Its a simple fix Bruce. Your T12 is out in your back. Look for a "Good" Chiropractor, like one who is specifically trained in the Gonstead method of Chiropractic.

i know this is years lster but you have costralchondritis. I have it too. No medicine, no cure. I quit smoking and lost weight and it went away. If you are female, like me, get a good supportive bra. It will take the pressure off your costal joint and keep it from getting inflamed.

Did you ever find out what it is? My doctor said I had a little sludge in my gall bladder and I am eating less fats, sugars and salt still hurts in same spot you said. I'm wondering about kindey or liver... they are both in that area.   I'll check outcostralchondritis... Thanks, Linda

I'm so sorry you're in so much pain.  I have been in this similar "mystery" for going on 7 years.  I've had many of the tests you name, but never a diagnosis.  I have not had gallbladder surgery as you have.  Best guess after all these years is a pinched nerve. My pain is under my left ribcage and has recently spread to include the same spot on my right side.  I find it difficult to sleep and take benadryl most nights to try. I've all but given up on finding a doctor who will help me.

It's hard to undergo all these tests and procedures with no result.  Know that there are others out here in the same boat.  Trusting God is the best way to get by.  He is the only one who can heal us, and many times He uses doctors.  I hope you feel better real soon and I hope it helps to know you're not alone.

with all best wishes,

Linda

An update to my previous post, my GP arranged for me to have an Ultrasound Scan which revealed a large defined mass on my right Kidney, a CT scan and camera's are now needed to establish if this is a tumour, apparently it is 4.5.cm and vascular. This would never have shown up from blood tests or urine tests. My reason for writing this post is to stress that your GP sends you for a scan as soon as possible.

Wow, so eerily he same, here!  My GI Dr caught anemia problem and are sending me thru focal cancer testing and then ct.  I heard the area of the right rib cage, an inch or so lower can be indicative of Liver problems and swelling.  I will do the scan.  This has hurt so bad the pat few days, I have had to stop driving to get out and lay flat.  I have had kidney stones, kidney stents and kidney allure with severe spasms.  Hs feels similar; but no at all in the same PACE, it's higher

I'm experiencing this right now and have been since I rolled paint on our textured kitchen ceiling using a very long nap roller with an extension handle. I believe pushing and pulling this heavy roller has strained back and side muscles causing intense pain. The motion of rolling the paint roller may have irritated the tissue between the ribs too. In my case the pain is intermittent and especially occurring when I twist in a certain way or if I bump into something sideways, a sharp jabbing pain that usually quickly subsides but the symptoms are lasting for weeks. I have been somewhat constipated at the same time and I have been told that a compacted colon can also be part of the pain because of its putting pressure on the back and inflamed areas.

Your symptoms and tests are identical to my daughter. She is in her 50s, had same pain, gall bladder removed, still in pain. Our wonderful doctor finally noticed something in her blood test results that was a red flag, although inconclusive. He ordered a different blood test that showed her liver was the problem. Final diagnosis was Primary Billary Chirosis. Has been on medication for over two years and seldom has the pain anymore. Diet is important too.She takes a drug called Urso Forte (for life). She fights bouts of itching as well, which is another sympton. Try to see a good liver doctor. Hope this helps.

One thing for you guys to Google is Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. All the symptoms of gallbladder problems and most common in those who have had their halfheartedly removed. I have it (but haven't had my gallbladder removed). I had all the tests for gallbladder and apart from it being thickened on ONE scan all was normal. However my LFT's and Gamma blood work was through the roof. Eventually referred to brilliant consultant who diagnosed the above. Its not a well known disorder so read up on it and if it fits with your symptoms ask your doctor to have it checked out. I'm awaiting surgery for mine as the anti-spasmotics and nitro spray do not work. Good luck!

What is a "Liver Dr?" I am not being sarcastic. Is that the Urologist that covers that, the Endochrinologist or who? I am going to check ito it, thanks!

Hi,

I too have been experience a pain under the right rib cage and have a lot of gas formation. The tests recommembed by the doctor included - ultrasound and endoscopy, the results are fine.

None of the medicines prescribed had any effect on me, and i tried out alternate medication i.e. Ayurveda.

Its been 3 weeks now the pain is coming down and am feeling a lot better. Iam currently on a fat free diet eating steamed vegetables, rice, wheat. I hav been told not to hav meat/eggs/sodas/gas forming food. I have also been advised to eat food at regular intervals. Incase you want to try out, do write to me at

try going 100% off gluten...i think you will feel very different. See a naturppathic doc too. Gluten can cause so many issues it is unbeleiveable! Just becarful to avoid the hidden gluten in foods too, you have to do a little research the just go for it for three weeks at least and you will feel unreal!
