Painful cramps/contractions a week after abortion

I just had my abortion 4 days ago. No pain very little bleeding for the first 2 days. Then from yesterday I've been having cramps that are more severe than my regular menstrual cramps. It hurts to the point that I can't stand or walk properly, and sneezing or laughing hurts my pelvic area. I've taken Tylenol but it isn't helping much. I have a feeling that this is normal but I will call the clinic on Monday regardless.

Today makes a week since my procedure an these cramps are kicking my but these 550 mg ibprouen aren't doing a darn thing

I feel everyones pain here... Literally. I had a medical abortion 6 days ago now and i really thought it was all over 3 days ago. Me and my partner both think i passed everything after my firt pill... I was told this can happen but usually it happens after the second lot of tablets. After the second lot i did pass a few clots and have been bleeding heavy since... It is really hard to tell when i passed it, or if i still am. The pains i get, which is always just before i go to bed!! Are unreal... They last for an hour or so and i have no idea what to do when i am in that much pain. My partner feels so helpless and all i can do is scream, i feel like the best place to be is sitting on the toilet because i feel like i need to do something... Nothing happens except bleeding. When i left the hospital i was given only 5 dihydracodene tablets (if thats how you spell it) and i took them with in the space of three days because the pain was so bad. I am very close to phoning up the ward today and asking for more pain relief as paracetamol and ibrofene just does not seem to do a thing. If this happens to every woman during this i dont think its healthy to be at home!! I personally pass out with the pain, i cant control my breathing very well when i am in that much pain and i do blank out. I really hope it stops soon... Hi i am going through. Same thing it's been six days and i am still in alot of pain. My first experience with this was not as bad but i also was younger.the pain woke me up .can't sleep or barely sit. They gave me something called tramadol.It does not work . so now im just in pain. Hopefully. It will stop soon.

Hello ladies. I know this is an old post BUT I want to share my experience with you girls that may be freaking out after an abortion. So I had a surgical abortion on Friday. It is now the Tuesday after. My procedure seemed to go OK other than the terrible pain during the abortion. The women at planned parenthood were very comforting and professional. I didn't bleed Mich at all after the procedure or that weekend. I was feeling better each day. On wed I started getting horrible horrible cramps. Like labor cramps..back aches omg was just almost unbearable! I was prescribed noroco and ibu profin. They didn't seem to help at all on Wed and I was miserable. After fighting it all day I started to google things. Of course some of the things I read made me freak out and paranoid and I started freaking out thinking something was wrong. My boyfriend put my mind at ease and put me to sleep that night. I woke up around 3 am with horrible ctlramps yet again. Took some pain meds and sat on the couch and finally started to feel some relief. I feel asleep on the couch and my boyfriend woke me up around 5 am. At that point I was cramping but not as bad as before. He then put me in bed again and comforted me until I fell asleep. I woke up at 7 am to get my son ready for school and I was still cramping a little and felt pressure like I had to poop.I used the bathroom and a clot came out about the size of a grape. I felt relief after that. Since then I have passed a few more clots. I'm starting to feel better with mild cramping but now my mind is more at ease. I think a lot of the pain was coming from clots trying to come out. I want you girls to know that it isn't an easy process and can be very scary when your in pain like that. I just got out of having a surgical abortion and the whole thing wasn't as bad as I thought. I am personally against it however I was backed against a wall and had to get one. My boyfriend took me and was very supportive. It was a very long day. The people in Dallas were nice. The only thing was I felt like just another number in the long line of girls that were there before and after me. When I finally got my sonogram she gave me a copy of the little 5 week baby. The nurse blew my vein out so I had to be poked a couple more times. They finally got me to the room and gave me a couple of different kinds of medications in my iv. I guess while they started the procedure I started freaking out and had been given more. I stumbled out of there a couple minutes and fell asleep as soon as I got to the truck. However I an having the worst cramps with no blood. It's been a little over an hour since the procedure and my uterus hurts so bad

Your post & experience is exactly what I am experiencing & the nurse gave me ibuprofen right after my abortion (wish she hadn't) This post helped a lot. Thank you for sharing. I'm miserable but, I am happy to know its not something wrong. At least I'm praying for that. Thanks again

Hi!! Im Alana. Yes I'm the same way with no clots barely bleeding. And I had my abortion wed 9/30/15. But am experiencing contracting pains and very mild cramps... My planned parenthood here in Philadelphia says it is perfectly normal my body its trying to go back to normal just read your warning papers on any other changes that may not be normal as told and stay alert good luck on our recovery ladies.

Everybody body is different I did a medical abortion on my own so I was prepared bought heat pad that u microwave ibuprofen pm sleep aid pills had mifeprostine the misoprostol water all ready on a night stand like a self doctor I wrote out times in a note book when to take medications took 4 vitamin c pills took wake things up in the system on Thursday daytime 2015 Friday 5:00am took mifeprostine no pain just normal still preggo then at 3 pm took ibuprofen pm before hand so it would already be in in effect couldn't wait 12 -24 hours so 11 hrs later at 5 pm took for 800 mg misoprostol few hours later bleeding took another 800 mg of misoprostol few hours later walked around cramping was like mild period pain it was bearable not painful so was walking around gush water broke went to toilet something was was coming out didn't come out when went to toilet so went back to bed felt it couldnt let it sit there went back on toilet pushed and there was fetus then few mins later every thing else then like regular period a lot of blood at first but back to normal but now Monday a lil cramping not too bad just our bodies trying get back to normal horror stories ugh no horror here just prepare with aiding medicine sleep pills strong pain pills and water fluids shouldn't be that bad ladies stay strong seem like we get the worse

I am experiencing this pain now as I write this. I am happy to have found this or I would be really worried. I had a medical abortion this past week. I took the first pill and while I didn't have any pain, I did feel strange, a little light headed and really tired, I took a nap and felt better. I wanted to take the second pill at exactly 24 hours after the first, maybe it would have been better to wait, I thought I was doing the right thing but maybe the first pill needs more time to take its effect. I was around 5 weeks. I let the pills dissolve but they barely dissolved, maybe I placed them too close together or had a dry mouth, after the 30 mins they were more like a paste alongside my gums so I rinsed it down and swallowed it. Within 30 minutes I was throwing up and I could see I had thrown up parts of the pill. I was worried because the planned parenthood dr said not to worry about this as the medicine has already mostly absorbed via it dissolving, which mine had not. I threw up and felt sick but the medicine made me so tired, I think it may have been from the anti nausea pills they gave me, I slept the entire day, I couldn't do anything but sleep and get up to see if I had started to bleed. I was so out of it I don't even remember having that bad of cramps, I did pass several blood clots but it took me four hours to even begin to bleed and most of the blood came about 12 hours later once I went to sleep for the night. In the past 4 days I have had bleeding each day, it was bright red which alarmed me, so I called the doctor and she said it is normal to continue bleeding and since it wasn't like I was soaking a maxi pad in an hour or anything, it was fine. I felt fine the second day, and the third as well, but that night, last night, I had intense cramps at about a 5 pain level that lasted from about 4pm to about 1 in the morning, all I could really do was sit on the toilet. I tried to go to sleep early but couldn't sleep from the pain and lying down makes it worse. I couldn't find my ibuprofen and so I just used my heating pad and sat on the toilet. My bladder feels strange, like weak, maybe it is more my vagina, but it almost feels like when you get a bladder infection and the only relief from the pain is the having a bowel movement or passing gas, but it's almost hard to bear down with the cramps. I had to sleep in a sitting up position with my legs bent and out wide. This morning I still had cramps and they subsided. I felt fine the rest of the day, but once again tonight around 4 or 5 I began to get cramps and this time they were about a 7 or 8 pain level. I had the whole hot flash/chills thing where all I can do is sit on the toilet and rock back and forth and rub my lower stomach. I hate that pain because it makes me irratable to light and noise and I can't find any comfort or recieve help or comfort from anyone around me because their presence just makes it worse. I immediately took two ibuprofen when I began to get the pain tonight and since its been 4 hours I just took two more, I think I can finally try to get in bed. The pain when back down to about a 4 or 5 after I passed a large clot that almost looks like cartilage, but would have been way too big to be the embryo. I keep getting this intense sharp pain/spasm feeling in my uterus so that it is hard to stand straight and feels like my womb is having a foot spasm and is like sucking in. I really hope this doesn't last as long as it has for everyone else on here. I had to abort my pregnancy, this is my first time bein pregnant and it was really hard for me as I have always thought it would be something I would never want or have to go through. My pregnancy symptoms like nausea and breast pain have pretty much subsided but I worry I have not passed everything. My follow up appointment is still in another 2 days. My dad is terminally ill and I am having so much sadness that this is making me have so much pain that I can't spend the time in the evenings with him and instead have to curl up on the toilet. I never thought this would go on for as long as some of you have written about. The planned parenthood instructions sort of stop after taking the second pill and having cramps and bleeding, it never tells you to expect this, just spotting. I definitely would never want anyone else to have to experience this pain. I can only imagine that if my uterus expanded and I had the amount of pregnancy symptoms and hormanal changes that i had for the 5 weeks of my pregnancy, that It must take at least a month for your body to go back to its non pregnant equilibrium. Wishing everyone else comfort and relief.

This pain hurts like crazy and the more i urinate is the more pain i feel in my back and belly yet doctors say that its normal trust me i wish i didn't have to feel all this pain, but it's a lesson to be learnt and as soon as am ok am going to do a tie off i've got three kids already and i don't need a fourth no way.

I had my surgical abortion on Saturday . I was sedated so i woke up with no memory . I didnt bled alot that day , just a little bit of spotting the day of . Is now my 4th day & since i only been spotting brown . I dont know about the clots but all i know is that im expiriencing horrible stomach pains i guess i can say they are cramps just not the usual ones. I thought it was because i didnt eat much today so i got extremely bloated . I'm still confused about whats causing the pain but i cant even eat a full meal witout having to go to the bathroom or feeling nauseus. The boob pain i been feeling since the second day of my procedure . I just wish someone can talk to me & ease my thoughts . My boyfriend is being supportive but he does not understand the pain my body is going through . I might call the clinic tomorrow before heading to the hospital. I read & researched alot , we always fear the worst. I cant tell how this can be normal but its scary to also know you may have an infection caused by the procedure . after reading a bit & writting this out , its a better idea to call the clinic first before goin to a hospital & get no help.
