This is EXACTLY what I've been going through.
I have a throbbing, sharp pain on the right side, sometimes both sides, of my neck that pulses for about 10 seconds. No warning, random pain. Someone else described that it doesn't feel like the muscle and that it feels like the blood is having a hard time pushing through. That's exactly how I feel. If I put my head upside down or bend over to pick something up, it's an instant headache that only lasts for a few seconds after I stand straight up. The neck pain happens about 3-5 times a day and started about 3 months ago. Since its so temporary, I hadn't bothered to go to the doctor until yesterday, then I look this up and see that so many other people are experiencing the same exact thing as me.
The doctor said it's pressure on my sinuses which connect through a nerve in my neck and also hurts worse when upside down. Prescribed a steroid to help with the tense nerves and an allergy medicine to calm the sinuses. I'll update if it helps.

I'm 27 and live in Houston, TX. Yesterday I began to over exert myself while masturbating. I was cut short after experiencing extreme light-headedness. That feeling was followed by all over body aches and I seriously thought I was having a heart attack. Called in to work so to rest.
The body pain was mild to severe and has lasted through this morning as well. Last night my girlfriend came home to help. Found out that in an 11hr period I blacked out. She explained that during that time I vomited, cried and passed out. When I awoke this morning the pain was in my left shoulder.
Currently it is 8:33 in the morning and the only discomfort I'm feeling has traveled to my throat. The area of my neck just behind my collar bone. More so to the left side. The pain is tolerable compared to before. Though I can feel my Adam's Apple area throb and pulse. I've taken Bayer Asprin and that has helped slightly.
A little background....
When I was 9yo I had a heat stroke. I've been told I need to be mindful of chest pains and to never take it lightly. I've yet to go see a doctor for I have no insurance and work won't carry me. I have absolutely no idea what's wrong or how to address it. The only thing I can think to do is stay hydrated and to rest. If this persists I may need to see someone for it. Either way, I'll post my findings in case someone may be experiencing the same issues.
If you may have advice, I'd gladly take it.

I recently found after that I had very low human growth hormone so that seems to answer the fatigue. Think it helps my thyroid and my adrenal exhaustion. The sensation of throbbing I think is the EBV or epstein virus and the herpies 6 virus recently found. I noticed in a recent relapse of herpes 6 battle which I thought was Strep my doctor gave me an very strong antibotic which decreased the throbbing sensation by 80 percent. Heading to see a specialist on a treatment which has been aroung for thirty 30 people have not been introduced to called Ozone Therapy look up Doctor Robert Rowen on You tube Amazing!!! I'll keep everyone posted!!!

I used to have...
1. Asthma. Common
2. Throbbing and tightness of the neck particularly the left side. Somewhat common
3. Very painful ear aches. Rare
4. Cold / cold-sensitive ears. Common
5. Something that felt like a mass in my nasal cavity between my eyes. Rare
6. Light muscle and joint pain. Common
7. Mystery pain. Somewhat common
8. Watery nasal fluid that would pour out. Very rare
9. Teeth aches. Rare
10. Chest pain. Very rare
...I should say I still get these, but I know how to get rid of them. For me the cause is upper GI gas. Between, swallowing air and digestive gas it was putting pressure on my diaphragm in the case of asthma. For 33 years I took an inhaled over-counter epinephrine. I haven't taken any asthma meds for 6 years.
As far as I can tell upper gastrointestinal gas puts pressure on a blood vessel or maybe a nerve. I can have most of the symptoms independent of the others, except the teeth ache and ear ache require the throbbing neck. Symptoms vary every few days.
When I get rid of the gas, symptoms will go away in a few seconds, except for the nasal drip which takes about two minutes.
What helps me to get the gas out...
1. Ibuprofen. It reduces swelling.
2. Anti-gas pills, but keep your meals light and don't take after 3:00 pm.
3. Water, lots of it. I will sometimes take 3 glasses of water together. It seems to displace the air or something. Stay well-hydrated.
4. Breath through your nose as much as you can.
5. Keep your stomach muscles tight.
6. Sit Indian-style and lie forward keeping your stomach muscles tight.
7. Relieving gas pressure at the south-end tends cause a release from the upper intestines.
8. Massage the upper GI, particularly along the centerline (up and down) and the left side next to the bone (downward only).
9. Lose weight, it adds pressure.
My family doctor looked at me like I had a hole in my head when I told her the cause.
P.S. For the guy who has heartburn, try a pinch of salt and a little water, it works for me.

I guess I have Aerophagia. Over-breathing and mouth breathing cause a lowering of CO2 In the blood stream, resulting in lower nitric oxide production, which result in constricted blood vessels. Possibly causing the throbbing neck. L-Arginine introduces nitric oxide into the system and might be a good way to test this out.
The pain is due to irregular breathing holding your breath for long will cause your thyroid to swell
I have it too but starts up when I drink hot or cold. I have been to dentists, endodontist, oral surgeons, and my doctor and no one knows what's going on. Throbbing in my neck under ear by jaw. Sometimes aches, other times tingling pain.
Don't know if it will help you.I am suffering from same and it seems allergy might be the cause. i hv dust mite allergy and sometimes even have to breathe through mouth. Not many drugs worked but HYDROXIZINE did.
Now my throbbing are reduced and i am less tired.
So check if u might have allergy :)
