It could still be endometriosis. I was not fully diagnosed with it until I had surgery 2 weeks ago to have the endometriosis removed off my uterus. It does not show up on pap smears and there is not a test to diagnose it. I have cyst that rupture as well but not every time I have my period. I have often wondered if it was GI related. Even after having surgery 2 weeks ago I am now on my period and the cramping is better but the sharp shooting pain is still going.
Hi! :) I have almost the same exact symptoms as you. My Dr. s think it is probably endometriosis but want to do surgery to confirm that theory. I really do not want surgery to confirm something that has no cure and is made worse by surgery so, I have done a lot of research! Diet is big! Google endometriosis diet. Basically, no wheat, dairy, red meat, processed foods and SUGAR, etc. Absolutely do not use lavender or tea tree oils on or in your body regularly. This means in soaps perfumes etc... They are both endocrine disruptors and mimic estrogen in your body (which is suspect to be the cause of endometriosis) Lastly, get plenty of sleep! Rest when u need to and try to reduce stress... (research adrenal fatigue, I think it could be linked). I really hope this helps you!!
i had a scan a couple of days ago and they found a polyp in the uterus but no endo they could find on the scan..i need to have further investigation re colonoscopy to see if endo in there...at my age i could have a hysterectomy as ive had all my children..they also dont like to leave polyps in the uterus ..i havent had heavy bleeding as this is usually the symptons so im lucky there
I have had painful periods with suspected endometriosis since I was in my mid 20's, the gynocologist implied that there was no real reason to have the surgery to remove scar tissue since it would probably just grow back.
After I gave birth to my son who is now 7, it changed things for the better. I had very mild periods with little pain! Until now, for just the last few months I am EXTREMELY sensitive around the entire region between vagina and rectal area while on my period. I even walk funny due to the pain and yes bowel movements are very painful! It's like a sharp stabbing pain in my rectal area. I also had extreme pain in this area while giving birth! I felt like the baby was coming out of my ass! ; )
I actually had a colonoscopy a year ago for an unrelated reason, and everything looked fine. I really wish I could find out exactly what this is. I am thinking of going on BC to reduce my periods.
One doctor who had suggested that the pain may be a reaction to too big of a drop in estrogen
This is very interesting, especially being that so many women are claiming that it happens mainly during the first 2 days of menstruation! As I stated in my post, I also experienced this extreme rectum pain during childbirth...certainly a lot of hormones being released then as well!
They other thing they noticed is that i have a reversed/tilted uterus.. The gynocologist told me the same thing, that I had a slightly tilted uterus...it makes sense that if it is leaning backward towards the rectum that one could experience extra sensitivity/pain when the uterus is swollen during menstruation!
i have read that it can take a few months for it to work so might take awhile
Hi All, I also suffered from this after having my second child. I put up with it for 3 years then couldn't handle so went on the contraceptive pill and has made things a lot better. I still get the pain slightly on the 3rd month when I get my period but as one person said 4 times a year is better than 12. The pill really does help.
I don't have pain going to the bathroom but, I get really bad Cramps during my period usually the for 1 or 2 days (I get the shakes and feel like vomiting & sometimes would get diarrhea/ Flue like symptoms basically) I had used Adult Liquid Tylenol it kinda worked, my doctor had told me to take Ibuprofen and it worked my cramps go away completely I've been taking it during my cramping days for over 5 years now.
You should consult your doctor before taking Ibuprofen.
I'm 42 and have had this problem since I was about 15. Ridiculously heavy flow, paralyzing cramps, constipation, and urination kept me home and in bed for 2-3 days. Only suppository pain meds would help. The pill helped quite a bit, I was only home 1 or 2 days. But what stopped it all was the Depo shot. No more periods or pain at all, it was all gone!
Fast forward 22 years later and I have been trying to lose weight and couldn't so I stopped getting the shot. 7 months later I am in bed (an hour after taking 2 Vicodin, i'm loopy but still in pain) and remembering the main reason I started the shot in the first place. My husband wants me to go to the hospital, but it's all coming back to me. This is my normal. Back on the shot I go! I will not go through this again next month!
I'm 23 years old mostly healthy. But when I was on the pill a couple of years ago, whenever I got my period it would feel like something in my lower abdomen would get swollen and cause a tonnnnn of pain. From passing gas, stool and urine to wearing jeans and getting too full after I eat sometimes the pain would bring me to me knees in pain. Its tender to the touch and I have to stand up slowly so I can get used to the pain. I cant wear jeans because it hurts too much. Pain killers and anti inflammatory's dont work.
I have been off the pill for 2 years and due to abnormal bleeding while off of it I decided to go back on it. Not ONE time did I get that pain while I was off the pill. Well guess what, the pain is back and this is my first period while on it and its back with a vengeance and quite frankly I'm scared to keep taking the pill, but I dont want to go back to the abnormal bleeding like I had.
I been to GI doctor when it first started and had an EGD, plenty of blood work and everything came up negitive. I know I need to go back to my gyno but all the tests add up when it comes to money and I would love to say its ok but its not. And I feel like Im going in a circle.
Past history of me: IBS, Cysts on ovaries (gone now), Internal Hemroids, HPV (Internal)
I not looking for a miricle but it someone could give me an idea on where to go from here, or let me know Im not alone that would be great.
Thank You for your Time,
Lindsay
I am so glad that I found this topic. I have been having problems with my period being painful. I have had 3 miscarriages in a row and they all have happened in the last 2 years. I concieve and carry but their hearts stop at around 9 weeks. I have had to have a D and E each time. After my last live birth who is 2.5 years old we have been trying to have one more child. We want a son. We have 4 daughters. After her birth I have had bad periods that hurt when I pee and have a bowel movement, It hurts so bad to even pass gas. Sometimes I feel so swollen inside that nothing comes out. I have to breathe thru it. I have never been diagosed with endometriosis. I dont know what to do. I am currently undergoing bloodtests to see why our babies have died. An autopsy revealed that our last baby was healthy so its my body. I have kidney tests lined up too. I need to know what is wrong and if this is all linked together. Has anyone else been thru this and have an answer?
I feel your pain I have also been going through the same pain and they found a cyst on my left ovary but they weren't concered about it and didn't even want me to come back in to get it checked but I have awful cramps and sharp pains that take my breath away I have had the IUD for over 2 years and it hasn't made a difference I even went to the my regular dr to ask them and no one seems concerned about it but me
I am not the only one!! I stayed quiet about this for a year because I thought it was normal... until it got so painful I finally decided that it can't be normal and looked it up... I am definitely going to a gyno as soon as possible. This pain will end.
