It has now been a little over 5 weeks and I'm just starting to feel normal. The first two weeks were extremely painful, with the following weeks getting progressively better. My main problem at this point is insomnia, I believe caused by trying to wean myself off of pain medication. I had used gauze pads with rectal analgesic for a few weeks and it helped a little. Sitz baths were a godsend!
I totally didn't expect so much time off from work (I hope to go back next week). If you have it, use your short-term disability.
I had my surgery 6 days ago.
my first BM was after 3 days, and it wasn't painful, but from day 4 onward after BM, I am in agony cleaning myself.
I have large hole where skin tag used to be, I am bleeding, and pain gives me tears...10/10
I do hope this hole is part of healing process..... anyone? x

How does it look now? Better? I want to have mine done but don't know a good doctor to trust
Have your info to consult please?
I had an anal tag removed about a month ago and I am so glad I did! I was scared because my doctor told me it was going to be extremely painful. She actually said it would be a 12 out of 10 on the pain scale. I didn't have bad pain at all. My pain was no more than a 4. I live with chronic back pain so maybe I have more of a pain tolerance than I realized but it was really a breeze compared to what I was expecting. It looks completely normal now and is no longer bothering me at all. I used a sitz bath and squirt bottles after bowel movements for around 2 weeks. I recommend getting a couple squirt bottles for cleaning up more than anything. After a while you don't want to have to get out the sitz bath every time. It's just not necessary. I just wanted to share my experience because I had googled it beforehand an found this and really got scared. I just wanted to ease some fears if I could.
