Painful cramps/contractions a week after abortion

I too am going through the immensely painful post aborition cramping. I had a surgerical abortion 5 days ago. I was having a lot of terrible cramps/contractions all yesterday (day 4), to the point they were so immense and painful I went to the ER in the early AM of the night. Other than the inital day of the procedure, I was not bleeding (inital day being moderate bleeding). 

Upon the ER visit, I was given an ultrasound and vaginal scope, with the doctors final diagnosis of having unpassed blood clots in my uterus. They prescribed me Methergine, 4 pills total to be taken every six hours. Within minutes of taking the medicine, I had passed a rather large clot. I'm continuing to pass additional clots, ranging in all different sizes etc.

I feel for what everyone has or is going through with this type of cramping. My suggestion is to play it safe and listen to your body -- if the pain and cramping goes on for more than a few hours go and seek medical attention. I tried myself to kick through all the pain, which started with a dull nagging cramp and escalated to literally never feeling so much pain every in my life. 

Every case is different, but I can noticibly tell a difference  in cramping and pain with just the first dose of the medicine prescribed. I wish everyone on here good health and free of pain. 

 

 

 

 

 

I am going through this as I am reading this post. You are certainly not the only one and I agree; it's hard to accept that this pain is normal. It's so painful I feel as though I am in labor. At times I find myself pushing as though I am giving birth. Nothing seem to help ease this pain :(

how where you able to manage the pain?

I received the medical procedure on 4/16/14 & the cramping i experienced after taking the four pills is the same cramping i've been having the last week,theres no change in tbe pain except im not bleeding. Iwill never hve a abortion again

Can I just say how awesome it is that you women are sharing your stories so bravely, people try to shame and put down women that get abortions and I think this forum is so great! Getting an abortion is not easy but it's a responsible and careful choice and much more mature than raising a baby on welfare and food stamps without a clue or education. I work in south side of Chicago and I'm so sick of seeing 22 year old mothers with four kids they can't control using them as government paychecks. So bravo to u guys for being brave strong and smart! Oh and I've had two abortions second was medically required boohoo but both I had beyond god awful cramps after a couple days that lasts 24 hours and I mean they could put down a horse ! I took four ALEVE though which is same as Midpl and better than Motrin. Also the norcos try the ALEVE honestly it's a lot better

If this is what I have to look forward to I'm in fir one crappy ride. It's been 1 week and 1 day sunce I got mine done and it was the worst thing I could ever go through. I don't regret my decision because of my circumstances but I will never ever put myself through this ever again. It was a one and done. I don't know if I hyped myself up to the point were the whole surgical procedure hurt worse then what I actually did or I felt more mental and emotional pain and switched them with physical pain but never again.

Question i had been taken the pill for abortion and i did mistake like three day after had sex and like two days later i have these bad cramps feel like am n labor some body please answer n tell what i should do please.....

Ive had other abirtions in the past and this is the worst,i started having cramps and lower back pain and clots not big ones but multiple ones, i feel like im having contractions from labor this never happened before is it normal im freeking out

I actually was prescribed the four pills on. The pain was so severe that after six hours of cramping, dizziness and pressure I went to the ER. If anyone is thing about taking the pills please be advised that the Motrin does not help with the pain. I have two children and delivered a ten pound baby and have never experienced this type of pain. Once I got to the ER I was given three doses of pain mess and it still didn't help. Finally I was given a different dose of pain mess and finally got some relief. I'm not home recovering. This is day two. I still can not stand up straight. I'm passing the tissues now do it's still painful. Keep in mind that my baby wasn't developing and I was told I had to abort it. Never again like this!

I had a surgical abortion on Thursday and had the marina inserted at the same time.. I already have a child.. I decided that the procedure was best for my current situation.. Everything seemed okay.. Until Sunday.. I started having pains similar to contractions.. sharp and roughly every 5 to 15 mins over 2-3 hour period.. I assumed it was marina because I was only 7weeks I trusted everything would be fine.. Monday night I get a strange urge to push a little.. I wipe and see this little tiny being.. sticky lil jelly frog looking thing.. My heart is broken.. I was not expecting that at all.. I thought everything was taken during the procedure? To think that poor being had to suffer longer.. If you are ever in doubt ask.. Go for a check up :(

I had a surgical twilight abortion... I experienced the same things excruciating pain, and severe bleeding... they told me it was "normal"... I called 17 other clinic across the U.S and was told "it's normal" (I have 2 kids a 7yr old I had at 19 and a 2yr old at 24... both COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY ALL NATURAL LABORS AND BIRTHS so I knee "normal" wasn't this!!!)... I was told not to got to the ER but to call the phone number provided on my care instructions, and also to make an appointment to cone in... I called a hospital and was told them how I was feeling... they advised... in fact urged me to come in... turns out I have a failed surgical abortion, and part of my uterus is damaged and I needed immediate attention... I realize this post is a yr old but for you ladies searching google... GO TO THE ER AND LET THEM TELL YOU THAT YOUR OKAY AND CLEAR YOUR MIND!!!!!

Yes im having extremely bad chaps after a week, so sore everytime I stand up I feel asthough im going to pass out. I feel horrible! Your thing did help but if it's normal then wow it's so sore :(

OMG... OMG... OMG is all I can say about the godforsaken pain I experienced last night and this morning. That pain would be a more fitting punishment for prisoners rather then actual prison time. OK, so let me start by saying I have been pro life my whole life. Hubby and I painfully came to this decision due to my health. My first Last and only abortion I will be having EVER! I thank this forum for being non byiast or judgemental. Everyones situation is different. So, had my abortion 2days ago (Planned Parenthood) it didn't cover hubbys insurance. So $375 cash. Went in around 10:30 got out around 3:00pm. That's due to high capacity of abortions scheduled that day and the process of screening, vitals, ultrasound, education, history beforehand. Fastfoward, doc said my abortion went unusually well. I hardly felt a thing. But that's because I was having a panic attack from that medicine the swipe on your cervix which made my ears ring and my brain feel like mush. My throat was hard to swallow and my heart was speeding up. By the time I started to panic. Abortion was done and I was fussing out the doctor because I felt like I was gonna die from the meds. She said the feeling would go away in 5 minutes but it didn't. She said my body reacted different because I'm smaller 115pds. And I usually deal with pain naturally. The ringing and throat stuff went away after about 15 minutes. After the abortion bleeding and cramping was below minimum. I was sent home and told I could take OTC ibuprofen if pain arose. Thursday night was doing great. Friday daytime did great. I even painted half a wall (didn't lift anything) just rolled brush lol. But Friday night while sleeping my body said get up. Took 2 Tylenol's and went back to bed. Except it was morning hubby went to work. Woke up around 10am Saturday morning to something that should be illegal. I instantly knew I was having labor pains out the ***. It started out just crampy to 2 minutes apart lasting 30 seconds or more. I was on the toilet every 5 minutes and my hands and knees. My freak in uterus was sotight and contracting soooooo bad i was screaming punching the walls and bending my toes. I thought I was going to die. No one explained this would happen. I have 3 kids and I know what labor pains are like. This was worse times 10. I'd rather have my fingers hit with a maillot 5 times. I ended up calling 911 it was so unbearable. Ended up passing 2 HUGE clots size of garlic gloves and felt little better. Hubby came home early gave me 4 200mg generic ibuprofen and food. I'm doing much better now but still little crampy. I hope my story can comfort another in knowing your not alone. And I pray the labor pains don't come back.
