yeah i have the same problem as well... especially during the first few days of menstrual cycles the numbness can be quite annoying and my feet get really cold no matter what i do or how much i wear.

I am anaemic which my Dr said could have more symptoms during menstrual cycle because when u lose blood you also lose nutrients and minerals and for some people with lower blood volume to start with , could experience such symptoms and i was told to take Iron supplements during the 7 days of the month (i'm low on Iron) and i found that it actually helps with the headaches that i sometimes experience too!

but of course if you are not anaemic, supplements as such won't help much and having a over-the top level of Iron or anything can have adverse effects.

Check with a Dr i guess? Just to get a peace of mind.

Heavy or light => depends on the individual and yea the symptoms differ.

Always remember Paracetamol is one of the SAFEST pain-killer and no long time adverse effects since it is an old drug and has been tested thoroughly. (it helps ostheoporosis too which is good for women..just a bonus hehe) and it is also save for pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Hope it helps... but of course hot packs or something can always be nice if needed.

Take care! =]

Thanks for the info. I too am severely anemic, and experience aching and numbness in my legs before and during my cycle. I realized that this started around the age of 34/35, I am now 39. I get a really bad headache that last for about 24 hours during my period. I am always cold, but during this time my feet just can't get warm. I have a prescription for iron, but do not take it as I should. The pills are huge and hard to swallow. But I will definitely make certain to take them as directed and watch to see if it makes a difference in my symptoms during that time of the month. It's nice to know I am not alone.

I'm 4 months pregnant and my left outer thiegh goes numb and sometimes I get shooting pains in it, the Dr. says that the baby may be sitting on a nerver, I just can't believe that a 5 ounce baby could cause all that pain, I can only take tylenol for the pain and it sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi my name is nicole and i found out that tylenol is VERY BAD for you liver and that ibu. and advil are much more effective

You can only take Tylenol when you are pregnant, it sucks for pain, but it is the only thing that won't hurt the baby. The others will.

sometimes pregnancy can cause sciatica type pain because of the way you sit, walk or move to compansate for the weight of the baby. its caused by compression of the sciatic nerve which runs down ur bum cheek and into ur thigh. i would suggest trying to sit on the bony bits of ur bum rather than leaning back on to the fleshy part, however this may not be comfortable when pregnant.

Same for me, I get terrible pain in my thigh's ONLY during my period and it hurts so bad! I usually just take ibuprofen but it takes a while to kick in and hurts badly. It interrupts my daily activities too, usually I'm in school and just have to deal for hours of the pain until I get home. Is it growth pains or???

I have the same problem, I find it painful to walk sometimes it feels like a pressure pain in my thighs that comes on when I get my period, my doctor also suspects that I have endometriosis, its funny when we are teenagers and we first get our periods a lot of the time when you have extreme pain and things you think its normal, and part of being a woman and then we get older and realize that extreme pain is not normal, I just dont feel like I was ever given enough info about these things when I was 12 and first got my period

omg, me 2, but im like fifteen, i wear pads and tight panties(girdles) to keep it in place, and its terrbile, i sit down for 5 minutes and when i get up, the inside of my thighs hurt SO bad, i cant barely walk, it feels like someone wrapped twine around my top thighs and tried to cut them off, so im thinking tampons would be better(no need for tight panties), but my mom is totally against it

Hi,
For years I've been suffering during my period. I have severe cramps that cause me to get chills, nausea (sometimes vomiting), diarrhea, and the strange thing is my arms & legs go numb (usually from the elbow to fingers, and from the mid-calf to my feet). Also, I get some hand cramping as well (hand goes into a distorted position and can't pull it out). This only happens when I am in severe menstrual pain though - never anytime else. I suspected endometriosis, but so far have not been diagnosed. I do have ovarian cysts though. I'm trying to get pregnant now so hopefully this will end!!!!

Hi, did you ver figure it out. I get the same symptoms, numbness, nausea, diarrhea, and weirdest of all the hand cramping too!

The craps you get in your hands and feet is from hyperventalating your breathing very fast and not intaking enough oxygen. Hare deep short breaths next time like what you see on tv when a woman is giving birth, this will help you manage the pain. And everyone talking about theshooting pains in legs during a period. It is more than likely your lying in bed early hours of the morning wincing at the pain, tensing your back and lying in bizare positions to try and distribute the pain, all it is, is pressure on a very large nerve that comes out your spine and right down your leg. I find 2 co-codamol tablets and a walk round eases the pain and makes me drowsy enough to sleep though it. It's hard being a woman, but damn we have our up sides hope this helps x

HI i also have heavy menstrual cycles. the thing is is that i really only get cramps in my butt adn pelic region. lately though i have been getting tingling in my legs and feet it is difficult to stand very long and i constantly feel dizzy and nauseated . Endometriosis  does run in my family, but i have never been diognosed with it. all the doctor says is to take ibu asprin adn Tylenol. but they dont help at all, and the only time they do help is when i take such a high dose im at a constsnt health risk. sometimes the pain gets so bad i cant sleep at night. and any time the cramps hit my boyfriend cant even hug me and we cant have intercourse because it hurts too much. if anyone has ideas what may cause this  or any  ideas what might help please email me at
