I noticed since I started taking the antidepressant Remeron I haven't had any attacks or any stomach issues at all. Remeron acts as an antihistimine as well as an antidepressant. I just thought I'd pass that along.

Hi, go get an Al-Cat test done to see what you are allergic to. It might be what you are eating, because I went through something similar what you are. I find out something surprising that I was eating became an allergy to my body. I could not believe it, all the stuff I went though because something I was eating and would have not known if I didn't get tested.

Have you found out anything new? I have the EXACT same symptoms and have been around and around at doctors only to not know what is going on. On top of all the symptoms you have listed, I feel drained the entire day after.

I have the same reaction, and it only happens at night. The first reaction was THE WORST, I was pregnant and shortly after my husband left for work I started to feel my face and mouth swell up. I immediately (seconds later) had to literally run to the bathroom where I had sudden diarrhea and nausea. My hands and body were covered in hives, and I started having hot flashes. Minutes (at most) later I found myself completely passed out, only to wake up in the ER. Initially I was told that these symptoms were related to brain/intestinal swelling and it was possible that it was due to an allergic reaction to an unknown source. Over 6 years later I am still having these reactions, but to a lesser degree. Everything is the same but my face/mouth does not swell. I immediately take Benadryl which seems to help a bit prior to my passing out. My husband has also pointed out that it may be due to hormonal changes, because every time it happens (other than during my pregnancy) it has happened around my menstrual cycle and they only happen at night. After these "attacks" I am pretty weak and drained the entire day after. So far, I was told that it is an allergic reaction to an unknown source but my most recent trip to the ER I was told that "tests showed" it was NOT an allergic reaction. I have not had any other tests to know for sure, and have no idea where to start. I am not in an area that is pretty knowledgeable about medicine. Anyone with some ideas, or similar reactions that may be able to guide me on where I can get some help I would REALLY appreciate it! I am pretty desparate for help.

Almost the exact same story. A few months back I was awakened by itchy feet, followed by nausea. When I got up to go to the bathroom I didn't know if I had to vomit or poop. Felt like both at the time. Then I passed out, smashed my face on the floor. I passed out in such a manor that I blocked the closed door to the bathroom and my wife couldn't get to me. I was rushed to the hospital and stayed for a few days. I too had severe shivering in the ER and they treated me like I had hypothermia (in the middle of the summer). LIke almost everyone the doctors didn't have much to offer. My family is freaked out and constantly asks me how I feel.

I will offer something that my doctor said that hasn't been mentioned. Vasovagul syncope. After reading this thread I do think my symptoms are allergy driven, but my doctors suggested that they may be neurological. He explained that anytime MY stomach is upset whether due to dehydration, virus, allegies, food poisoning, anxiety MY system sends a signal from my gut to my heart to shut it down. Lowers the blood pressure and then I pass out. This was a diagnosis after several episodes and several doctors not having an answer.

I'm going to get myself check for allergies and see what they say.

I have been suffering from these episodes for a year and a few months. I went to the doctor and he believes that I have heartland virus. If youve had any exposure to ticks id recommend reading up on it. They did blood work today. Will know more next week.

The second time was about a month after the first time and it was alo after a shower and during intercourse. I felt chills and then boom my palms started itching again felt naseous and went to thr bathroom. I felt my heart racing and I get so hot then I vomit and start to feel better. Only ths time Indont get red in the face but I have abdominal pain. After a few hours it went away. I was thinking myabe im allergic to condoms. But I am not allergic to latex ballons gloves nor rubber bands. The first time I ate stuffed peppers that day with groundbeef and tomato sauce. The 2nd time I ate lasanga with grojnd beef and tomato sauce. Those are the only two connections I made with both times. I used condoms after the first time I had those symtoms and othing happened. Nowi have been staying away from these things. I dont have insurance and cant afford to go to a specialist. i dont know what this ix butits scary.

I had another episode last night.

Benodryl helps, but the panic as I know im going down is awful!

I learned from my GI dr to laydown and raise legs at onset of feeling like going to pass out; however my heart races, diareah involuntarily on floow and red rash all over skin.  It last 30-60 minutes then i have fierce shivers.

They usually occur when stress high.

These responses helping me not feel nuts!

My GI doctor said the same diagnosis for me; hwoever it is new in the last two years and scarey. There does seem to be a correlation to extreme stressand food at times. It's unpredictable and yes, scarey. Im sorry you experience this too. My husband is very concerned and thinks I can stop it before it happens; in some ways i think he is right re. streess relief and exercise; and at other times it doesnt seem to matter how well i care for myself. Im tired of feeling like it can hit me at anytime so I trust it wont and keep positive attitude, practice meditation and am getting back on daily exercise p
program.

I have just found this forum after researching all weekend adter my 4th attack of all the above symptoms. What worries me though is,that ive had 3 previous attacks and then nothing for 4 years and then a few days ago, wham!

This latest episode started whilst cooking dinner.  Imhad severe abdo cramps like i needed to go and then i ran to,the bathroom, immediately had severe itchine of hands and feet then uncontrollable diarhhoea being incontinent with no control. Vomiting at the same time, and a sense of impending doom like i was dying. I literally collapse. I took a liquid antihistamine at the onset. My husband rang the ambulancd and when they arrived imthink they thought i was having a panic attacj due to my heavy breathing. She was quite dismissive. i then end up bright red all over like i am sunburned. No one can tell me what this is. My epipen was out of date as id not had an attack for 4 years and i guess got complacent. I had stopped taking daily anti histamines 3 years earlier and now suddenly this. I am so confused and worried as to why this has all started again. I even passed blood with the diarrhoea this time which was scary. I dont see how this can be related to food.  But at least im not alone. I just wish i knew why it happens. It started about a year after my son was born. Ive started taking the antihistamines again. Im terrified of it happening if im alone.

I am a 43 yr old woman, and experienced all of those symptoms everyone is describing (overwhelming nausea, stomach cramps, heart pounding then ears ringing, extremely itchy hands and feet, wanting to sit on the toilet and vomit at the same time. Then it passes after 5-10 minutes and I am left feeling nauseas and the next day feel exhausted). Last week I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. I saw an Immunologist who said he had a patient that described exactly the same symptoms as I did, and he too had Thyroid cancer. He said the thyroid wouldn't produce these symptoms, but maybe it was the body's way of saying 'hey, there is something very wrong - seek help!' Once he had the whole thyroid/cancer removed he didn't suffer from these symptoms anymore. I am due for surgery next week.
