I had tags removed earlier this year and for a while was delighted that the area was almost clear but gradually the tag has returned and even after cleaning the area after having a movement I can never get the area completely clean and have to regularly tidy up during the day
Hiya Im now 13 days after my operation, I had a general anaesthetic. I cant believe that you've had this whilst pregnant you brave lady. Im still sore and still having to have medicine to help me have a BM. im still off work and due to see consultant tomorrow to se if Im ok to go back to work and how ive healed. I still am using a sanitary pad as Im still bleeding expecially after a BM, and im still having a salt bath. Im also showering every time I use the WC. Im abit smelly though my husband says he cant smell me I can! so Im constantly washing and changing pad. Im sleeping better and I have found that by putting a pillow inbetween my legs at thigh level this helps me sleep. Also Im not one for wearing big knickers, however ive gone and got some bridget jones knickers to help. Also you had an appendectomy - my you are going through it. Im sorry to hear you tale - it sounds horrible, sending you a hug! I hope your feeling brighter soon, and let us know how your getting on. Its not a nice procedure to have at any time but beingn pregnant well as In said hugs to you. Im in the UK so if your in another country it could be why yours was done under local. Take care M
Thanks for sharing your experience, reading about other people's recovery gives me a bit of an indication on what to expect. I'm 6 days post op now, and I'm still finding everything fairly uncomfortable. Obviously the majority of the pain is centred during or after a BM. I'm making a habit of laying at the bottom of the bath with a hot shower going and add a cup of epsom salt as the bath is filling. I usually hang out there for half an hour and give myself a chance to recommit myself to eating a liquids-only diet... which just isn't going to happen. I need to figure out a good balance of water/ pain killers/ stool softeners/ metamucil or benefiber to avoid the constipation I have experienced over the past 4-5 days. I'm not being diligent enough, and it's making BMs very uncomfortable. I'm still getting light brownish and slightly bloody discharge and I did make the mistake of taking a look at the area. I knew it would be upsetting, but I am hoping a lot of the comments mentioning that the swelling takes a while to go down are true. It looks worse than before the surgery. I'm just hoping that it is just swelling and that hemmorhoids aren't reintroducing themselves. As for getting this done whilst pregnant... I also have a fistula from an abscess that ruptured a few months back. I'm 27 years old- healthy, good diet, fit and very hygienic- it is beyond me how my luck is this bad. I will have to go in for a fistulectomy after the delivery of my baby which is still a good 4-5 months away. I figured it is ideal to try and correct the skin tags before the major operation so once it is all over, I have no problems and go back to a 'clean slate'. Keep me updated with your recovery- and try not to get too upset about the way it looks. From what I'm reading, it does take a while to settle down before you can get a good idea on how it will look.
Thank you!

HI, I AM SCHEDULED TO HAVE THIS SURGERY IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND AFTER READING ALL OF THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT IT, I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING CANCELLING IT. DO YOU FEEL AS IF THE SURGERY WAS WORTH IT, OR JUST ANOTHER MONEY MAKING HYPE? PLEASE ADVISE
i had a single tag removed under local anesthetic 8 days ago. the local injections were brutally painful. the first two days the pain was at a minimum, though i did have significant rectal bleeding with each bowel movement. the third day post-op, during and following a bowel movement, i had the absolute worse pain of my life - 11/10, i was on the floor, couldn't move or stand for a good hour. then lay still for another two hours after taking tylenol and ibuprofen. every day since then when i open my bowels, it's another bout of agonizing pain (varies from 7-9/10, nothing like that first one) that is soothed by a sitz bath, but still takes up to 3 hours to resolve completely. once the agonizing pain subsides, i'm left with discomfort on walking/sitting/bending. it's horrible, and doesn't seem to be improving. if i had to do it over again, knowing what i know, i'd opt out of the procedure. it really is just a cosmetic procedure after all.
i have them too but not removed /if you want to leave email we can talk thanks
I had an anal skin tag removed, and due to reading about people's experiences online I was really worried beforehand. I made the decision to go on a juice/soup diet beginning two days before the surgery, up until about a week after the surgery--- and I honestly think it made a world of difference. As a result of not having to go to the bathroom, the area was able to heal for a full week. When I finally did go (I eased back in by eating soft vegetables in soup), it did hurt---- but after the first time, it really truly wasn't bad. And it quickly got better. I'm about 2 weeks post-surgery, and am basically back to normal. I don't regret getting the surgery at all---- incredibly grateful to Dr. Kelly Garrett in New York for a job well done. For those of you reading up because you're considering getting the surgery, I highly recommend a liquid diet---- and a reputable doctor is obviously key too.
