My 11 week old has been experiencing similar symptoms and also had the rotavirus vacine at 2 months. Symtoms began about a week ago. She went from 1 to 2 poops a day to about 8-10. When it began she had one poop with mucus and a tiny bit of blood. First few days it was yellow and seedy grainy then green grainy and is now back to yellow. She is in fine spirits and feeding about 4-5 times a day, sleeping through the night. She is not dehydrated - I see her blowing bubbles a lot. I have been keeping an eye on temperature but it has been averaging 36.5 celcius.
I have been delaying going to the doctors because all other indications apart from the poop tells me she is fine. I'm going to try cutting out milk and bread in my diet to see if there is any change...

Hi...
My daughter also got green mucousy stools when she was about 2-3 months old. I discovered that she was getting too much foremilk and not enough hindmilk. I fed her from the same breast two times in a row and then switched to the other breast. Within a few days, her stool changed back to yellow and I never had an issue again. I found this information regarding foremilk/hindmilk on the La Leche Leauge's website.

My son had the same problem after his rotavirus vaccination. His stool changed to liquid green and the doctor kept telling me he was fine because he was gaining weight. My son became very colicky and would cry for hours. We kept asking his doctor to do some tests but he wouldn't. After almost 2 months of fighting we finally left the other doc and one more in his facility with no result, we found a new doc somewhere else. He knew immediately how to fix the problem. He put our son on Questrum(sp) which binds to cholesterol and immediately we noticed a difference within 1 day. It took about 30 days to wean him from the 4mg dose to nothing. Also, our new MD did not give our son the subsequent rotavirus vaccinations.
My baby son had the same after four months immunisation. Dark green and dark brown mucus, with blood in his stool. It has been two month!
His Pediatritian suspects food allergy, but I have stopped most common allergic food in my diet (including diairy food), his stool is still bad.
I suspected the 4 months immunisation but non of the doctors believe it's possible.
Does any of you bub recover at all? how long did it take?
My son is about due to the 6 months immunisation. I am very wooried.

I'm so glad I found this site. My 3 month old son is experiencing the same thing. One week after his 2 month vaccines (which included the Rotavirus vaccine) he began having green, mucusy, foul smelling poops. During and after feedings he cries like he's in pain. He's breastfed and I too have cut out all dairy. Nothing worked. I even thought I had a milk inbalance and he was getting to much foremilk so I began doing block feedings. He still has green diarrhea. I took him to the doctor 1 week ago and I even mentioned that none of this started until after the rotavirus vaccine. He dismissed that the vaccine was the cause. He did order a stool sample and he put as the diagnosis "to rule out rotavirus". I'm waiting on the results of the stool sample. I am convinced this is all related to the rotavirus vaccine and he will not be getting the next dose at his 4 month visit.
same thing happening wondering how long it lasts
My 2 month old started to have blood tinged mucousy stools 3 days after having the rotavirus vaccine. I took him to the dr. but the doc said the vaccines (I didn't specify which vacs were taken and this doc was not our reg. doc) wouldn't be the culprit, but a intestinal viral infection (which is what the rotavirus is, right?). I have since eliminated dairy from my diet, I'm on day 2, but now have noticed a rash over my son's body (but not head). After reading up, I suspect that the rotavirus vaccine is the cause of at least the questionable stools.
I may need to follow up with our reg family doc, just to be sure.

Same problem here. The day after she received her 2-month immunization with Rotateq my daughter had blood-tinged stools. It's been two weeks since then. I put her on Nutramigen (she was exclusively breastfed before this incident). Now I'm on a strict diet and reintroducing breast milk progressively. She is better, but the mucus is not completely gone, and sometimes it still has a bloody tinge to it. The number of stools reduced significantly on Nutramigen, from 6-7 to 1. I suspect a Rotateq-induced food allergy and hope that my diet has solved the problem.
How long did this problem last for those of you who have experienced it?
P.S. isn't it EXTREMELY frustrating to hear again and again from the doctor that this CANNOT have been triggered by the vaccine???

I had the same issues. my son had the vaccine on Tuesday. His poop had started to turn a little green a few days before the vaccine. The doctor said it was normal. two days after the vaccine, his poop was bright green. on the third day, he had a little bit of blood in his stool. i took him immediately to the doctor. She said it was most likely his body reacting to the virus. it is not harmful. she said the green and blood should be gone in 2-3 days. if it is not, I will be back in the doctor's office.
My 9 week old daughter is exclusively breastfed. She has been having very mucous stools for about a week now and a few have been blood-tinged as well. Her stools have also been green frequently; I've noticed that the green stools typically occur if she's most recently breastfed for just a short time. She has not had any vaccines yet. My pediatrician and lacatation consultant both told me the blood and mucous is likely due to intestinal irritation that could be cause by something in my diet. The doctor said to eliminate dairy (including no sheep or goat milk products), eggs, and nuts, and the lactation consultant recommended eliminating soy and wheat as well. I've been going dairy, soy, egg, and nut free for about 4 days with no change; I'm starting the wheat-free diet today. I am hopeful that we can figure out what this is as I really do NOT want to stop breastfeeding. Besides the weird poop, she is a very happy, healthy, and growing baby.
We had this same experience during our baby's few months old, she had green mucous stools and some blood tinged. Try to stop the baby vitamin supplement drops, we stopped the vitamin drops the symptoms stopped and its probably cause by intestinal allergy to vitamin drops. Try switching to other vitamin drops. Hope it helps.
The rotavirus vaccine is a live virus so it will, can, and DOES cause some kids to get rotavirus afterwards. (My doctor told me this) After my daughter got her 4 month shots she started throwing up and having the diarrhea and then my husband and my 2 sons got it. When we went back to the dr she told me that if a child gets sick from this vaccine it is also contagious bc of the fact that it is a live vaccine. She told me that she would not be giving her the last dose and she was going to send a reaction letter to the CDC..... thought this may help
We had the same thing happen except it all start with diarrhea and then very mucous, greenish poop. The green I was kind of use to because it's pretty typical for formula fed babies. However, we had recently switched formula to help with her spit up. We began using formula that was partially broken down with a lower lactose content. About a week after we did that she also started rice cereal. She stopped spitting up by about 80% but that's when the poop got crazy. And then she had horrible rashes from it all. I didn't know what to do and what was causing it. She had a normal temperature and she wasn't tired/sluggish or abnormal acting in any way. Now that everything seems to have cleared up mostly (still sometimes has a bit mucousy stool) I think the formula helped her stop spitting up so much (her spit up was super mucousy) and she ended up pooping out all that mucous instead. We ruled out the rice cereal being a problem because we stopped it for a few days and the mucousy poop still kept occurring. Hopefully her body will continue to adjust.
I have a 14 week old baby and have had greenish stools and the musus. just noticed a bit of blood yesterday. My 2 other kids and my husband have coeliacs disease and there may be some dairy intolerance in our family too, so I thought it may be something I had been eating. My baby is exclusively breast and I have been gluten free just in case it affects her. She has been a perfect baby so I think it helps. I do think she is more unsettled and has reflux when I have eaten gluten. It was great to find this site because I have had no real help from doctors here in Gisborne and have reseached the food intolerances myself on the internet. My baby also seems otherwise healthy and happy, but I certainly think the mucus is a sign of something irritating the digestive system. My other 2 children will have mucusy stools if they have had gluten. Has anyone actually found a probable solution to the mucusy stools. My baby has had her 6week vaccination but I am now reluctant to do the 3 month ones. Is it the vaccines?
Even my 4 months old daughter has green mucous stools since one week. For her Rotavirus vaccination is not yet given. I remember it started after giving her dates paste orally to supplement the iron. I doubt the mucous and green stool is due to some infection or foremilk and indmilk imbalance or some allergic food which we take
