I used to wake at about 2-5am with anxiety followed by rapid bloating. I went to the doctor and had ultrasound, CT scan, and colonoscopy. All looks fine, but I have benign liver cysts. Tested for celiac: negative. My gastroenterologist says I'm gluten intolerant. I've been helped by the following things:

* I found an excellent myofacial therapist who worked on my intestines* I started eating oatmeal every morning and salad every day (high fiber diet)* I started making a concerted effort to exercise several times a week, even when work is busy, and to reduce stress* I eliminated gluten from my diet. This had a *very* positive effect. When I accidentially eat gluten, that night I have anxiety/bloating.* I also had pain in my gall bladder (but no gallstones when scanned). My gastroenterologist suggested trying peppermint oil, which relaxes the digestive system. One pill was enough to eliminate the gall bladder pain (after a brief increase in pain)--this was a few weeks ago...we'll see if it lasts.* I eat my largest meal at lunch instead of before bed

These things have been amazingly helpful. I no longer suffer from constipation, my bowels are regular, and I no longer have the nightly anxiety and severe bloating. However, I've noticed that I still have a little bloating most nights, and I'm still curious to know why. I'm shifting to eating organic as much as possible to see if that helps.

I have had this bloating gassy problem for years, IBS diagnosis from a colonoscopy, neg food allergy tests, neg celiac. have avoided certain foods. stopped carbs, tried protein shakes, i am very active but find that I am getting more and more sluggish and fatigued as time goes by. Im frustrated and have had Doctors say its in my head, depression, anxiety, stress but dont tell me how to fix it. embarassed and frustrated.

I have googled my symptoms tonight as I am tired of the bloating and awful gas Ive been suffering for nearly ten years. What interests me is the amount of people who are low in Vitamin D as I was recently told this after a blood test. I dont eat dairy but i do eat gluten. Night times are horrible after any dinner I eat, I also suffer low back spasms that are so painful I feel like im in labour. I guess doctors cant help so I'll try a probiotic.

Have you tried the wheat belly diet?

I haven't tried the wheat belly diet what does that entail? I tried the probiotic and it was slightly helpful, but I've found by breaking down meals into the smallest portions has been the most helpful, which is frustrating when I'm really hungry but certainly a better alternative to a stomach ache!!! Also, I drink two large glasses of water within the hour before I eat dinner, this really helps me digest it better. I've also gone off my favourite asparagus and broccolini, they are just too painful to digest.

Please do Pranayam, Yoga, kapalbhati, anulomvilom. Type these words in Google if you don't know what they are and how to do them. Thanks

I find that drinking a cup of lemon and ginger tea really helps to take the bloating away

How many have taken CIPRO LEVAQUIN or AVELOX? These antibiotics can cause a lot of bloating. and neuropathy and endocrine problems.

I too had similar symptoms. Bloating and very gaseous every night. Turned out I had Giardia. Got it traveling in Mexico a few months earlier. Never had the normal symptoms so doctors dismissed the possibility of a parasite infection. Finally and luckily it was discovered through stool sample . It was a relief as the doctors were ready to diagnose me with gluten intolerance. After completing a round of antibiotics, all the symptoms went away.

I'm happy to say all my digestive problems are gone now that I use slippery elm bark powder. Mix it fifty fifty with water and add it to food. I add it to Apple sauce, oatmeal, Turkey gravy, and chicken broth. I've also cured my cats IBS and UTI, now they are sporting a nice slim waist when just two months ago they were my fatty catties.
