I am having this problem too i am 46 years old and starting 2 months ago sharp pain and numbness below outside of right knee about 4 inch around. Then tonight started in left knee too! I was also born with one hip not grown in socket and spent first 9 months of life in a cast from waist to toes!
This just started happening to me and i have MS too. :(
The same thing happened with me. 1 Epidural "slipped out' and the other only took and blocked pain on my left side. I'm 4 months postpartum and having severe shooting pains in knees, numbness in left knee and tingling between my shoulders. I had to have an emergency C-section, so it was either the 2 failed epidurals or spinal tap that caused it. :( I was perfectly healthy and pain free all the way up to delivery day.
Thank you for your post. I have the exact same symptoms and I don't want to waste my time or money to hear that the Dr don't know how to help. Just going to rest it and hope it will heal.
Thanks for posting, but does anyone else think this is a pathetic Dr analysis? All test came back okay. Also, "My left leg was noticeably weaker", I think this is common in Right handed people. Same with him measuring your thigh, if you are dominate right, Left is going to be weaker. I may be cynical, but according to ALOT of other posts, most Dr don't know what causes this pain in the knee that we're experiencing. I have it and if I lay off heavy exercise, it feels better. Please do not believe that every Doctor has all of the answers. I had a few that I thought were not knowledgeable enough, but were wrong. Second opinion people!
I also have the same numbness on my right knee with a sharp pain when I kneel. Did you ever find out what ithe is? How long did it last? Tim

If have numbness on my left side of my leg on the left side of my knee about 4inches it's not hurting or nothing just numb. What's the problem n what can I do or will the numbness go away.
I have had this issue in my RT knee 7 years ago. I was running cables in a datacenter and spending hours on my knees. After a couple of weeks the project ended but I had numbness on the outside of my knee and it ran down the outside of my leg 4-6 inches. I was treated under workman comp for 6 months with physical therapy with 0% improvement. On my last visit the doc gave me a cortisone shot and said that it would fix it. I was skeptical as this was my last visit because of workman comp ran out. It was almost immediately fixed. I now have the same issue with my left knee but with some burning sensation but it is exactly the same numbness. I will be going to the Dr and suspect it is the same thing. I never got my diagnosis the first time but the shot was amazing and has been great ever since.
My name is Mike and what you described is identical to what I have .It appeared last fall I would love to know what this is.
I've had the exact same problem as a wrestler. my knees also get battered at the skatepark but the numbness and pain seemed to occur after a wreslting tournament
I have the exact same problem. I experienced a hot tearing type pain when kneeling. At first I thought I knelt on a needle! That happened for awhile, but then stopped. Now six months later I have the swelling and numbness of about a 4 inch area on the outside of my knee.
Did anyone ever get an answer to this?
Did anyone ever get an answer to this?
I think it's peroneal nerve entrapment but I'm not sure.
Did any one have problems just bending there knees first and afte a while I started getting the sharp pains in both my knees when I kneeled or put any weight on them and knife both my knees are numb both on the outside just belive the knee cap
I have the same problem - stinging pain when kneeling and patch of numbness outside left knee. I had a hip replacement op right hip 2years ago and have arthritis in left hip - also do suffer back pain (lower back) when exercising. I am quite worried about this - seems a lot of people suffering exactly the same symptoms and nobody has conclusive answer.
yep! exactly the same what is going on?
