He must be very much in demand. How possible is it to have him do the surgery? Is there a long waiting list? I live a short distance from Montreal in the Eastern Townships.

Hi, I am just in the process of getting a diagnosis and starting the process. I live in Ontario as was wondering if you ended up having your surgery? I am curious about the minimally invasive approach and options for surgery in Canada and what the waiting list is like.

Is this a new post or 2012 ?

You should look into reclaiming your hotel and travel expenses under medical expenses through your income tax return through revenue canada. You can do an adjustment even if you have already submitted your income tax for that year.

Sorry to take so long to reply. Yes, I had the surgery with Dr. Tabah in 2013. The results are beautiful (you cannot even tell that I had the surgery) and i am completely healed. Words can't express how much better I feel and how much more productive I am. Please do not delay having this surgery. Once you find a doctor that can perform the minimally invasive approach, just do it.

Hi there, I need to have parathroyid surgery removal and live in BC but will be willing to go to Montreal if Dr. Roger Tabah is able to do the surgery with the minimally invasive approach...if I get the surgery done in BC I will be left with a huge 6 inch scar on my neck. Have you had your surgery yet? Was it successful? Is he the only surgeon in Canada that us min. invasive approach? Thanks Diane

Hi Dianne
There are 2 excellent pt surgeons in Vancouver BC Dr. Adrienne Melck and Dr Sam M. Wiseman. I belong to a parathyroid support group . getting to know many who have had pt surgery by these surgeons. Dr A Melck would be my 1st choice in Vancouver.
. Not sure which part of BC you are from but there is also another in Surrey BC and the top parathyroid surgeon in Canada is in Calgary Dr. Janice L. Pasieka
Do you have an endocrinologist ?

Thank you for your informative infor. re pt surgery...I did call Dr. Melcks office...but she is away on pregrancy leave til Sept and then back logged...and time is of the essence in my case..so I called Dr. Sam Wiseman...the office said that the scar is only 1-2 inches...have u seen any patients with surgery from Dr. Wiseman...I know that I have 2 enlarged glands for sure on lower L and lower R. I would have call Dr. Pasiekas office but BC Health won't pay for it if it is done in Calgary and there are pt surgeons in BC....I live in Kelowna...but will go to Vancouver. Hope to hear back from you. Thanks Diane
