Hi there, I'm only 10 days post op. I had an anterior facelift, basically the mid part of face, excisions are front of ears and up into hairline near temporal area. The tightness and numbness and 'chipmunk' cheeks I can cope with however, most of the swelling has dissipated around my eyes (I had a skin-pinch excision lower bleph to remove a bit of saggy skin) BUT I seem to have 2 pillow like ledges under my eyes that won't dissappear no matter how much massage. Has anyone else had this type of swelling under eyes? When caught in any light, especially if light is above face, the 'ledges' really show and cause the cheeks to look slight hollow in the malar area. This was my real problem area before the facelift, hopefully to be corrected, I had drooping of lower eyelids and hollowing out of cheeks in the eyelid/cheek junction. The surgeon has pulled this whole area up and back but it now looks like the dreaded 'malar bags'.. little pillows of swelling that just sit in the malar area - on the lower eyelid/cheek junction line. Sorry, does anyone know what I mean?! Unfortunatley I've scared myself to death reading about problems with malar bags following surgery and am frightenend that's what I'll be left with, or could it just be -fingers crossed - residual swelling under the eyes that will flatten out in time?!! Lord I hope so! Rest of face seems in good shape, but these ledges kinda ruin the rest of the contour!!! I know it's very early on but do you think this could turn into malar bags or that it is just swelling soon to go down in this area? Also, I'm guessing that the top of the cheek area still has to 'readhere' to the tissues so perhaps it causes it to feel and look slightly baggy until it 'sticks' so to speak?! I'm hoping here!!

Good to share at least, it's a frightening process! Not seeing my surgeon until Monday now for 1st check so a few days to sweat it out, am trying to busy my mind as much as poss and ignore the mirrors, but I'm scared when I catch the reflection of these 'ledges' under my eyes!
