Sorry to hear you are all experiencing this also. I'm a 30 yr old mother of 2 c-sections. I didn't have this before my 2nd child who is just over a year old. I've only had my period for 4 months, and have been experiencing the pain each month. Mine is only during bowel movements and my pain is abdominal. It sounds as if some experience it in the abdominal region and others are in the bottom. I'm going to continue to check back and see if any of you have any input from your Dr's and I'll do the same. It truly is the worst pain I've had, I have to hold my breath and meditate to poo because I don't want to scare my kids by yelling.
Hello, My very first post!
I am shocked to see that I am not alone. I am 36 and a mom of 3. I stopped taking the pill 3yrs ago and now not only does it make me keel over, just to pass gas, but the clots that I have those first 2 days are uncontainable. There is no Tampon to take these on!! Does anyone else have the clots with the painful BM's?
My situation is that i'm uninsured and wouldn't be able to afford the tests they will probably want to run. So i'll keep checking here to see if any one has Dr advice.....

I too am having similar symptoms. Excruciating lower abdominal pain while trying to pass gas or a bowel movement within the first 24-36 hours of my period. This has happened like clockwork every month for the last nine months since starting my periods again after having my daughter (c-section). I have been for a pelvic sonogram which showed nothing abnormal. My ob-gyn is brushing this off as normal period pain which is frustrating me to no end. Has anyone else had any input from their doctors?
Hi girls,i have also started having the same type of pain whilst passing a bowel movement during my period,at first i thought it was severe period pain then i realised it was in connection with my bowels.Period pain previous to this last year was non existant, then all of a sudden i've started almost passing out from it.After going to the toilet i would feel the same pain for around 15 minutes then it would subside, but the area still would feel a bit sore,i thought it might be piles.i went to my doctor and i was sent to have a scan which came back normal except for one area that they couldn't tell,so i had a hysteroscopy and the inside of my womb was normal except that it was tilted/collapsed.I've been back to the doctors since as i still get these terrible pains 6 months on,that keep me off my feet for 2/3 days. i've also developed a left sided abdo pain in between periods (which i'm told could be constipation).it's impossible to stand let alone work during these times, the doc gets quite annoyed that i keep coming back even tho tests have come back normal.I've searched the internet and it comes up with that irritable bowel can effect your period pain. Also polyps.im thinking maybe the area is really sore during the first couple of days of your period and maybe passing hard or large stools could feel like something scraping along the sore area.If anyone else finds something out please let me know as i'm starting to fear the worst!and i'm wondering if the problem lies in my bowel or colon area which is a nasty place to get checked out.
I can't even make a bowel movement during my periods. I feel like to try would cause too much damage as it is too painful. Could this be endometriosis?
Ladies, I am right there with you. I have had a lap and a colonoscopy and neither gave a reason for my intense pain and discomfort. This also started after my 2nd daughter was born via c-section. I am also unable now to get pregnant. Can't help but think this is all related.
Gas Ex has helped me somethis month as well as laying on the floor with my butt up in the air. I cannot imagine having to go through this for the rest of my life!

I am a college student of 22 and I am trying to find out what's going haywire with my periods. I've never felt pain like this before in my 10 years of menstruation history. I've had my normal cramping for a couple days now, but started bleeding yesterday. Yesderday the cramping was bad but as of 1:00 AM I have had cramps so excruciating that I literally screamed. My whole body seized and jolted from the pain and I cried out in pain. The cramps are localized very low in my uterus, my vagina - I can feel it inside me and I can feel it grip me and take over me like a wave. There's a constant sort of dull pain, that's just my period, but these sharp stabbing pains are new and outrageous.
Then, to add insult to injury, the pain gets worse when I get into a sitting position. I have equally bad pain when I try to remove a tampon or go to the bathroom. Pulling out a tampon is about the most extended and painful experience ever.
Somebody please help me, my vagina hates me and I need to save my sanity!

I am suffering of that pain too, and a year ago my doctor told me about endometriosis, I have 3 kids and I never experience infertility until now, I had a miscarriage in February and I cant get pregnant, I am amazed of all this postings and how they describe my experience exactly, I am glad that I found this place....
I'm on the pill, and have been for years, and have had this type of pain maybe once or twice per period.. but this time it got to a worrying amount. It wakes me up at night and keeps me that way until morning. My periods are naturally light and comfortable, but this month they were bad... like my mother's. She said she also got these pains before she had my brother, but then again.. she had periods from hell every month.
I also have HPV, and have bled irregularly after intercourse this past few weeks. I hope it's just hypersensitivity..?

I have had this pain off and on for about 20 yrs. I even had it once while I was pregnant with my son and almost passed out. I have almost passed out from it maybe 3 times over the years. I don't have it every period. I am 43.
hello all. I am 16 and I've had this problem for about 3 years. I thought that this pain was just common for a menstrual period. I researched it and found out the most possible solution:
ENDOMETRIOSIS
ladies, this is the solution. Any woman who experiencing this pain during their menstrual period can most likely diagnosed with endometriosis. Just to give you some statistics. . . 1 out of every 5 woman have endometriosis, rather they know it or not.
When i did research on this i couldnt believe that i actually had this, but when i looked up about it i realized i had most of the symptoms. Endometriosis is said to be hard to specifically diagnose. Any one who wants to help subside this problems might want to go to a gynecologist and mention endometriosis to them...

I have been experienceing this pain for about 2.5 years. I had a miscarriage and nothing has been right since. The pain started right after that. I went to the emergency room once and they suggested I have my gynec check me for endometriosis. The only thing that has helped reduce the pain to where I can walk, not scream, not feel like passing out, not need my husband to go to the bathroom with at home and hold my hand, is Vaginal Depletion Packs. They seem to be hard to find but my friend told me about a natural doctor and I travel once a month to see this guy and literally have a vitamin inserted into my uterus. The pain has gone from a 10++ to 1!!! And my cycles have gotten normal and predictable. If you can find a natural doctor or chiropractor that applies these packs, they are worth it. They really are to help decrease fibroids, but its good for overall uterine health ladies. I hope this helps!
I have the exact same symptoms during the beginning stages of my menses. The sharp stabbing pain takes my breath away and i find myself clinging to a door frame just to stand up. Going to the bathroom... i dread it. i also get a burning almost indigestion like pain in my stomach during my cycle. Happens every time. i was afraid i wouldn't be able to explain it to my doc but now i know i am not alone. thanks
I'm very happy I found this post. I haven't had any pain when trying to have a bowel movement, up until my most recent period. Before, it happened whenever I would sit down or stand up. I am 16 and a virgin, so I'm not sure what could cause this pain. I'm just glad I'm not alone.
I just wanted to put my 2 cents in here. I'm 34, mom of 2 boys who are 12 and 10. In the past year (since january) I have had excruciating rectal pain/pressure during the first 2 days of my period. I have gotten to the point of not eating those two days so that my bowels wouldn't have to move as much. I went to the doctor, had surgery 11 days ago, and found out during surgery that my uterus and cervix are stuck like cement to a portion of my bowels (from endometriosis). So, i would assume that you all who have the same pain have some degree of endometriosis. I had an ovary removed and thought I was going to get endometrial ablation also but the endometriosis was so bad the ablation wasn't an option and most of my uterus had to be removed. So, I'm out of the hospital 8 days and guess what?! I have a period that is identical in every way to the ones I had before surgery. I don't know the next plan but I'm afraid I'll have more surgery because I want to have all of my endometriosis OUT--even if it means a portion of my bowel will be removed and resected. Good luck to you all. I know how it feels. My kids get so worried when I'm screaming and crying in the bathroom. There has to be hope!
