Thank you for this suggestion. One of the better on the thread. I, like you, have suffered for decades--lancing, antibiotics, soaking, draining and pain. They had subsided for a few years, but are back, much to my chagrin. Personally I think they are far more likely to involve the lymphatic system than ingrown hairs--especially in my case as occasionally I will get a simultaneous small lump in the underarm area.. I will call my doctor today and ask for this. An end to this would be such a benefit to my life, so thanks for the suggestion.

DId you ever figure this out? I have been diagnosed with Hidradenitis suppurativa - It is the only thing that has ever made sense. Specific Birth Control medications are the only thing that helps with this.

I have this "cyst" problem. It happens often, I believe it is hormonal. It comes near my periods. I have popped some, and this white pus comes out. I don't shave very often down in my crotch area, that is where these lumps are. They aren't huge, but they are about 10 times bigger than razor bumps. I have put a heating pad on it with a damp towel, and it doesn't seem to shrink it. I guess it might be time to ask a doctor about it. I have never had sex, and I am 18. the lumps could not be an STD. They started when I was 15.

I, too, suffer from Hidradenitis Suppurativar, and I also believe this is what most of you are dealing with. As he/she said, there is no cure, and they are not sure exactly what causes it, but in my case, they are pretty sure I inherited it from my mom. She dealt with it during the 70's and at the time very little was known about it. She was diagnosed with every kind of disease in the world....EXCEPT for the correct one! Finally, she was sent to a plastic surgeon by a group of Dermatologists for surgery. They stripped the skin (EVERY LAYER all the way down to the muscles) from her underarms, inside thighs and even the folds of her vagina, plus her buttocks. HONEST TO GOD, THIS IS THE WORST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE, AND I AM A FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST... I would cry for hours at a time asking God WHY my sweet mother had to go thru such hell....Today, however, Mom is well and free from those things. SHE BARELY MADE IT THRU THE HEALING PROCESS after surgery, but THANK GOD, He brought her thru. We have now traced the disease back several generations, so I guess it IS in fact hereditary. Mom's dad, mom's dad's dad, and mom's dad's dad's mom had it....so we've got it back to my great great grandmother. I am still having the I and D's done about twice a week, but I know the horrible surgery is lingering just ahead waiting for me.... MY MOM'S OWN WORDS ARE " THE EXTENSIVE SURGERY IS TERRIBLE, AND THE SUFFERING THROUGH THE HEALING IS ALMOST MORE THAN I COULD BEAR, BUT GOD BROUGHT ME THRU, AND HE'LL DO THE SAME FOR YOU....JUST TRUST HIM FOR THE BEST AND HAVE THE SURGERY!

After 20 yrs It was recommended by dermatologist to take warm bath with 1/4 cup of bleach. IT WORKS. .when you feel it coming or are trying to heal one it works and you are super clean. He also told me after many lancings w packing that while hed rather I didn't pop them myself if I just had to relieve the painful pressure that using a 18 gauge sterile needle from pharmacy with alcohol squares to drain following up with a bleach bath. Antibacterial soap in the ares help. Bactroban never helped like a bleach bath. I hope this helps I was also told the drainage may be contagious and could spread infection to other parts of your body or others

I have had these since I was 20.  I have had them lanced and had them surgically removed and they still come back.  I have had so many that I have numerous scars and dimples.  It is quite embarassing for a woman who is single.  I have had a doctor tell me its from too much cafeine.  I've had another doctor tell me it's just my chemistry, some people get them and some don't.  What a diagnosis?!?!? Anyway, I never pop them but wait for them to pop.  I have tried hot compresses but it's never fast enough.  I am 54 years old and I currently have one that's the size of a golf ball.  I haven't had one in probably 5 years now.  I don't wax and try not to shave much in this area because of this situation so it can't be that.  I heard the less you do in the groin area(wax, shave) the less chance you have of infections. If there is a miracle cure I sure would love to know what it is.  I'll try anything!!

I get these cysts in the groin and under arms. Each time I go to the hospital I would get it drained. However, I would have to go to minor injury clinic or urgent care because my doctor would just give me antibiotics. You'll have to have somebody pack the wound once you have it drained because it needs to heal from the inside out. unless you want to go to the hospital every other day to have it repacked. It may not be ingrown hairs there is a medical term for it .

You can wash with panoxyl soap that can be purchased at walmart and walgreens. It helps.

My doctor said I had these because of the area being warm and moist all the time from not getting any air to the area.  She prescriibed an cream, Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP.  The cream makes them go away, but they do come back.  I only use the cream when they are present.

I know a dermatologist said I just can't sit anymore and she was dead serious. Mine started about 10 months ago this one is not going away. Elastic of underpants rubbing starts mine. Surgeon said I would need surgery but time is not of the essence. What hurts if I pull anything away from it. Also because of the location Dr may put me in rehab til surgery starts healing

I'm sitting here right now suffering from a cyst on the bottom of my scrotum which is migrating to the inguinal area. It's obviously very uncomfortable. I make sure it's clean and dry and use antibiotic ointment to cover it. Doctors refuse to respond immediately to seeing it so by the time they do, it's a raging infection causing scarring, or, it broke open and drained and then resolved. When it starts they won't inject Kenolog and when it resolves the won't cut it out claiming they can't see or feel it. So, I wind up in this constant cycle of medical neglect. Being a disabled vet I'm stuck using the VA hospital and this clinic has reduced its care to me tremendously. They also rarely follow up on anything. Besides being painful and limiting, their behavior toward treatment has been very emotionally frustrating and a strain on my heart conditions. I feel neglected and abused as well as abandoned. In fact, I can't get the center director of medical director to even talk to me. It's like they don't even care!

just had one drained by doctor and he said the same thing about the hair removal. my problem is that I get them even with the hair. very frustrating, uncomfortable, and embarrassing.

i get these frequently i finally went to the doctor. mine are the size of a quater normally. the dr just gave me an antibiotic and told me that this can develop into something worse called cystic acne the reason i know this is due to my mom having cystic acne. I know that you might now want to have the dr look down there but you should have a dr look at it.

Put castor oil on gauze and a band-aid over the cyst. It liquefied the core, the pressure, swelling and pain goes away pretty quickly, within a day or two. Keep something on it, it will continue to drain.
