to non-red areas.

Side note 1:
I recommend *not* using fabric softeners on your wash cloth and towels. It seems that many fabric softeners are irritating to the skin, and can even be harmful to you. You might want to stop using it on your clothes and bedsheets too.

Side note 2:
As I mentioned in my first post, I use hydrogen peroxide on my face to almost completely defeat acne. Interestingly enough, I found that even though it can dry the skin over time, it also lifts up tiny patches of dead skin, which might assist exfoliation. After applying hydrogen peroxide to my face, I can look at myself closely in the mirror and see any dead skin as tiny white patches. The hydrogen peroxide appears to be foaming up under it, lifting it up and cleaning under it.

Hey guys, this issue is completely true and i've been suffering for more than 10 years maybe. I'm now 24 though.

I think i've found a solution. After jerking off drinking a bottle of milk immidiately, and a bottle of milk for the next 3 days at least. My skins condition not getting worse.. Anyone's given a try? I think u must try that.

Also after the shower try inserting your face in a case with full of ice cold water(few times). This can prevent your pores to get increased in size.

Those were the only solutions i've found really. I've also tried Homeopathy treatments but no success at all. Don't even try those silly treatments, just waste of money.

Please share if you find anything works.

Gl :-)

This is ridiculous and untrue. Masturbation's effects are only positive.

Ohhhh, you're all in the same situation as me.. and yes it does indeed affect your confidence. I can definately say that for myself, if my face has a breakout, i find it hard to have eye to eye contact with someone without feeling a tad embarrassed. But I must admit that resistance IS futile and the only things that appear to work for me are:

-Water (A fair old amount)
-Benzoyl Peroxide 4% (Ok, so it dries out the skin, but with a good moisturiser it does the trick nicely)
-Apples (Yeah, it sounds bizarre but my god does it make a difference... try it and you'll see)
-Time outside in the sun... Whenever it's summer time especially, it helps, as the sun seems to clear my acne up pretty well.

Things I will say are that; the increased water intake seems to make the bags under my eyes disappear and also appears to make my pores a lot tighter and nicer looking, and for serious breakouts (yes after those few moments of pleasure 8-| ) the Benzoyl in large amounts really does take down the inflammation quite substantially.

Anyways I hope this helped a little...

Tom in blighty!

Hi there, thanks for the big guide to exfoliation. I have really sensitive skin so I usually can't do it without messing my skin up but this worked okay, so thanks for posting it! I would just change one thing--I can't do baby oil or any other sort of oil. It does cause me to breakout. I used a different moisturizer and it helped there.

You are welcome healthnfitnessguy, I am glad something in my routine helped you.

Experiment:

I conducted an experiment last week where I released myself four days in a row (once a day for four days, much more than I need to). Towards the fourth day, a huge crowd of bumps were beginning to form around my mouth/jaw area. This is much more than usual--I usually only get one or two, this was like 20. I beat them back with hydrogen peroxide before most of them became red, and am back to being mostly clear skinned about a week later.

Disbelievers of sex causing acne:

In reviewing all the comments made on this subject, it appears to me that there are two kinds of people. One that has this problem and one that doesn't. The people who write with disbelief are clearly the type that doesn't have this problem. Note that the ones who do have this problem don't have a problem believing the ones who don't have this problem, but not the other way around.

Hi Guest, can you tell us which ones you tried that do not work?

Hi non-believer, you are right! We are all just lying to you to for no reason at all. It's perfectly logical when you think about it. We like wasting our time.

Yes sure my friend, i was searching for those treatments that i've heard before, i made a topic and explained my problems there as others did, and ppl called ''Doctors or whatever'' wrote exactly this (im copying from there) ''staphysagaria 1m weekly dose for one month china 30 one dose daily for 15 days report''

These medicines can be found in forum's store. So i ordered them and used as they mentioned. But bad luck nothing happened. Because some say Homeopathy really works some say its not true.

At least i gave a try and saw with my own eyes if it works for me or not. Medicines are cheap though you can try it if you wish...

We have to cure this idiotic problem or ill suicide soon...

Cheers
