I also have had the same pulsating neck pain, i experience this pain several times a day and it comes on with no warning the area of my neck is right under my right side of my jaw, My first doctor told me that it was just a muscle spasm from coughing too much but after the pain persisted for a couple months i got a second opinion in which they did an mri i havent gotten the results back but im worried nothing will show up, and im only 20 so my doctor feels that it couldnt be any thing with my arteries however im very concerned any info would be much appreciated
I have just developed this throbbing pain in my neck for 1 week now, it moves around but is mostly at the back and sides quite high up and its painful to swallow but my throat isnt sore. I can hardly sleep and am under some stress right now, so I have been told to take Paracetamol and baths, but its driving me crazy. Not sure we all have the same thing, but any advice useful.
It is more than likely Epstein-Barr Virus. Have your dr. run your titers.
hi ppl has n e one come up with n e answers coz iam convinced iam gonna die lol....but then again iam a big time hypo...does n e one suffer with bad anxiety? coz i do,
so this is what mine feels like and wondering if n e one can relate....happens about 4 plus times a day with out n e warning and only lasts a few seconds or til i stand up and move around...but it happens when i sit and squat or sometimes bend over and what happens is, it starts in my the sides of my back near my kidney area and is an intense throbbing pulsating (hard to explain) and the same pain travels up to my shoulders, back of neck and behind ears and like i said only lasts a few seconds but really worries me.

I am currently experiencing painful pulsations in my throat. When I get up from sitting down my heart rate increases and I feel a little light headed. Soon after I feel the right side of my neck under the jaw bone pulsating like crazy. No sore throat but I feel pain in the pulsating area when i cough or swallow sometimes. I am currently having bad sleep issues and am sleep deprived at this point. I have high blood pressure for a 21 yr old man and also smoke non-cigarettes.
My self diagnosis is sleep. I recently stopped taking a medication that has sleep complications as an after effect. Because I have been waking up in the middle of the night (not from neck pain) i think its causing my body to break down in other ways (throat pain).

HI EVERYONE, I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM LIKE LIKE MOST OF YOU, BUT I DO NOT HAVE PAIN. I CAN FEEL MY LEFT SIDE BACK OF NECK PUMPING BUT NO ACHES AND SOMETIMES I THINK I WILL PASS OUT.I HAVE BEEN TO THE DOCTOR AND DID A COUPLE OF BLOOD AND EKG TEST. HE SAYS I AM FINE. I KNOW I HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND TAKING MEDICINE (LISINOPRIL) FOR IT. IT COMES AND GOES. I ALSO GET TWITCHES IN MY LEFT EYE. IS THERE ANY CURE FOR THIS.
Hey I am having the same symptoms and problems and I know its been awhile but wondering did you ever get better or find any answers to what was wrong. I have already been to the ER and now to a physician and the pain sorta went away after being on an antibiotic but has come back and not sure what is going on.
For those of you taking medication for high blood pressure, I think it is probably just a side effect. I started taking Diovan (160mg) a little over a month ago.
As of last Friday, my bp was still high (140/90). Then Friday evening, I started feeling some of the symptoms described here...basically it feels like all the blood is rushing to my head/sinus pressure/neck pressure...almost as if I can feel blood pulsating through my arteries. It's not necessarily painful, but it is really annoying and when it started happening, it actually prevented me from sleeping.
The next morning, when I checked my bp, it had gone down dramatically -to 128/73. I thought the reading was incorrect, so I checked it periodically during the day and it was consistently in that range. Then everything was pretty much fine for a couple of days until I started working out again (I hadn't worked out since starting the Diovan). I haven't had a chance to check my BP again, but since Diovan and Lisinopril work by relaxing your blood vessels, I wonder if the weird throbbing/pressure, has something to do with the increased blood flow and since exercise (especially cardio) helps circulation, I am thinking that combination of the Diovan and exercise is causing this side effect.
At any rate, I had a follow-up scheduled with my Dr. for Friday anyway, so I am going to ask her for her thoughts. I am betting that it's pretty normal and just a side effect that will hopefully go away.

Wow, I have all the symptoms everyone else seems to be having. One thing that struck a bell with me is, someone said they had heartburn really bad lately. Well I've had Acid Reflux for about 6 months really bad. I wonder if it could have something to do with it.
I'm not sure if I'm concerned, curious or just plain intrigued. One thing is for sure I'm comforted by the fact I'm not alone with this 'sensation'.
Similar to some, I'm sure I have had this problem on & off for several years. It comes and goes. I wouldn't say it's "painful" as much as I would say, again, it's more like a sensation that provides me discomfort and I've just learned to 'deal with it'.
For me, the area has always been below my right ear and directly behind the corner of my jaw bone. Is that the sternocleinomastoideus? And the discomfort is mainly concentrated in this area but does throb down my neck to my collarbone maybe up as the back of my ear.
About me...I'm a healthy 39 year old male (or so I think), non-smoker, exercise regularly (more weights than usual lately)...but I do have a lot of neck tension and my diet is often sporadic. Can you relate?

I thought that I was going crazy. I am 38 and have had symptoms for about 3 months similar to those reported. It started med chest and was diagnoesed as Castocondritis wich often radiates to the left shoulder. This was occuring for me but I did not beleive it was Costrocondritis. That pain has vanished and now moved (exact same pain) up to my lower neck left side and pulses. As it goes on it moves to my lower jaw under my left ear and I feel numbness in my left eye/temple region.
Drs' shrug it off because I am otherwise healthy with no family History. I have had Stress tests, Echo's etc. No one has ever ordered a complete bloood panel. I asked for one and they ordered it. But not for another 60 days. The pain causes great anxiety and is making me crazy. If anyont else gets a DX I'd be interested to know what cured the problem.

I have throbbing on the left side front of my neck, it doesn't stay for long periods, some times it could be a day or even hours. I can fell the piching or throbbing sometimes when I swallow, but when that happens I sometimes press on the spot with my finger and it tends to stop at tat time. Somedays the pinching stays and is very annoying not very painful though, just enough to be on my mind. I can go weeks without having any throbbing and suddenly it returns to annoy me. If I touch both sides of my throat and swallow, there appears to be no deformities.
Many of you appear to have some of my symptoms as well.

I have the same problem as so many of you.
My throat gets a deep throb, originally on one side ( where the jugular is ) but now on both sides of my neck. It throbs almost with my pulse and feels as though my veins are clogged almost. Sometimes it feels as though it is coming from my thyroid but it's usually just a random attack altough I notice it coming on stronge and more frequently..
It als is related to when I am hungry or not ....

So apparently no one has gotten any help with the problem or diagnosis? I also have throbbing on the left side of my neck, feels like in the vein there and sometimes in my left armpit. I have not seen a Dr. but have not had the problem too long. Anyone ever get any help?
