Hello..I know it's a long time ago that you wrote this..but I would love to know what happened when you took it out..I'm about to take mine out and so nervous about what to expect. :(
I'm not even at two years! I was desperate. Bleeding all the time, for years...Seriously. My time of the month was the few days not bleeding.Dr. suggests the Mirena....Can be easily popped in after I had polyp removed from the uterus...All those previous cysts on the ovaries, they just go away on their own. Well, two years later, I am bleeding like someone stole a child from my womb, and that is no joke, because the entire point was to reduce bleeding and now I am getting a two week to month now blood fest, I do not see how this is to make it shorter or lighter. Also, I am 41, Dealing with this for decades.
I had my Mirena in for 3 years and I’ve also started having abdominal cramps and some bleeding I am worried and am going to see my Gp about it
Lorena is only good for 4 years
Go to Planned Parenthood fir consultation. Good luck!
I had dry eye lids
Yep. I started spotting when mine was due to be replaced.
I’m sailing in the same boat!I have painful cramps!I have periods twice a month!I hate Mirena with passion.I don’t have insurance but I’m in so much pain in the verge of dying.
Hello all,
Only a certain percentage of women will stop having a period with an iud. There is nowhere written saying that you will never have a period once a iud is inserted. You all are probably now having a period due to the build up of not having a period for so long that now it is being released, which may include blood clots, etc. If you are really concerned please go get checked out by your GYN to make sure everything is ok. My guess she probably will tell you the same thing that I written

I have exact symptoms as you. Did you ever figure it out or get checked?
Hi ladies, i have been reading through a bunch of blogs lately trying to see if anyone has had the same issues that i have had due to the Mirena and wanted to share my expirence.
Right before Valentine’s Day last week i started bleeding for the first time. Not heavy but enough to wear a panty liner and i was having cramps. I took a pregnancy test for an unrelated medication and found out i am pregnant. I have been on the Mirena for most 4 years, I never had a period, had spotting no more than 5 times and honestly loved this form of BC. But i am now in and out of the doctors office and getting blood taken every other day to see where my HCG levels are. Pregnancy’s with the Mirena have a very high risk of being ectopic. They have been unsuccessful in finding anything in the ultrasound so it is now a waiting game. I am very thankful that i found out early enough because an ectopic pregnancy could ruptur my Fallopian tube if not terminated in time. My OBG has told me this is a very “tricky” case as my levels are going up but not at the rate they should be. So they don’t want to terminate if my body is already doing it on its own and can not terminate without knowing if the pregnancy is abnormal or not. Meaning, they can not yet determine if it is in my uterus or one of my tubes.
This is my first pregnancy and i have cried every single day since finding out until i had the Mirena removed. Although, this is still a very difficult process my mood has taken a complete 180 and i am able to get through a full work day now without breaking down. I was uncomfortable the day it was removed but have been fine since. I am no longer experiencing cramping or bleeding.
At the very least, if you are having symptoms of bleeding and cramping take a pregnancy test. I can’t imagaine how much worse this would be if i hadn’t found out early enough to take the proper steps.
Good luck!

I have only had mine for 1 year and yesterday day I started chunky bleading I thought I was very a miscarriage although I never thought I was pregnant I was told if your having a miscarriage then a pregnancy test will still show up positive so I did it and it was negative but I still can figure out why I'm bleading and y it looks like it dose
I'm on my third mirena. They only seem to last three years. After that the bleeding and cramps start again. I've just passed three years with this one in January. Started bleeding a couple of days ago. Feeling very emotional too. Time to chase up a new one. Took six months to get them to change the last one. During which time I bled continually. Feeling quite hacked off
I am panicking! I've had my iud for three years this month. I've been having really bad pain and cramping to the point where I fee nauseous. I also woke up this morning with a really heavy flow and I haven't had a period for the three years I've had it.
with a miscarriage you can get a negative pregnancy test xx
