I have the left sided temple pain that hurts worse when I press on what feels like a tendon or vein of something. Also been having blurry vision that comes and goes. I do grind my teeth, I've been told I have Fibromyalgia but I think it my be autoimmune disorder. Signs point to temporal arteritis. Good luck to us all!
I had/have a similar pain also, I went to the ENT doctor he loosely diagnosed me with something neurological, but i had a feeling it was sinus related, i have a long history is sinus infections...
I took the medicine he prescribed me for seisures and neuro Gabeprentin, and it didn't work.
What did work.. I started a regiment of neti pot with salt and body temp water AND 2 times a day follow a facial massage series to drain the lymph nodes just under the skin from the base of my neck to eyebrows and down again.. wow that really gets the slime moving! (found it on you tube)
After about a week of doing this my temple tenderness has significantly decreased, there are no more dull headaches in the am, my eyes feel open and bright with no puffiness and congestion. I highly recommend this FREE and homeopathic remedy for anyone.. even if you don't have temple tenderness it just feels great and will get rid of under eye puff.
Good luck!
OK interesting discussion, but apologies if this has been discussed already but isn't there a nerve cluster around about the area of the temples? Would even gently pressing on this cause pain?
My reason for asking is that this forum came up in a Google search I did "should I feel pain in the temples when I gently press them" so I decided to look here in this discussion. I feel pain in my temples when they are gently pressed but I don't suffer from headaches often may 3 a decade, yes that few. So I wondered if maybe as a cluster of nerves they are meant to hurt if pressed?
Any any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I have tender right temple.. no other symptoms.. just tender right temple vein when I graze it .. sometimes there's no pain when I touch it but sometimes when I accidentally graze it I feel pain like in the vein or something .. which is weird was afraid that it might be temporal arthritis .. but they seems usually have some kinda symptoms like headech blurry vision fever etc ..
I see everyone is having the same problem with the pain on the left temple, but I don't see any answers to these questions. Anyone getting an answer?
I also grind and clinch my teeth while sleeping. I have been wearing a night teeth guard for years. The last couple of weeks I haven't worn my teeth guard cause I would have coughing spells at night due to recent illness. Yesterday I noticed my right temple being really sore to touch.....I have never experienced this before. I wore my teeth guard last night and this morning the soreness is gone. I know I did some serious grinding last night because a crown I have on my bottom right always let's me know when I clinch and grind severely.....the crown feels weird for a couple hours after waking. I do believe my temple soreness is the result of grinding and not wearing my night guard. Also, I have a crown on each side of my mouth....they are the result of teeth grinding before I got my guard. You may want to take your dentist's advice and get a guard. Grinding can destroy your teeth. A guard is a whole lot cheaper (about $500) than a crown and root canal.
Merry, do you ever find out what your temple pain was from? Mine is on my left side and only hurts when I rub it.
It was 3 yrs ago when my jaw started cracking and most of the time it locked(first lasted seconds to minutes) and same thing i just found out recently about my right temple pain felt like bruises when you touched it.
That's why there is a discomfort when sleeping on my right side and sometimes a throbbing pain in my parietal lobe, around my eyes and ears.
