Hi I had this procedure done 6 days ago, I’m in constant pain and it also looks worse than ever. Did you heal ok? I’m terrified I will be left with bigger lumps and bumps than I I had before!

I had a hemorrhoidectomy and a skin tag removal at the same time. The doc apparently cut out both together and cut me deep, exposing my anal sphincter muscle. Two other hemorrhoids were banded.

It has now been a little over 5 weeks and I'm just starting to feel normal. The first two weeks were extremely painful, with the following weeks getting progressively better. My main problem at this point is insomnia, I believe caused by trying to wean myself off of pain medication. I had used gauze pads with rectal analgesic for a few weeks and it helped a little. Sitz baths were a godsend!

I totally didn't expect so much time off from work (I hope to go back next week). If you have it, use your short-term disability.

Hi everyone. I had a small skin tag removed about 4 days ago and I had a fissure injected with botox too. Feeling a little disheartened at present as it took a lot of courage for me to op for surgery after reading a lot of discouraging posts. When I had a peek the first day, there was just a little blood and a hole where the tag used to be. Day two no BM yet. Day three had my first BM and then after looking again it looks like a new skin tag next to the slit / hole. I’m hoping this is just swelling as don’t want to feel I’ve gone through this all for nothing. I’ve been doing all the right things including taking stool softeners, panadol, high fibre food, soups, salt baths twice a day, rest etc ...not sure what else to do and need to have faith in my surgeon but it looks like a new skin tag, not swelling. I hope to god I’m wrong!!! :( Did anyone else who had a similar experience find it healed after a week??

How long did it take to heal. I'm 7 days in and it's been beyond painful.

Hi there, I had my surgery 9 days ago to Botox the fissure and remove skintag. I have little pain and some minimal bleeding but it looks like another skin tag has formed. I hope it’s just swelling :(((

Hi. I have been suffering from external piles for the last 4 years. I got 4 piles after 2 pregnancies. I went to doctor and he said they are skin tags. But I am a little confused. Is it normal the skin tags to swollen after each BM? Are they still called skin tags or are they hemorrhoids? After a bowel movement, I have to sit down for a few minutes or hour. Otherwise they will get swollen. If rhey get swollen, they will take a fee hours to come back to number size. Is that happening to all of you? Or thess are not realy skin tags, but piles? The surgean wanted to schedule me to a surgery to remove them one by one, but I am scarred and in doubt it will be helpful. I really appreciate your answers.

I had mine done three days ago. Nearly died in pain. Dr never gave me any thing. Told me to take Tylenol. Well I couldn’t take it any more. So I dug in the cabinets and found some exact muscle and back pain relief. Well this is saving me. I’m finally able to settle in for a bit without having to get up. Hope you feel better soon

I had two skin tags removed. I never thought it was going to be this painful. I’ve been showering after every bowel movement and having sitz baths. But still in so much pain. I haven’t been able to settle down and rest. Been having to go to the washroom a hundred times. And so painful to get up each time. Dr gave me no pain meds and Tylenol wasn’t helping. Well I went and found some equate muscle and back relaxer. Omg it’s a life saver. I only took one and it’s stopped the severe pain and has made it so my anus can relax a bit. Ugg this is the worst ever. But will continue to take these back pills and should be able to get some well needed rest. Will be staying on the couch for a week to make sure I heal properly. I hope this will help someone cause this is the worst surgery ever. I’m following what a guy said and not doing a thing for a week. Not touching my ass with anything. Rinsing in the shower and lots of sitz baths and hopefully the healing goes fast.

I had an anal tag removed about a month ago and I am so glad I did! I was scared because my doctor told me it was going to be extremely painful. She actually said it would be a 12 out of 10 on the pain scale. I didn't have bad pain at all. My pain was no more than a 4. I live with chronic back pain so maybe I have more of a pain tolerance than I realized but it was really a breeze compared to what I was expecting. It looks completely normal now and is no longer bothering me at all. I used a sitz bath and squirt bottles after bowel movements for around 2 weeks. I recommend getting a couple squirt bottles for cleaning up more than anything. After a while you don't want to have to get out the sitz bath every time. It's just not necessary.  I just wanted to share my experience because I had googled it beforehand an found this and really got scared. I just wanted to ease some fears if I could.
